Titans: Club owner says Pacman Jones knew shooter

The Associated Press

LAS VEGAS - The co-owner of the strip club where three people were shot over the NBA All-Star weekend says pro football player Adam "Pacman" Jones came and left with the shooter, an account that differs from that of Jones' lawyer.

"He denied any knowledge of the shooter, but he was sitting right next to him," club co-owner Robert Susnar told the Las Vegas Review-Journal for Wednesday's edition. "Those guys came in together and left together."

Jones' lawyer, Worrick Robinson, told The Associated Press on Tuesday that Jones did not know anyone involved in the shooting and was interviewed by local authorities as a witness, not as a suspect. Police have not said Jones is a person of interest in the case.

Susnar said his recollection of the events was based upon his interviews with employees and club surveillance video.

He said the trouble started after 4 a.m., when Jones and his entourage of a half-dozen people returned to the club for the second time that evening.

Jones tossed hundreds of $1 bills on the stripper stage, Susnar said, adding that when a dancer started grabbing the money without Jones' permission, he got angry, grabbed her hair and slammed her head against the stage.

Security guard Aaron Cudworth, a mixed-martial artist with professional fighting experience, intervened and scuffled with Jones and members of his entourage, he said.

Jones then threatened to kill the guard, Susnar said.

Order was eventually restored and everyone moved outside before the gunman opened fire toward the front door of the club, hitting Cudworth, security guard Tom Urbanski and a female customer, he said.

"He goes out, retrieves a gun, then shoots two security guards, pretty much making good on the threat made by Pacman Jones," Susnar said.

Robinson told the paper that the entertainers began throwing cash into the air, sparking a fight among women on and off the stage as they scrambled for the money. He said Jones was attacked when he tried to get his own money back. "Mr. Jones didn't assault anybody," Robinson said.

Robinson and Susnar did not immediately respond to messages left by The Associated Press Wednesday.

Cudworth, who was shot in the chest and arm, was released from University Medical Center on Tuesday. Urbanski, 43, remained at the hospital in critical condition. He was expected to live, but a bullet severed his spine and paralyzed him below the waist, his father told the paper.

"He's going to be paralyzed for life, and what did he do?" Don Urbanski said. "I just want somebody to pay for it."

Jones has faced criminal charges three times since the Tennessee Titans made the cornerback the sixth overall pick in the 2005 draft - all involving incidents at nightclubs in Tennessee.

The cornerback promised he had seen the inside of a courtroom for the last time Feb. 1, when a judge dismissed an assault charge filed by a woman who claimed Jones spit on her during an October nightclub altercation.

Charges in a confrontation with a club manager during a private party in July 2005 also have been dismissed.

Jones was ordered to stay out of trouble until July 5 if he wants his criminal record cleared of public intoxication and disorderly conduct charges for an August arrest in the Nashville suburb of Murfreesboro.

Robinson said he didn't think the Las Vegas incident violated the judge's order.

heard him on Mike & Mike this morning. snippets from another interview apparently.

if the club owner is 100% telling the truth then Pacman is in for some jail time. videotape'll have to tie him to the murder. but he's gonna get in trouble for beating up the stripper for sure.

Just heard the club owner on the Dan Patrick Show.Pacman is screwed.
Care to share why that may be for those who have not listened to the interview.....
The owner discribed what happen like this.Pacman threw money in the air (it's called, "making it rain")One of the strippers started picking the money up right away.Pacman grabbed the girl by the hair and punched her in the face.Bouncer grabbed Pacman.Pacman's girlfriend hits Bouncer in the head with bottle of ChampainPacman's "crew" jumps Bouncer.Pacman bits Bouncer in ankle.Pacman chases down stripper and bunched her again.Bouncer grabs Pacman again.Pacman yells, "I just going to kill your ###"!20mins later, Bouner was shot. One bullet severed his spin.I think I got most of it.

Murder? Last I heard was that 3 people were shot: Two were released from the hospital and one was in critical condition. Did he die?

According to the news here, the video shows Pacman punching a stripper in the face. It also shows that the shooter was clearly an associate of Jones. Pacman has accused Nelly (who was also there) of instigating and escalating the mayhem.

