I agree. Tate gets both hands on before Jennings hits the ground.I've watched the play over and over, and it's still a touchdown to me (and I don't have a dog in this fight). Jennings hadn't established possession yet (because you have to complete the catch, feet down) when Tate got his hand on the ball. I think it's clearly simultaneous possession. Obviously I'm in the minority here, but I think it was the correct call.
i picture you sitting on your couch laughing hysterically while trying to catch your breath to tell your friend that you need to tell the internet what you are doing. And now Packers have to find their helmets and waste 10 more minutes. This is beyond hilarious.
Seahawks don't think much of you either from what I hear.Seahawks have no respect from me.
Maybe, but the Titans guy knocked it down yesterday, which is how Titus Young caught the TD.Jennings fault for not knocking it down and going for INT
I'd say it will end up being 50/50 with people. I thought Jennings had control before Tate got any type of possession. But maybe we can change the rule that there are no joint catches, it is a fight to the "death" with whoever holding the ball last wins.I've watched the play over and over, and it's still a touchdown to me (and I don't have a dog in this fight). Jennings hadn't established possession yet (because you have to complete the catch, feet down) when Tate got his hand on the ball. I think it's clearly simultaneous possession. Obviously I'm in the minority here, but I think it was the correct call.Regardless, I'm glad it's being considered a bad call, because it may FINALLY be the thing that gets the real refs back.
BINGO.Except Jennings is down before tate gets two hands on the ball. The obvious O PI non call aside. Even if the D player "has more of the ball" it's still the O's ball.Watch it again. The amazing thing is everyone is here is going to bash the refs.....
AND IT"S THE 100% RIGHT CALL
Agree. Simultaneous possession doesn't discern who has more possession. If Tate wrestles the ball away before the defender is down in the end zone with the ball, it's still live and it's simultaneous possession. I think.
Well at the end of the season in the standings, there isn't a "deserved to win" column. Not a Seahawks fan but I live here and I agree. The problem is the officiating is so bad it affects the outcome of games too many times over to know who would win in a Legitimate contest. Someone in here posted that regardless of who wins it would be illegitimate. He was right. Wipe this and about half the games played thus far off the books.Seriously Seahawks fans, it's cool to be excited about a win. But there is no way you deserved this victory.

Can't review/overturn for thatI can understand thinking it was simultaneous possession in real time. (thought I can NOT understand missing that pass interference, the most blatant I've ever seen)But they had a chance to make it right with the replay!!! What happened!?!??
I had Seahawks on the money line parlayed with the under at 25.5. PAT killed me!!!!Covers is exploding. http://www.covers.com/postingforum/POST01/showmain.aspx?spt=21

A hand on the ball is not possession.I've watched the play over and over, and it's still a touchdown to me (and I don't have a dog in this fight). make up call for Super Bowl XL.No disagreement. But really, the last 5 minutes had 3 game-changing plays in favor of Seattle, and all 3 were bad calls. Absolutely brutal. The entire NFL should be embarrassed by this. Not a Seahawks fan but I live here and I agree. I stopped reading right there.I'm a Patriots fan
You're so full of crack it's not even funny. When you're ready to join reality, let us know.I agree. Tate gets both hands on before Jennings hits the ground.I've watched the play over and over, and it's still a touchdown to me (and I don't have a dog in this fight). I'm fairly sure Jennings doesn't have to get his feet down (to establish prior control rather than simultaneous control), and I'm also fairly sure that getting a hand on the ball doesn't constitute possession.Jennings had control of the ball while Tate just had a hand on it. I don't think that qualifies as simultaneous possession.I do think, however, that it was a difficult call to make on the field without the help of replay.I've watched the play over and over, and it's still a touchdown to me (and I don't have a dog in this fight). Jennings hadn't established possession yet (because you have to complete the catch, feet down) when Tate got his hand on the ball. I think it's clearly simultaneous possession. I'll start next week since I have Ray RiceI'm going to boycott the Thursday night game because of the refs
Even if you're right, which you're not, there is still the flagrant missed PI.I agree. Tate gets both hands on before Jennings hits the ground.I've watched the play over and over, and it's still a touchdown to me (and I don't have a dog in this fight). I don't think they had much of a choice.I am a big Vikings fan and I couldn't think of a better way for the Packers to lose.(That was an interception in my opinion)Kudos to the Packer players that came back out for the extra point. Classy way to handle it.
i agree these guys are a joke, but everybody acts now like the old refs were gods that never screwed up and will never screw up in the future...give them whatever they want to get them back on the field. remember the calvin johnson td from a couple of years back? sure they spun it into some "well according to the rule", but the guy obviously caught the ball and was celebrating the td when he dropped it. they will do the same thing with this one. some league exec will get on tv saying it was the right call and they will spin it into a rule change or something like that. it has happened before and it will happen again, regardless of real officials or not.mike tirico just said basically the same thing..."if you have regular officials out there, that's a really hard call"Was waiting for shlock post like this. They were not even the proper position to make the call....they are a joke. Please man.i love how everybody assumes that the real refs would have made a different call.
Bill Simmons @sportsguy33
Mike McCarthy should have ran back out on the field naked from the waist down.

Nothing will top the Harden half court lob to cover +4 in the finals last season in a loss. I thought their servers were going to crash. Hysterical with all the ratty emoticons they use and such.Covers is exploding. http://www.covers.com/postingforum/POST01/showmain.aspx?spt=21

First thing that popped into my mind when I saw that replay.Do you all think the regular refs are sitting and drinking some beers and laughing their asses off. Hahahah what a fn'ing joke. NFL should give them what they want and extra. This is a joke.
But you can (and must) review for possession. Tate had a hand touching the ball, but a reasonable person wouldn't argue that he controlled the ball.I don't think you can review for simultaneous possession.
And the Browns, right?I'm going to boycott the Thursday night game because of the refs
Yup.Seeing it live I thought they both had possession so TD. Seeing the replay I'd give it to Jennings for the INT.
It's unreal isn't it?The picture tomorrow of the two refs with opposite calls is gonna be iconic tomorrow.
You're assuming the real refs would have made the same call. They wouldn't have. that was a clear PI on Tate and an interception by Jennings. There may have been plenty of places through the course of the game that had to do with the replacement refs. But the final play says nothing at all about the officiating. Regular crew of refs could have called it either way, including 2 refs calling it differently. And I doubt they'd overturn regardless of the call on the field.
I highly doubt the real refs miss Tate shoving Shields down prior to the ball arriving regardless of the ridiculousness of them missing the INT.There may have been plenty of places through the course of the game that had to do with the replacement refs. But the final play says nothing at all about the officiating. Regular crew of refs could have called it either way, including 2 refs calling it differently. And I doubt they'd overturn regardless of the call on the field.
I'm sure they're wor...wait, what?Seahawks have no respect from me.
I agree. The picture tomorrow of the two refs with opposite calls is gonna be iconic tomorrow.
Um, I'm watching the slow-mo, and that's what I see. Jennings catches the ball. Tate has one hand on the ball. As they go down, he puts his second hand on the ball. By the time Jennings hits the ground, Tate has two hands on the ball. You're so full of crack it's not even funny. When you're ready to join reality, let us know.I agree. Tate gets both hands on before Jennings hits the ground.I've watched the play over and over, and it's still a touchdown to me (and I don't have a dog in this fight). I was thinking the same thing when I saw that. Anyone have a screen shot of it?The picture tomorrow of the two refs with opposite calls is gonna be iconic tomorrow.
Did you see the end of the Titans Lions game?Thats why you bat the ball away as a defender I guess![]()
