Pacific Northwest Heat Dome™️ - check in PNW’ers (1 Viewer)

Enjoying this morning. Fans set up at every window pulling 65 degrees goodness in from all angles.

We made it!

That 90 degree high today will feel like nothing.

they all sold out of window units?   just need a small one for a single room where you can hunker down.  rest of the fam can fend for themselves.

Willamette Valley (Newberg), OR.  A/C hanging in there but definitely getting taxed.  The bigger issue for me has been the new vines we planted last fall.  I spent the last week running 4,000 feet of drip irrigation line to (hopefully) save them.  Between unrolling the constantly kinking hose in 1,000 foot segments, clipping it to the wire thousands of times over, and installing the drip emitters one by one, a truly underrated miserable experience.  But at least we planted in the fall and had the winter rains to build a water base to get them started - those who planted in the spring are in trouble.
Picpoul Blanc? 😁

100-104 for another week.
We will be near 100 for the next week in Central Oregon, but at least the temps are going to drop into the 50's every night.  Makes it livable for those of us without AC, when we can cool down the house day to day.

We have a really good heat pump, central air, and a modest sized home, so it actually got cold in my house.

Grew up in Eastern OR where we actually got hot weather, although usually in July/august.  Living in Western OR (wife grew up over here) the deal is sposed to be complaining about the dreary, wet winters.......

Biggest concern moving forward is another bad fire season......soooooo much fuel

The best thing we ever did was to negotiate the installation of central AC when we bought our house. I wouldn't even otherwise know there was a heat wave going on right now. I am so thankful we have it.

Last three days have hit 100+ in Eugene, today and tomorrow supposed to as well. My central A/C can't quite keep up with that heat, the house creeps up to close to 80 by 4:00-5:00 each day despite the thermostat being set at 72 and the AC running all day. And in my office, a shed in the backyard with one of those portable AC units with the tube out the window, it struggles to keep it below 85 on a 100 degree day. But that's largely because the shed is finished but wasn't insulated (considering ripping out the sheet rock to insulate the sucker).

No AC in my old house. Window unit and a rolling one. It's good enough, but not great. Luckily I can get the house cooled off right when I wake up and keep it in the low to mid 70s until 3 or 4pm, but then I'm blasting the AC until well into the early morning.

Road construction down the street knocked out power to about 2800 homes, including mine. Very likely the hottest day of the year today. Good job, guys!

Installed a heat pump since heat dome. Enjoying that purchase.
I need to look into this. What did that run you?
Here’s the thread

Been a minute and I had forgotten some of this. Don’t want to offer up anyone but there was some good advice in here from some experts (you know who you are!).

I would def recommend this tech. Portland is hotter than up here and it will make these few weeks a year so much nicer for you. Also do heat well in the winter.
