Owen Daniels (1 Viewer)

LOCO

Footballguy
what is his story? how hurt is he? is he OUT again this week?

He could have a good 2nd half, if he can stay on the field.

I'd also like to know who his backup is in case he doesn't play. Is it Dreessen or Casey? Both got touches with Dreessen getting more.

I'm cutting ties. He's obviously not back to his old form even when he's on the field. And Dreessen is getting the looks inside the 10.

He's recovering from an ACL tear. Just like Welker. Just like every other player who's ever suffered the injury for 18-24 months after suffering it. He won't have a good (I should say consistently good) 2nd half of the season because he still will not be 18-24 months removed.

He recovered from the ACL, he now has a hamstring issue. Honestly I'm not seeing much upside left for him this year. I don't even think the team will resign him for next year, they are very deep at TE, besides they don't throw the ball around like they used to now that they have a running game.

Well, I cut ties with Daniels also. Picked up Dreeson thinking he will assume Daniels' targets. Ehh, maybe a mistake in a dynasty, but I can't wait any longer on Owen.

It was said locally just this morning that Owens might play this week.

Overall though, Owens is a guy that has had 3 major knee injuries. He's great but the risk is piling up and the Texans like Dreesen and Casey a lot.

Short term, Dreesen is the guy to have when Owens is out. I expect Owens WILL play in the final few games this year but if you can't carry two TEs or whatnot, I would either roll with Dreesen or go to a different Team's TE.

I really think Owens will be with someone else next year so I would be adding Dreesen AND Casey long term. The team likes Casey a lot and he can do a lot of things athletically so I would expect that this will be a true camp battle next year and the winner should have some good value.

I wouldn't feel safe relying on Owen this year. He is hampered by injuries, and even when he has played he has been either limited in snaps or seen a good deal of blocking thanks to the Texans rejuvenated run game. Dreesen is the play for now, and the team seems to like him. I see the Texans cutting ties with Daniels after the season.

TE shuffle continues for me. Anyone taking a chance on Daniels? He has TEN, DEN (week 15/16) neither of these defenses does a good job defending the TE.

could be a sleeper TE that could help during the playoffs.

Just read that Owen looks good to go this weekend. For what it's worth. I have no clue on how usable he'll be and/or how much it'll affect Dreesen's value. I'd be hesitant to start either of them I think.

I'm in the Gates boat as well. However, lets take a step back and realize that Schaub threw the ball 62 times tonight. Daniels has disappeared in plenty of games and then looked pretty good the very next week. If I'm picking up a ww TE for a playoff game then I'm going to look for something a bit more consistent. Who that is, I don't know.

yes he has disappeared at times but what te hasnt? considering that most teams will be struggling at te who would you bench him for? he finally looked healthy and looked decent.

here are the other TE options: gates, Tamme, v davis, witten, cooley, t gonzalez, marcedes lewis, Pettigrew hernandez/gronkowski, winslow, boss, z miller, ben watson, shockey, keller, shiancoe, olsen

id put him in top 7-10 if healthy.

Let me know when you find out, k?

If you have some TE issues I don't know that there is anyone else remotely close out there. I'd say that the OD would be awesome. I have Marcedes Lewis and I am tempted to pick up OD, because Lewis has been inconsistent (though he finally just had a nother good week). He closes on the road @TEN and @DEN. Denver may be a good matchup but it may be in cold weather/conditions. Same for TEN actually and they're not such a great matchup anywa. My question is where in the heck has this been all year?

I have Tamme and may pick this guy up. I can't decide if I should start him over Tamme, but it's tempting based on the matchup.

Daniels was only getting half the reps last night and did not look real good. Dropped an easy 20 yard completion.

There are 7 or 8 guys on your list that if I owned one of them, I wouldn't be putting too much thought into Owen Daniels to begin with.

I don't care how many reps he's getting, there aren't many WW TEs out there putting up 5-91.......especially against a good defense like Baltimore.TENN and DEN are in the Top 10 defenses to play a TE against.

Looking at Daniels, Gronkowski, or Graham for week 15. Got Daniels in there right now but I heard this may be a Gronkowski week, so it's probably a toss up for me.

