Yaahhh.... that sucked. On the plus side I have Foster as my other RB.
Amen brother...It would take a Mayan apocalypse for me to ever have this turd on one of my teams ever again. I don't even care how far he falls. Banned.
I agree with this and the zone blocking scheme was a reason why I was not recommending him this off season. Another season of nagging injuries too though.Still a talent but not in this offensive scheme. Not sure if mcfadden is not smart or patient for zbs but he was wasted this year.
I'll almost guarantee it.Wonder if he blows up next week just to shove it in the face of his fantasy owners.
This. I'll roster him in dynasty were I can build it so he is my RB3/flexThis guy is dead to me. I'll take him as my RB3.

Depends on the coaching situation for me. He's not dead to me but I will be cautious.'solorca said:Maybe I'm a glutton for punishment, but I think there is a good chance he'll end up on some of my teams again next year if he drops to the 3rd round or later.I managed to win my league despite him being my first round pick, and frankly, he had a couple bad games, but he gave me solid RB1/2 level performance in the other weeks (ppr scoring of course).
New hire signals help for McFadden

ALAMEDA – The Raiders chose a coordinator to get their offense back to a power-running scheme suited to star back Darren McFadden.
Oakland hired former Jacksonville quarterbacks coach Greg Olson as its new offensive coordinator Saturday to revive a unit that had its worst production on the ground since 2005.
Coach Dennis Allen interviewed a number of candidates, including Norv Turner and Marc Trestman, before settling on Olson to replace the fired Greg Knapp. The shift in philosophies from this season's offense is a clear acknowledgment that McFadden was not suited to a zone running scheme.
Oakland also hired former Philadelphia assistant Bobby April as special-teams coordinator. Allen still needs to fill openings for an offensive-line coach and linebackers coach.
Olson previously served as offensive coordinator with Detroit, St. Louis and Tampa Bay. Olson spent two years with the Rams (2006 and 2007), during which running back Stephen Jackson rushed for at least 1,000 yards each season, including a career high of 1,528 in 2006.
Olson also helped LeGarrette Blount get a 1,000-yard season in Tampa Bay and played a key role in the development of Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman. Freeman threw 25 touchdown passes and six interceptions, and posted a career-best 95.9 rating in 2010 with Olson calling plays.
Olson has 26 years of coaching experience, including 15 in college and 11 in the NFL. His biggest task in Oakland will be getting McFadden back on track. A first-round pick in 2008, McFadden struggled early in his career with injuries and the zone scheme.
That all changed when Hue Jackson was hired as offensive coordinator in 2010 and implemented a power system better suited to McFadden's skills. In two seasons with Jackson calling plays, McFadden averaged 5.3 yards per carry and broke one of every 15 runs for at least 20 yards.
In 2012, he averaged 3.3 yards per carry – the lowest ever for a Raiders back with at least 150 carries in a season.
can sparano stop him from getting injured every season which causes him to miss multiple games? can sparano get better QB play for the raiders? if not, it wont mean muchraiders just hired tony sparano as the oline coach with other offensive assistant duties. in this role, and his hc role, his teams have been fairly competent at running the ball over the years. reggie bush and ricky williams had rebirths in miami. ronnie brown has some successful years. barber and julius in dallas. last yr shon greene was useful.
Call me crazy but I'm buying.Raiders head coach Dennis Allen said they're going to "limit the times that we ask [Darren McFadden] to do some of the things that he may not be as good at."Analysis: In other words, the Raiders are going to play to McFadden's strengths in 2013. The first step was ditching OC Greg Knapp and his zone-blocking scheme. Oakland has since hired Greg Olson to fill that role, and he is expected to take the lateral running out of the offense. "We're really going to look at the things that McFadden does really well and we're going to try to ask him to do those things as much as possible," said Allen. McFadden will be playing in a contract year in 2013.

Raiders to build run scheme around McFadden
Coach Dennis Allen confirmed that the Raiders will build their rushing offense around Darren McFadden.
After wasting a year trying to force McFadden into former OC Greg Knapp's zone scheme, Allen has taken control now. "(McFadden's) most effective years have been in a downhill, power scheme," Allen said. "That's why Greg Olson and Tony Sparano are here." With Olson calling plays and Sparano coaching the line, McFadden won't have any schematic excuses this year. Entering a contract year, there's plenty of bounce-back appeal here.

Darren McFadden said last year's disappointing performance got his "blood boiling."
McFadden set a career-low in YPC last year at 3.27 and scored just three total touchdowns. For the fifth straight season, his season was derailed by a significant injury. Now he's entering a contract year and the Raiders are building their running game around his downhill, power-running style. He has the natural talent and motivation to bounce back in a big way, but the Raiders' lack of talent at virtually every position will be problematic. Few RB2s will come with more risk.

