Pat' off season and next year (1 Viewer)

* Rodney Harrison on Sports Illustrated picking the Dolphins to win the AFC East: "You can't allow yourself to get motivated by that [stuff]. You have to go out there and be self-motivated day in and day out. That's what seperates the great teams from the good teams. The teams that win Super Bowls are self-motivated. They don't need a bunch of trash talk or bulletin-board stuff to get them going." :banned:

Here is to a Great Patriot Season!

I heard that during the game tonight. I guess Mangini overstepped his bounds somehow huh?

The end of the Branch Era...

Deion Branch met with the media in Kirkland, Wash., and opened with the following statement:

“First and foremost, thank you all. I’d like to thank you all for giving me the opportunity to be here and be a part of this team. I’d also like to thank Mr. (Robert) Kraft, Coach (Bill) Belichick and Scott Pioli and the organization of the New England Patriots for drafting me and giving me the opportunity to be the player that I have excelled to be. Hopefully I can continue to be that player here with the Seattle Seahawks and deliver as such that I did with the New England Patriots and I will be ready and prepared to do that when my time comes. I would also like to thank the fans back in New England and also thank my teammates who have been a great big support of this whole process that I have been a part of. I’m going to miss those guys, but I think right now this is the most important thing now. I am a Seattle Seahawk and I’m proud. I’m ready to get going.”

Got a good laugh out of this, thought you guys might too...

Dale & Holley were interviewing Rodney Harrison on the radio. They brought up trash talking in the NFL, and of course from there, they brought up Freddie Mitchell. Then this exchange (paraphrased):

D&H: Is Mitchell even in the league anymore? I think he's delivering packages for FedEx now.

Harrison: There's nothing wrong with delivering packages for FedEx. Unfortunately, the problem for him is he probably drops all the packages.

:lmao:

The Patriots have extended center Dan Koppen's contract. Koppen was set to become a free agent after this season. ESPN is reporting a five year deal worth $19-$20 million.

The Patriots now have their top seven linemen signed through 2008. This includes starting linemen LT Matt Light (2010), LG Logan Mankins (2009), C Koppen, RG Stephen Neal (2009), and RT Ryan O'Callaghan (2009). It also includes T Nick Kaczur (2009) and G/C Russ Hochstein (2008).

This is a good, young line that should only get better with time as these players gain experience and familiarity with each other, with Tom Brady, and with the Patriots system in general.

While the Patriots have taken some heat for letting players like David Givens, Willie McGinest, and Adam Vinatieri walk, they are to be commended, in my opinion, for the recent extensions given to players like Koppen, Light, Richard Seymour, Jarvis Green, and Mike Vrabel.

With the line, Brady, Maroney, Ben Watson, and Chad Jackson all signed (relatively) longterm at this point, the Patriots should have a very strong offense for years to come. And with Belichick, Seymour, Vince Wilfork, Ty Warren, and Green also signed longterm, the defense also looks to have a bright future, although the linebacking corps and the secondary could obviously use some young blood in the coming years.

What is the world coming to when the Pats would rather sign Jabar Gaffney over Charles Rogers (for likely the same amount of money).
im quiiite alright with them signing gaffney over rogers.
