Pacman Reinstated on a Limited Basis (1 Viewer)

From another story-

Since being traded to the Cowboys, Jones has tried to surround himself with a better support group. He's befriended former Cowboys Michael Irvin and Deion Sanders.

Yeah that'll work.

At this point, I have to wonder what the holdup is.

September 1st? Is Goodell still "studying" his situation?

Now, I don't think Pac Man 'deserves' a quick answer, or the Cowboys 'deserve' a quick resolution, but I would think that Goodell would want to get this off the headlines. Just make a decision already.

It just seems old Pacman can't catch a break, it's always one step forward and two back for this angel. Now that something positive happened the countdown for ole Pacman to be a victim of the bad people around him is on. Over/Under - 6 weeks, I'll take the under he gets arrested by then.

I don't see it as a holdup. He's able to participate in minicamps, training camp, the preseason just like any other player. If he hasn't screwed up in the next 3 months, I'm pretty sure he'll be reinstated. But what the league doesn't want is the embarrassment of giving a full "go" to the regular season now and having him do something dumb between now and then. Better to give only what they have to for now, then give the go ahead on the regular season when the time comes.

So Dallas has now added Pacman Jones and Michael Jenkins to go with Henry and Newman...they are goin got be pretty sick in the nickel and dime packages. They added Zach Thomas, drafted Felix Jones on offense...other than a possible hole at DT, where are the weaknesses here?

And do we talk about the return game...pick your poison as to who to kick the ball to. Do we go with Felix or Pacman??? Dallas Def/ST is flying under the radar right now...it should really be one of the 1st 2-3 off the board.

Big Cowboy fan here obviously.....but even I have to smile at this one. In all seriousness though, those two guys have screwed up close to as much as anyone. With that said, they've still been a success after the game and were able to weather the storms so with that said, I think the angle here is that two excellent football players who has seen it all and were once Cowboys are trying to help thing young guy out.

I certainly see your point though, can't say that I don't.

I think Pacman is going to turn his new leaf over for good. Honestly, with his new team, you have to believe even he may want to finally put football first in his life. He may be realizing he may not get another chance. If he gets caught up again, I will seriously be shocked.

Look up. Get up. Don't ever give up.

Btw to the poster that says we might have a hole at DT. I think Ratliff and Tank is a pretty good rotation. Ware thinks Tank is going to be huge this year.

:blackdot: man is the maker of his own misery...

however, in a Murphy's Law kind of way, the fact that Matt Millen was not interested in Jones, tells me all I need to know that PacMan will turn it around.

The starting line up is as solid as you'll find in the NFL. Maybe you can squable about the 5th skill position player with Deion Anderson at FB or a 2nd TE. Possibly put Felix in the slot. The defense has excellent passrushers and now excellent cover guys. Its going to be tough to pass on Dallas now. Solid, but possibly exploitable running defense. Where this team might run into problems is if either TO or Romo goes down. Crayton is good for the 3rd receiving option (behind TO and Witten). But he's not good enough to be the #1 receiver were TO to get hurt. In this case, teams would swarm Witten and leave everyone in single coverage. Crayton and others havent shown the ability to beat this on a regular basis. The offense becomes very average very quickly.Romo's backup is Brad Johnson. Ok for a game or two. But not for an extended period of time. I suppose the same could be said for the Colts or Pats were Manning or Brady to go down. But all the same, it appears their season goes down the tubes if Romo gets hurt. One other weakness is their coverage units. The punter is exceptional, but the guys doing the punt and kick coverage are not well coached. They routinely give up significant yardage in these two areas. This was a strength when Bruce DeHaven was the special teams coach. But last year, under first year pro coach Bruce Reed, they were poor. Hopefully his second year will be better.

 I cannot recall how many times last year that teams broke off big returns on both punts and kickoffs. If they could fix this it would allow the team to get momentum a lot earlier in games.

Goodell hasn't made his final decision, but Pacman has the power now. If he behaves himself for 3 months, how can Goodell not reinstate him? It's put up or shut up time.

They do look good don't they? They have a pretty tough schedule the first half of the year (see USOS) but they look good in the second half and not too shabby down the stretch.

Two years ago there were those placing similar opinions and subsequent odds on T.O. as well, and lost.Be careful.

He should be given a second chance but for God's sake don't make him the top story leading into opening week. SHEESH!