Huh? One of the top talents in the game? He had one good year, averages about 11 games played a year and has a career 4.3ypc. Sorry, but if he was one of the top talents in the game, that would not be his 5 year career so far. You are a dynasty owner, so his 2010 is clouding your judgement.QUESTION: Injuries are a concern, but how do you guys feel about the probability of McFadden suffering a major, long-term, structural injury that would cut his career short? My Thoughts: Without that type of injury, a career threatening one, I'm holding. Guy is just so loaded with a certain type of talent that you hold. Yeah, he's frustrating to own, but I've had him in dynasty since his rookie year and I think he's one of the top talents in the game. Perhaps, he'll have better luck with the nicks that keep him out of action. It's football, guys get hurt and he plays hard. But, unless I get information that either the style of athlete he is (physically) is short-lived, I take the long-term approach and appreciate the upside when it happens to come together. In the short sample size we have of his career, he's demonstrated that when healthy and playing in a style of football that suits his strengths, he can do things few others can do.Lastly, I've read a couple of places DMC is a bit of a thug. Could it be that he hasn't learned to take care of himself well and keep himself in optimum condition, aka a Jerry Rice? If what I've read is true and this is the case, I could see room for improvement in his physical conditioning, thus more likelihood for him to stay healthy.
For a guy who has never gotten more than 223 carries in a year, projecting him at 250 is probably not wise. Not sure if Flynn/a rookie will make defenses respect the pass more than Palmer. While Palmer wasn't great, he threw for 4018 yards and I can't imagine Flynn/Wilson exceeding that. The more I think about McFadden being a potential value, the more I think I would rather grab Colston/Wayne/Welker/Brady/Ryan than even take a chance on McFadden. I don't think he is going low enough based on the floor (2009/2012) he could hit. The guys I listed are guys around where McFadden is ranked in redraft-ppr on FBGs. If that is where he goes, no way is he on my team. I just don't think he chance to repeat 2010 is even close to his chance to repeat 2012, especially as you mention that he drops from having a 4000 yard passer in Palmer to Flynn/a rookie.Added him this offseason. Hope that playing for a contract gives him the motivation to light the lamp one more time. Also hoping that Latavius Murray emerges as a clear hand cuff. The situation last year with about 12 dudes getting picked up would not be a situation I'd love. If Flynn or Wilson can at least force teams to respect the pass and the departure from the ZBS can get his YPC back to 4.5, he might see 250 carries and 40 catches. That'd probably make him a low-end RB1.
Which really just comes back to his health. He played in 13 games in 2010 and during 2010 and 2011 he had a YPC in the mid fives. My only real hope is that he's playing for a new contract which keeps him on the field. I don't anticipate Flynn/Wilson performing better than Palmer, just hope they can keep defenses somewhat honest. For a guy who has never gotten more than 223 carries in a year, projecting him at 250 is probably not wise. According to CSN Bay Area, Darren McFadden "couldn’t be more motivated" heading into the final year of his contract.
So he's got that going for him, which is nice. DMC has called his disastrous 2012 — where he averaged a mind-numbing 3.27 yards per carry — "blood boiling," so we already knew he was out to make things right. The problem is, his motivation didn't appear to be the issue last season. DMC's 2013 will be all about how he adjusts to the Raiders' reinstallation of a power-blocking scheme. For all we know, he could look like the player he was before injury wrecked his 2011, but it's never safe to assume things are going to work out with one of the league's most perennially disappointing players.

The motivation of Mr. Glass is irrelevant. He's just as succeptible to injury as a non-motivated Mr. Glass.Rotoworld:

Bradshaw is not unproven; he has done more with less opportunity (late pick who was not handed a starting job the way McFadden was) by a long shot. It is true that Bradshaw is on a new team and that could impact his production. It is also true that he is an injury risk, but unlike McFadden, Bradshaw plays hurt and plays well.I could see some decent value here, would appreciate a few of you guys who have "sworn off this bum" to draft ahead of me in the mid to late 3rd round.
ADP looks like McFadden is the LAST of the backs who have shown some decent upside (Wilson + Miller) and McFadden is ahead of only the completely unproven rookies (Bell, Ball) and the unknown, unproven, and equally injury prone (Ivory, Bradshaw, and Mathews).
I would totally take him late 3rd, early 4th and consider it a steal if a few of my fav WRs are gone.
To the bolded, because we aren't drafting for past production. As of today, there is every reason to believe McFadden will get more touches this season than either Bradshaw or Stewart, and quite possibly by a large margin. And McFadden's production per touch when playing in the style of offense he will play in this season is comparable to or better than the others. Are you really puzzled by this? The answer to your question is obvious.Bradshaw is not unproven; he has done more with less opportunity (late pick who was not handed a starting job the way McFadden was) by a long shot. It is true that Bradshaw is on a new team and that could impact his production. Bradshaw:
Attempts: 921 Yards 4232 YPC 4.6 TDs 32 Receptions 132 Receiving Yards1087McFadden:
Attempts 769 Yards 3334 YPC 4.3 TDs 18 Receptions 158 Rec. Yards 1449Jonathan Stewart:
Attempts: 818 Yards: 3836 YPC 4.7 TDs 27 Receptions 98 Rec Yards 859So, why should McFadden be drafted in the third or early fourth, when you could get Bradshaw or Stewart many rounds later? His YPC on a similar number of carries--a statistically meaningful number--is significantly less. His TDs are far less. He catches more and could be more valuable in PPR, but it isn't enough to compensate for the lack of TDs. All three are injury risks.
