I hate to say it, because he is a cold blooded killer, but you almost have to admire a man that is ready for either soup or salad.

So.

Pretty sure I'm the most local FBG to this whole deal. Let's get the following out of the way:

  • Yes, I'm a hick.
  • Yes, I have friends who are survivalists.
  • Yes, there's some really weird stuff in the Poconos.
This guy was not only intelligent, but also well-prepared. When this all started, I was ready to bet money that Frein would be captured within days. It seemed like a fairly smart bet, considering the $175,000 bounty on his head and the number of hunters in the area.

After the first week, most people here assumed that the PSP were incompetent. As the search progressed, and the FBI and SWAT became involved, the general sentiment turned to "Okay, they can't ALL be incompetent." The dude was simply good at concealing himself.

The finally caught him within 3 miles of where my wife works every day; she manages a PNC branch.

And yes, it has running water. ;)

Why hasn't the Pope condemned this guy yet? All it does is make all Christians seem like cop killers if they don't condemn this guy.

Ah but does it have both cold and HOT water?

So here's a question I haven't necessarily seen answered - Was this hanger his base-of-operations from day one? That is, did he plan on heading to this hanger from the start and know of its existance? Or did he start in the wilderness and migrate there? That's A LOT of stuff to lug around through the woods, but I guess he could've done it.

I was just curious if he knew from the start that this hanger would be a good place to lay low...if that's the case, I give him a LOT less credit for avoiding capture, because it wasn't really avoiding...it was just hiding somewhere he thought they wouldn't look.

Text of Suspect Eric Frein's Letter to Parents: Link

Authorities in Pennsylvania on Thursday released a letter they said was written by state police ambush suspect Eric Frein during his time on the run. The text, addressed to Mom and Dad, reads:

Our nation is far from what it was and what it should be. I have seen so many depressing changes made in my time that I cannot imagine what it must be like for you. There is so much wrong and on so many levels only passing through the crucible of another revolution can get us back the liberties we once had. I do not pretend to know what that revolution will look like or even if it would be successful.

Tension is high at the moment and the time seems right for a spark to ignite a fire in the hearts of men. What I have done has not been done before and it felt like it was worth a try.

If I am dead I would like to be buried in a wood casket (no lead lined casket!) so that my remains can return to where they came from. I realize that this may not be possible though, laws and what not, so don't sweat it. Also, light a candle for me at the Russian or Greek Orthodox church in Stroudsburg from time to time. It doesn't need to be during a liturgy, just whenever they are open. I am sure you can figure it out.

I do not have a death wish but I know the odds. I tried my best to do this thing without getting identified, but if you are reading this then I was not successful. If I am still alive and free know that I will do my best to remain as such. And as time goes by, if circumstances change, if my spark hit good tinder, then I may be able to return one day.

I am sorry. You guys are great parents, I am just not a good son. I squandered so much opportunity and support and rarely tried my best at anything. God knows I do not deserve the things I had, maybe He knew I would be sacrificing all of it in the end, or maybe this is just the final squander. Who knows.

I love you. Please forgive me of my many faults. And thanks for putting up with me for so long.
##### him.