Let him in the back door after opening week. Maybe during Dallas' bye week. Opening week of the season should be about hopes of fans and it should be on good guys. Goodell should allow PacMan to train with the team and be in camp but don't allow him to take away glory from other guys who follow the rules and are model citizens. Their are plenty of good guys and opening week should be about them. Heck, a guy like Terrell Owens never punched a woman in the eye or slammed another's head into a bar or coerced a shooting that left a man paralyzed or openly flaunted that he can beat the NFL drug test or bet on college football games or was charged with felonly vandalism or felony assault on a police officer or.........

Honestly, does the NFL want opening week to be devoted to those sort of headlines?

Let PacMan train and attend camp. Give him a second chance but not on opening week. Leave opening week to the fans and to positive stories. Let PacMan back in once the good stories have played out and when the media isn't whipped into a frenzy. Bye week would be perfect, or any time after opening week.

Is that too much for the fans to ask? I mean we pay the salaries, we buy the products that sell advertising. We should get a product that we can feel good about, at least on opening weekend.

:goodposting: I think the only trouble he got in was for trespassing while fishing.

Irvin obviously had his trouble off the field, but he was a legendary leader on the field and in the locker room.

I'm curious. What part of Pacman's actions in the last couple of years makes you believe that he is done getting into trouble? I would be very suprised if he keeps his nose clean for the next couple of years. I will say that he's probably running low on money and this is a major motivating factor. We'll see what happens when his pockets are fully loaded with stripper cash. With him on the field the Cowboys will be the team to beat in the NFC this year.

The Cowboys were the team to beat before Adam Jones got to Dallas. I think this was a gamble JJ did not have to take.

The way everything is structured around his contract, there really is no gamble at all. Pacman agreed to terms knowing the parameters. And as the Cowboys advertised, they drafted as if Pacman wasn't going to be here. By the way, today in his first OTAs, he picked off Romo and took it to the house for about 80 yards. Not a bad way to start.

Confirmed. It was indeed Richard Bartel, 3rd stringer. My bad.The way it came across in the "signing of T.O." press conference yesterday, I was led to believe that it was Romo.T.O. said he wasn't at OTAs yesterday because he was in New York taking care of some business (?), but said Romo had text messaged him telling him he missed his speed in practice, and that Pacman looked good and mentioned the int. T.O. didn't mention the int. until Jerry Jones brought it up, then T.O. confirmed with a chuckle that Romo had mentioned that too. I just figured T.O. was holding back due to protecting shame on his QB, especially since he chuckled about it.In any case, apparently it was the highlight of the day.

As long as he stays out of trouble he will play all season, including week 1. This sort of conditional reinstatement is the letting him back slowly. There is no way they let him practice, become part of the team and, yes, get all the publicity without letting him start the season. I mean can you imagine Jerry J., "He has stayed out of trouble. Why did you let him practice if you weren't going to let him play? What you've changed your mind?"PS. Pacman with 2 INTs and 100 return yards to help the Cowboys beat the Browns on the road in week 1 is a positive story I can feel good about.

Dallas Def/ST is flying under the radar right now...it should really be one of the 1st 2-3 off the board.
:bag: And right now they are ranked #8 on the FBG's rankings. Dallas Def/ST is going to be a bargain this year.
They won't be a bargin, they will be one of the 1st 3 defenses off the board.
Seems easy to forget, but this guy was one of the top 5 CBs in the NFL by the end of 2006. IMO he was top 3. If this pans out for Dal, and I think it will, this could be absolutely huge for them. Not just fantasy wise, but it very well could propel them to the Super Bowl as well.

Adam Jones, 4 INTs in 30 NFL games but my point is that you will not get the Dallas D at a bargin. They are the #3 defense off the board right now so if Jones is reinstated that will only go up. So were is the bargin?

Based on data from 981 drafts between May 23, 2008 and June 2, 2008 at Fantasy Football Calculator, Dallas is the #10 DEF/ST off the board. I don't think they go 3rd overall being in the toughest division in the league.http://fantasyfootballcalculator.com/adp.p...=12&pos=def

I could care less how many Ints he had. Towards the end of 06 this guy was turning into one of the best. His coverage skills were top notch and he was drawing teams WR1. He came up in run support and was a sure tackler.

If you can get them at #10 you will get a true bargin.

I could care less how many Ints he had. Towards the end of 06 this guy was turning into one of the best. His coverage skills were top notch and he was drawing teams WR1. He came up in run support and was a sure tackler.
Yup! That makes him top 3.

Oh I am still very in. Just laughing at you trying to get two for 1. (I'm also guessing this is an alias account..oh well whatever) That is all.
I'll need confirmation from MOP too, if I don't get confirmation in the next 24 hours, this deal is off.