Im looking hard at either Daniels or Boss now that SSmith and manningham are hurting.

I do like Daniels schedule the rest of the way and 90% of the reviews of his play last night have been positive.

Are the Texans out of the playoff picture now? I just hope these guys don't have a massive letdown and give up after the way they lost this game - that could have a huge impact on the performance of Daniels next week.

yeah I am a Gates orphan as well. For most people in 12 team league the TE pool is probably quite dry. Just checking my WW and the top options at TE are:

Shockey

Daniels

Fasano

Scaife

Not much to pick from, but Daniels' 90+ yards against Baltimore tells me that he is at least better than anyone else on waivers and could be a moster start as someone else said, he's got great TE matchups over the next two weeks.

According to who...?Rotoworld said, and I quote, "The Texans listed Joel Dreessen (zero catches on three targets) as a starter, but Daniels played virtually every snap."

I really thought it could happen this season, but it wasn't to be. Anyway, I look for Daniels to have a monster comeback in 2011 assuming health. The Texans will resign him.

I think Daniels will see a lot of targets again this game because IMO the Titans will roll even more coverage to AJ so he won't toast Innegan every play.

This should leave Daniels 1 on 1 with a linebacker & he should win that battle.

Also, David Anderson was put on IR and he usually gets a few catches underneath. Those looks could go to Daniels.

Not that it matters, but I picked up Daniels to play over Winslow.

This is a tough call. He dropped quite a few very catchable balls last week. He did end up with 5/91 but Schaub threw the ball an inordinate amount of times. I'm not sure how many times he'll have to throw it against the Titans. As a Gates owner and a Houston homer I am having a hard time myself trying to pick between Daniels and Zach Miller.
Similar situation for me. If Gates plays tonight, I will roll with Gates. If nto, Daniels gets the nod this weekend.I didn't get to see much of the game...I'm wondering if he is finally getting his legs back under him or it was, as you say, just an inordinate amount of passes thrown by Schaub.

I watched the whole game. Daniels DEFINITELY seemed to have his legs back. Was actually looking like the guy who was the no. 1 TE. I just hope this isn't a case of first big game back at full strength, but will now be sore from lack of conditioning.

The only negative w/ Daniels is that because Schaub threw 62 passes, we should expect closer to 40 passes this week, so a few less opportunities However, it's one more full week to get back to full strength which is important. Also, if he has 1 or 2 less drops last week, he's well over 100 yards. I think he makes a good play, especially w/ teams putting heavy coverage on AJ.

I think with fewer attempted passes, I see Schaub throwing less to Jacoby Jones and Kevin Walter rather than to Daniels.

Was at the game Monday night and very encouraged by what I saw. He appeared to be moving like he did before the injury last season and didn't seem to have much trouble getting open. He had some uncharacteristic drops, but honestly, that's the least of my worries with him. IMO he'll shake that off. The most important thing for him is that he looked like he's got his legs back. Another thing to consider--Schaub did throw quite a bit more than normal Monday night, but Daniels was also rotating in and out with Dreesen. If his snaps increase these next few weeks I think he'll have some pretty high target numbers...

This game could easily exceed whatever line that's published. All the ingredients are there, poor weather is the only unknown.
Nope the weather is a known and it won't be an issue. It will be mostly sunny with temps in the upper 30s near 40 and virtually no winds. :goodposting: This forecast is about as big of a lock as you can get.

Yahtzee! Not that this is a gambling thread, but it's between 47-48 pts and this will be an early Christmas for anyone w/ players on either side. Daniels is a strong upside play w/ LB's looking to contain Foster and DB's shadowing A Johnson.

How did Daniels look this past week? I didnt get to see the game. 4/45/0 was a little less than I was hoping for. Need to decide between Daniels and Graham for next week.

I think he shared the work almost equally with Dreesen, but I didn't actually get to watch the game. I had Daniels in my lineup after I made a late decision to sit Boss. Not one of my better moves.

Bloom said he scored on a play that was called back.

By the way, I have already subbed Graham in for Daniels, in case you cared.