The one dollar bills is a new thing.....these guyz (z intentional, make of it what you will) bring bricks of $1.00 bills into clubs and "make it rain" money. Dennis Rodman did it the same night in Scores, also causing chaos and fighting, but no gunshots. "Makin' it Rain" is the "new" thing amongst the gangsta's. It used to be they would just sit in a roped off area drinking Cristal and Grey Goose. Now they have to incite riots.

More and more is coming out about all star weekend here - it was a horrific experience for many. Seven reported shootings - but there were many more. An employee of Mandalay Bay was shot* in their parking lot, but that has been for the most part kept out of the papers - the Casinos hate that kind of pub.

ETA: * and killed

Wow...this is unbelievable. This guy can't stay away from trouble.
Imagine all of the stuff that he's involved in where he is not caught. I'd love to see the NFL come down VERY hard on this, if it turns out to be true. Suspending him for a year if not life, would likely change the minds of some other future thugs. I'd like to see the NFL have a mandatory weekend of do's and don'ts that includes everyone, not just the rookies. Have some influential speakers like Javon Walker, et al speak of the dangers that life in the NFL brings, etc. It's time they do something like this or the NFL could turn into the NBA.

If true, me too....

:boxing:
What is especially funny about this post is that 2 days after Darrant Williams died in Javon Walker's lap, Walker was here in Las Vegas, partying at Tao with Derek Jeter.

Why don't the Titans insert some clause in his contract that he can't go to bars or strip clubs. They would be doing the rest of the world a favor too. I f'n hate people like this at clubs. It's one of the reasons I almost never go anymore. You want to go out and have a good time and some jackass shoots up the place or starts a riot.

That clause would be useless. He'd just go start #### at a Wal-Mart or something.

OK, maybe Javon Walker isn't the best option here. I thought he may have turned over a HUGE leaf after what happened to Darrent Williams right in front of him.

someone in the SP linked an article stating that the stripper Pacman punched made off with a bag filled with $81,000 in cash plus two Breitling watches.

now i'm not saying i'm gonna have one of my friends shoot 3 people over that but i'll be damned if i'm letting someone run off with that much of my money without punching someone in the head.

I agree. How dare he have the gall to go to a bar.

I'm sure Walker was there to drown his sorrows as many of us have from time to time. Jeter, being the saint that he is, was just lending a shoulder for Javon to cry on. And that's keeping it real.

http://www.reviewjournal.com/lvrj_home/200...s/12741485.htmlA topless dancer promoter took a trash bag full of NFL player Adam "Pacman" Jones' cash and fled the Minxx strip club early Monday, leading to a brawl and shooting that injured three people, one critically, according to a search warrant obtained Wednesday by the Review-Journal.

The search warrant, issued Monday in District Court, was for Chris Mitchell's room at the Silverton casino and hotel. Mitchell, who has been interviewed by police, had promoted a four-day event at Minxx for the NBA All-Star weekend. He had brought in dancers from his Houston-based strip club, Harlem Knights, to perform at the 4636 Wynn Road venue, near Tropicana Avenue and Valley View Boulevard.

Las Vegas police recovered more than $81,000 in cash from Mitchell's room that investigators believe belonged to Jones, a 23-year-old cornerback for the Tennessee Titans. They also recovered a brown cloth bag and two Breitling watches, but it was not clear who owned those items.

The search warrant also shed light on some missing details about what happened inside the strip club before the 5 a.m. shooting occurred.

Cornelius Haynes Jr., better known as the rapper Nelly, and rapper Jermaine Dupri, were also at the club and sitting with Jones's entourage in the VIP section, the warrant stated.

Haynes had tossed hundreds of $1 bills on the stripper stage, an action known in street slang as "making it rain," and Jones joined in.

An announcer told all the dancers to go to the center stage, and about 40 strippers soon were on the stage.

Mitchell told the strippers from his Houston club to pick up the money, which apparently was only supposed to be used for visual effect, the warrant stated.

One of the dancers than took the trash bag filled with Jones' money and a "melee broke out. Jones became irate about the loss of his money, and the fact that girls were in a frenzy, picking up the money at their feet," the warrant stated.

Mitchell took the bag of cash and left the club.

