well, you convinced me. qbs are just not that important to winning and i think it would serve teams much better to draft a hall of fame type center. bc those guys are easy to identify and are available every year.
your facetious statements are funny, especially when you go and twist my words around. I never said qbs are not important to winning. I said their role in team success is greatly exaggerated by media and perception. the same reason media frowns upon 'game managing' qb's and loves erratic, terrible decision-maker gunslingers.it's absurd that for the last 13 years a QB has been drafted first 10 years out of 13. and for the most part, there were far better deserving players that shouldve been drafted in that spot. can you imagine the same thing with a center in basketball ? a center in hockey ? a pitcher in baseball ? and football is the most team-based game out of all of them.

wdubb is the BGP of the Shark Pool.
given the fact that bgp was banned, I'll assume that's not a good thing ?so why is it ? because I challenge a thought apparently so inherently true that no one even bothers to use any numbers to counter my arguments?notice how I used a lot of facts to back up my claims. all people did back is to call me a bunch of funny names. I'm willing to bet not many of these same people browse footballoutsiders and profootballfocus much :)that's OK though. I'm just surprised not even one person is remotely agreeing with me. on other sites, knowledgeable football people (not saying the people here aren't that tho) are far less disagreeing.

It's because you've taken your stance to a dramatic level. I agree that QB's in general are a bit over-rated, and that it's ridiculous that almost every #1 pick is a QB. But they're still the most important players on the field, and an average QB is worth more than a pro-bowl player (not necessarily all-pro) at any other position.Combine that fact with you valuing draft picks a lot more than most, and your intial statements/premise sounds very much extreme. IE: Nobody is agreeing with you because you're at the margins in 2 philosophies, not just the one.

lol, so Im guessing you're another one who believes QB is the most important position on the team...
Count me in. Bring it. Your analysis is....shall we say, odd. There are 2 ways to win a Super Bowl Championship. Franchise QB or Stellar D. There are way more championships won with the franchise QB, than the stellar D. I count 2 stellar D's since 1992. The rest are led by franchise QBs. IMO that make the QB the most valuable player on the team since without it, you are just selling tickets.

I didn't read 4 pages worth of Palmer bashing but I watched the game and most of it really wasn't his fault. I saw A LOT of dropped 3rd down conversions, and overall passes. He hit a couple of guys right on the numbers that would have kept chains moving with the possibility to put points on the board. I think he's unfairly being judged here. I mean, it's still no question that the Raiders got abused on the trade.

I'm not sure what you saw that I didn't. Sure, there were some drops but Palmer looked awful yesterday. He threw the ball into double coverage at least 5 times, had happy feet in the pocket, didn't go through his reads and lacked any zip on the ball. All 4 of his INTs were directly his fault from what I saw and he could have been picked on at least to other occasions as Oak WRs weren't the only ones who dropped catchable passes of his...

IMO the line is the most important position on the field...starting with center. If you cant protect your QB its goint to be tought to win. If you cant block to run its going to be tough to win.

While I won't try to defend Palmer as an elite QB this season because he wasn't. But I know you are aware that he came into a ridiculous situation with having not played football in over a year. I think you are also aware that it really wasn't his fault that the Oakland defense 29th in yardage (although I will concede his TOs helped them finish 29th in points allowed). He also really had nothing to do with the Raiders being the most penalized team in the history of the NFL. So while he wasn't good, and your hatred for him won't let you see anything positive about Palmer, I am not certain that many QBs would have done better in the same circumstances. And somewhere outside of your Palmer hatred shtick you know that too.
