Standard ESPN scoring w/ .5 PPR

Team A Gives: Ray Rice, Steve Smith (CAR), Fred Davis, and Brandon Jacobs

Team B Gives: Ryan Mathews, Trent Richardson, Antonio Gates, Jordy Nelson

Commish is up in arms about this one, but I don't get it... thoughts?

Your commish doesn't know how to be a commish. Maybe he should stick to just being an owner.

I think we should all start a thread regarding the first trades in our league.

These threads always help the Shark Pool community on the whole, and are never purely selfish in nature.

Why did both teams trade half their teams anyway? Is this a redraft league?
Redraft auction league. Team B and Team A got into a small bid war in the auction. After the draft, the owner who won Ray Rice offered the other owner this trade, essentially saying "If you want Rice so bad, this is what it's going to cost you."Commish sees Rice as clearly the best player in the deal and thinks the other owner is ripping him off (the two trading partners are brothers)

Never allow any trade where one side or the other gets the best player. Good policy.

Ryan Mathews < Ray Rice

Jordy Nelson = Steve Smith (Arguably but I'd rather have Jordy)

Antonio Gates > Fred Davis

Trent Richardson >>> Brandon Jacobs

I think team A likely wins out here but it's not terrible. They lose Ray Rice but gain their choice of Ryan Mathews or Trent Richardson each week, then a big upgrade at TE and a small side-grade at WR. I just don't like trades that move half their players right after the draft, seems stupid.

Your commish should stick to what he knows or can prove to a reasonable degree. Who gives a crap about his opinions on the value of the players. The whole point of the game is that we don't agree on their value. Then, even if his opinions mattered, he has the opinion that one team is ripping of the other. Therefore it isn't collusion and the trade goes through, even by his own stupid standards.

No way should that trade be overturned.

The commish's opinions on players' worth should not influence trades, especially one like that that isn't lopsided.

hang on, I want to comment on every league but there are a million billion of them and I'm barely halfway through.

ps

wasn't there already a ray rice for matthews thread?

just do whatever that other guy did.

These threads pop up every year.THE ONLY REASON TO NOT ALLOW A TRADE IS IF COLLUSION IS SUSPECTED. I see no evidence of that here. I think team B is giving up too much, but thats UP TO HIM TO DECIDE HOW HE VALUES WHO HE'S GIVING UP AND WHO HE'S GETTING.The commish needs to learn what being a commish is about. Its not about judging the equality of a trade. Some trades will look lopsided to others. Again, everyone has different values on players.

I think this trade is the definition of a good trade. Of course there is always going to be a "best player" in a trade. And if you give up the best guy, you should get plenty in return, which is what happened here.

I would actually prefer to get the Ryan Mathews side of this trade.

I agree. I figured he was going to post that the commish was mad because he was getting to much for Rice.

Sounds like you don't have a competent commissioner. It's not a commissioner's job to analyze every detail of a trade to makes sure the value evens out perfectly, according to his unique, personal opinion. That's a fine trade....obviously.With this little "fiasco" happening before week one....sorry to tell you, but you're in for a loooong season.
