All Star weekend was NOT a typical Las Vegas. Most of you realize that, but those that are trying to defend the gang bangers and thugs that invaded this city refuse to acknowledge it because they think it is an attack on blacks. It is not. If the fact that they are black is your overriding concern you have issues (whether you are black or white) - the concern should be that these are horrible people that should all be incarcerated or worse. Here are some facts. You won't find links to much of it, because the Hotels do a very good job of covering up negative publicity (and you know I am a stickler for links - so if you don't believe it, whatever, I can't help you):1. There were a reported 362 arrests, but the number was closer to 600 according to the wife of a Metro officer I am on an industry board with.2. The Flamingo Hilton had over 40 rooms destroyed. Toilets ripped out, beds set on fire, lamps and desks busted. 3. A Mandalay Bay employee was shot and killed and robbed in the parking lot. This has not been reported, but it came directly to me from someone in management there. Additionally, they had 50+ arrests there between Thursday at 8:00 pm and Sunday midnight.4. 30 thugs ransacked and looted the 7-11 on the Strip. They were smiling and laughing into the camera as it went down.5. Coco's downtown was taken for 40 meals on Saturday night as people ate and left - one thug spitting in the face of the owner when she tried to step in and stop his party from leaving without paying. 6. Apparently most of the major violence was caused by crips and bloods who infiltrated the city from LA and San Diego.7. At least two cab drivers were beaten so severely they were hospitalized - 1 in critical condition.8. Several fights broke out on the floor of the MGM (amongst many all over the city - all reports indicate that the fighting was never limited to two combatants) including one right outside Studio 54 that had as many as 15 bangers going at it at one point.9. People were "ghostriding" on the strip....I am not even sure what the hell this means, but my collections person who went down to the strip said she saw it happening....10. Two maintenance guys at the Mirage were jumped and beaten - apparently just for fun....Great weekend - you can keep the NBA in your city....we don't want it.
Thank God I live in Austin.

Those justifying that All Star weekend in Vegas was "normal" Vegas, have not been there during both times.

Here is yet another article to say otherwise...

Vegas Anger At All-Star Crowd

The stories about the crowds in town for All-Star weekend continue to be draw-dropping. And, locals don't seem ready to move on yet. Let me preface this by saying the resorts take a lot of pride in customer service. Frontline workers on the Strip are not minimum wage workers but highly compensated professionals offering a mix of obsequiousness and hard work that is meant to give every tourist the VIP experience. So, Vegas workers will put up with a lot from tourists without complaining. Casino workers rarely confront troublesome customers rather they try to soothe things over. The sad truth is that the more obnoxious tourists can often bully their way into comps and other treats meant to keep everyone happy.

But the over-the-top "thug" behavior of the All-Star NBA crowd has left in its wake a boiling fury among cocktail waitresses, bartenders, security and other jaded pros of the Strip. Among the nightclubs where incidents seem to have taken place on the Strip are hot spots at Wynn, Mandalay Bay and freestanding Empire Ballroom. Off Strip, the topless bars proved a center for problems, too. The stories range from bottles being thrown at employees to guns being confiscated. An employee at Empire told me about having to hide in the back with other workers when a melee broke out shortly after reports that a gun had found its way into the club. For the entire weekend this person reported that female bartenders and cocktail servers at Empire were routinely addressed by customers with obscenities the nicest of which rhymes with witch. I have heard similar treatment was meted out by customers to servers at Pure. Even the usually mellow Peppermill seems to have been the scene of hassles.

Of course, the incident so far getting press attention is the shooting at the strip club Minxx. That incident combines many of the factors that workers blame for the problems elsewhere: outside promoters, celebrities with large entourages and irresponsible behavior by everyone involved. The Review-Journal reports police have talked to NFL player Adam "Pacman" Jones who may have known the shooter.

In all the uproar over the tourists who came here last weekend, particularly disconcerting to the servers I interviewed was the question if race played a part in their perception of the crowd. All denied it. One worker at Empire told me: "These were thugs. It was mostly black people, yes, but this had nothing to do with race. I also got called 'slut' by a white guy with a grill. It was thug culture."

In all Las Vegas seems traumatized by the entire experience of All-Star weekend.

I think it's time we took a different strategy when dealing with gang members.

Kill them. Bullet to the head, no questions asked.

They fight each other, dine and ditch, assualt people, just shoot them on the spot. Assume they are armed and will use their weapon.

I don't care if they aren't, they shouldn't associate with gangs if they're worried 'bout gettin clapped.

No, not fishing.
Big crime here.
Society basically functions on a trust. If you stop and think of all you COULD get away with, via either cunning or force, you would be flabbergasted. But in operating a business, especially one where the service or good precedes payment, you live and die by that trust. For the most part, it is kept, but when it breaks, it is something almost deeper than a heinous crime, its an errosion of some collective common decency which unites us as humans and Americans. You should not go to the chair for dine and ditch, but you should not pass it off as something harmless, especially if it happens on a mass basis. It's very troubling to know any segment of people could be responsibile for this.

Awesome rant by Chris Russo from the Mike and the Mad Dog show here!

Nice find. I heard this while driving home from work. It was a slow day at the Fan, and then someone who is related to the bouncer who was shot and paralyzed came on the air. After some calm reflection and sadness, Russo just went OFF. I texted my friend immediately - hadnt heard the Dog go that wild in a long time.