Inside was chaos.

A woman with Jones, Sadia Morrison, was soon fighting with a stripper. Bouncers rushed in.

"Jones became extremely irate, telling security to back off and 'don't touch his girls,' " the warrant stated.

Jones soon engaged the bouncers who were trying to break up the scuffle, according to the warrant. "Jones challenged security and reached behind his back as if he were retrieving a weapon there," the warrant stated.

The bouncers were able to move Jones out of the club and turned their attention to Morrison, who was biting security and screaming. "Sadia (Morrison) picked up a champagne bottle and hit one security guard, Aaron Cudworth, in the head with it," according to the warrant.

Morrison was soon tossed out of the club.

A few minutes later, outside the club, a man with a cornrow hairdo fired a semi-automatic handgun, striking Cudworth, security guard Tom Urbanski and a female customer.

No arrests have been made.

A Metropolitan Police Department source has said an associate of Jones might have been the triggerman. "We think the link is strong, but we haven't been able to verify it," the source said Tuesday.

During an interview with detectives, Mitchell said he took Jones' money because he thought it was for the dancers, according to the warrant.

Cudworth, who was shot in the chest and arm, was released from University Medical Center on Tuesday.

Urbanski remained at UMC in critical condition. He was expected to live, but a bullet severed his spine and paralyzed him below the waist, his father said.

Minxx co-owner Rob Susnar said Tuesday that Jones had come into the club with the shooter and was sitting with him.

Susnar said when one of the strippers started grabbing the money without Jones' permission, he got angry, grabbed her hair and slammed her head against the stage.

Susnar also accused Jones of threatening Cudworth's life as he tried to break up the fight. A melee ensued as Cudworth scuffled with Jones and members of his entourage, Susnar said.

Jones' lawyer, Worrick G. Robinson, on Wednesday reiterated that Jones disputes that account.

"I've tried to explain my understanding of what occurred. I think it really speaks for itself, and I don't have anything else to add," Robinson said. "We will let Metro continue with their investigation, and we anticipate their findings will be consistent with our investigation."

In the meantime, Jones has left Las Vegas, Robinson said.

Robinson has been in communication with the investigating detectives and said Jones will be available to police if they need him.

Detectives interviewed Jones on Monday about his time at Minxx.

Robinson said Jones is not a suspect in the shooting.

Jones was showering more than 40 strippers onstage at Minxx Gentlemen's Club & Lounge early Monday with the cash "intended as a visual effect,"
Mitchell, according to the warrant, "admits that he took the money in the bag belonging to Jones because he thought it was for the dancers."
WTF?!Pacman throws money all over the stage and then the strippers and patrons are supposed to return the cash to him? What wonderful neighborhood did Pacman grow up in that everyone just returns whatever cash you happen to throw on the ground?

Mitchell, according to the warrant, "admits that he took the money in the bag belonging to Jones because he thought it was for the dancers."
 :kicksrock:   :suds:that defense is gonna hold up well. especially when she brought it back to her room.

Hey Pacman? Remember all that cash the Titans gave you when you signed your contract? It was just a "visual effect" and we expect it back or we kick your mom's face in.

I'm trying to picture $81,000 in one dollar bills. Although if it was for effect, which is what I believe I heard the club owner say in an interview this morning, I'd be irate over someone making off with my money too. However it was at the least, horrible judgment on his part. What could possibly go wrong with leaving $81,000 lying around a strip club?

So, who besides Pacman knew the cash was just for show? The ESPN article references the warrants claim that the promoter - Mitchell - thought the cash was for the stripper.

;)read the police blotter in Vegas this weekend. i'm gonna go ahead and guess there are shootings, robberies and *gasp* murders (!!) even.but when the NBA shows up, couple hundred thousand extra tourists of all stripes in tow.. and suddenly Vegas is a dangerous, hellhole, filled with "scum" NBA players and their "scum posse".crime happens. it gets splashed on the front page of every sports outlet because Pacman Jones is involved in something and it becomes a war-zone or something.

that guy better have a signed contract with Jones' name on it explicitly stating that $81k was due the strippers and would be paid in singles stuffed in a garbage bag... or he's gonna start looking like a liar awfully quick.
