Sad news. Can't FTP from work.Anyone want to be my new best friend and send my team file to the server for me? Spock? Blake? Bueller?

Three teams have become available. Who would like to come into the SLO Baseball League? Just in its first year...

Here are the teams that are open...

Colorado Rockies

Houston Astros

St. Louis Cardinals

Here is the league website:

some guys couldn't use it because they had a mac...some guys had trouble installing the game on the PC. not totally sure. all i know is what the two guys in charge told me, and since i recruited such fine men not so long ago...why not try it again. :)

also, after the league started, we had a "GM check-in" and a few of the guys failed to check in if i recall. though i'm not sure if they were the original GM's of these franchises.

So far, we're about 65 games in on the first season of the Sim League One Baseball league using the free version of OOTP5.

But, naturally, even though we have many active GM's, in the first year of any league getting off the ground, there are bound to be some speedbumps with GM's of franchises. Some who intended to be active, just aren't. This isn't any boring league - this is a league that demands some attention and activity.

Here are the franchises that have openings for GM's right now:

CHICAGO(AL)

CLEVELAND

DETROIT

TEXAS

NEW YORK(NL)

FLORIDA

ST. LOUIS

CHICAGO(NL)

HOUSTON

COLORADO

We are using 2004 stats so there are some very competitive teams here.

Like I said, this league is already very active and has a terrific base of owners, some that are FBG's. Teams somewhat lacking in talent, Tampa Bay, Kansas City and others, have very stable owners and guys who want a challenge. This league isn't filled with 17 year olds who just want all star rosters to start off.

Here is the league's homepage

Please feel free to take a look around and hopefully you'll be convinced that this is a league you'd want to join. This league is affiliated with a pro basketball simulation league that has been going for eight sim seasons and a college league that has been going for four.

interesting, got a lot of FBG interest the first time around, recruiting quite a few men. how about a few more?

the Marlins seem like they have been taken.

also, after the league started, we had a "GM check-in" and a few of the guys failed to check in if i recall. though i'm not sure if they were the original GM's of these franchises.
yeah, i'm sorry. i thought i would have the time to do this from home...

I'm starting to get into the swing of things a little more now that I've been able to FTP from work. Looking forward to making a run with the D-Backs....

no worries - it happens.

i may need to hassle you a bit more with FTP'ing from work as i still haven't tried, but you have surged ahead of my padres. not happy about that!

UPDATE:

Cubs and Mets have been taken.

Still many more franchises need GM's however. Reply here, or just PM me and you'll be able to be set up very soon with access to our dedicated forum.

Can I kick out the person with the Mets?

Let me know if a team opens up. I have OOTP 6 at home.
we are using OOTP5, but it's free so it's probably not a problem. more than likely, after a couple of seasons are done, we'll be moving on to OOTP6 when we build a more stable league after the first season or two.probably out of luck with the mets, but here are the rest of the open teams...

PROTESTI want the Mets. TRE will back me up here.

Is this a new league that is starting now?

I see that the cards are available but were taken already at the linked site.

Did these gms quit?

Very interested in taking a team.

I only see the Cubs & Marlins have been taken, aren't the Mets still available?

unfortunately yes - the cardinals were taken initially. and this is a new league that is starting now, as it is the first season of the league, but approximately 65 games have been played in the season so far. we started with 2004 season rosters, but many trades have been made as well, though none with the teams that are open, i am assuming.why these teams became open is of a myriad of reasons - the person had a mac, and OOTP doesn't mesh well with that, the person thought they had more time than they did, the person just hasn't checked in for a while, things like that.

few GM's have quit though - we are just trying to weed out the inactive people, basically.

please feel free to post in the Community Forum as well in this thread:

Community Team Claim Thread

Looking around there will also give you a basic feel for the Community forums, even though you won't have access to much since you aren't in the leagues. However, the Sim League One community has a college basketball sim league, two pro basketball sim leagues and of course the baseball sim league.

i DEFINITELY need to extend to you an apology. marlins...mets...i got them confused. my sincere apologies.if you could, please post in this thread:

And if you could, please say that the Padres GM recruited you, if you could be so kind? my username on that forum is "John".

