P.Thomas RB1? (1 Viewer)

I also liked the fella and without Bush there could Thomas post rb1 numbers from here on. He catches the ball very well and will get alot of more looks here and is the GL rb as well. I see he is ranked as the #3 rb for this week but even after that how how is the ceiling for Thomas now?

(Rotoworld) An unnamed Saints coach has confirmed that Pierre Thomas "will probably get more snaps" following Reggie Bush's fractured fibula.Analysis: "And we'll probably change some stuff with our receivers," the coach said. "It will take a little tinkering." Thomas has averaged 24 touches over the first two games, and he'll continue to see 20+ touches per week as a RB1 while Bush is sidelined. Deep leaguers should kick the tires on Lance Moore, who saw an increased role in 2008 when Bush went down.

pierre got a lot of touches when reggie was in as well.

he had 22 touches in week 1, including a gl plunge. week 2 he had 26 including some gl attempts that he didnt convert. bush got a carry from like the 5. evans vultured from the gl after pierre was stuffed a few times.

id say his value went up a tad. he will catch a few more passes and get a few more scoring opps bc they liked to run bush sometimes at the gl to 5yrd line.

fwiw, i had pierre as a "rb1" going into the season.

The Saints also just released DeShawn Wynn, making Thomas the only currently-healthy running back on the roster, unless Chris Ivory is ready to come back. Thomas should see a TON of work for the next four-to-six weeks with Bush out.

Didn't they pick up Betts?
Yes, I believe they did, but I'm too lazy to find a link. But regardless, there's a reason they cut Betts in the first place. I see PT being a true full-time back. The only threat will come from Evans on the GL.

I think that the biggest threat is whether Thomas can remain healthy with a heavier workload. His track record for health is not the best. I hope that he can since I drafted him.

Bush had 7 touches week 1 and 9 in week 2.

Of those, 7 were carries and 9 were receptions.

Not sure how many were in the red zone, but I know 2 of them were last week. Pierre getting all of the red zone looks and a total of at least 5 more touches/game is enough to launch him up into the top 10-12 RB's on a given week.

I don't think PT's value changes much with Bush out. PT was getting 20-25 touches even when Bush was around. I can't see him getting more than that. NO has to make sure they keep PT healthy.

You say "top end rb1". No, I don't think he becomes a top end rb1 just because he should get a couple more touches per game. On average, he was the 15th rb drafted. This might move him into the 10-12 range, which makes him a low end #1, high end #2 rb.

Bush was getting redzone looks. PT was being pulled inside the 5. I think his value improves significantly just based on that.

Other than missing the first 2 games last season, I don't recall him missing games as a starter. Even as the only RB on the roster he is a low end RB1 to me in this pass first offense that spreads the ball around pretty evenly.