Let me know. Its really easy with the web FTP site I was given by reg.Does the program work on your office PC other than the FTPing?

Grats. looking forward to having you in the league.
Sim League One Baseball has been extremely lucky to have D-Bo in the league.Already he's made a force out of the Blue Jays.

Looks like someone did take the Mets unless I'm reading the forum wrong. Also, 2004 rosters are being used?

Any chance I could see the rosters to decide on a team if the Mets are taken?

TRE, you were able to get OOTP on your work PC? Did you need admin rights?

Who's the lucky dog that wound up with the Royals?
Royals still have/had Beltran. Just got traded for Zito or Mulder though, I forget which one...
True - that guy is one of the most stable GM's of the community. He's in both pro basketball sim leagues as well. We needed guys like him to take over the crap teams, so to speak, and raise them up to become good teams since many brand new guys would probably be hesitant to take on the Royals or Pirates or Brewers, for example.

Thanks. I am having a blast & I agree, the Padres should get $$$ for previous recruits that are still in the league. Heck of a job recruiting.

i think you were initially right and i was wrong in that the Mets are open. i'm looking again and i don't see anyone who claimed the mets.still, here is the current standings page for the league. clicking on any team will take you to their entire big league roster:

You DON'T need admin rights. You could get the free OOTP5 download. (google it) and then I can give you the link to download the league file so you can check out the rosters if you like...

What means this then?"Jsteward456 e-mailed me and is taking the Mets in SLO-B."

Nice of you to say! You immediately came in and showed some good humor and made everyone at ease and instantly proved you were one of the good guys of the league. Not only that, but you're one of the most active posters in the league. Both of those things make you extremely valued since people like you will help the league become stable and then a success, hopefully, soon after.

"Jsteward456 e-mailed me and is taking the Mets in SLO-B."
you're right, i saw that too - good catch. but that post was dated may 5, and the commissioner of the league, "RJStew94" has since posted that the Mets are, indeed, available.so my question to you is...whatchoo waiting for!

You could get the free OOTP5 download. (google it) and then I can give you the link to download the league file so you can check out the rosters if you like...

great question. all i've tried is at home where it's a breeze. i couldn't do it the same way at work since i didn't have the game. but i will definitely try (hopefully very soon) at work with your instructions which seemed extremely helpful.

I'll take them if I can get it to work on my work PC. I remember trying it a year or two ago and it wouldn't let me without admin rights. Since it's free now it may not require admin rights any longer.I'll try it and get back to you.

sounds like a plan.one idea that i'd recommend though is that if you really want the mets, i would sign up on the team claim thread: HERE

i just recommended that to another FBG, hook014, the (hopefully) new cardinals GM, if he can make sure the game works for him.

I will say that I'm glad to see Scott Kazmir back where he belongs in this thing.
one of the very few things the Rays have done right in real MLB was to get him for a ham sandwich and a bag of batting practice baseballs.

David Wright is a bit underrated at only 3.5 stars.
tell me about it. yet sean burroughs has been better than i ever could have imagined and has actually become all that the padres had initially hoped for him as their 3B of the future before he was discarded to the rays.there are some guys that have ratings that are probably too good and others not good enough, like wright.

What was the original league file that was used for this? I have to believe that the more current ones have him higher than that.

i'm actually not the one who organized the league file, as i'm not the commissioner. i think he got it from a site called "Sim League Central" or something like that. you'll probably have to talk to the guy who spearheaded this for exactly where he took it from as i'm not totally sure. once you join the league and forum, i'll be happy to point you his way.

Okay, I downloaded it and ran it and it worked. I guess because it's free you don't need admin rights for it.
