Innocent my butt. They played with deflated balls, period and the Colts did not. Someone deflated the balls and that someone was 99% probability a member of the Patriots.
This will be the lasting mantra for the masses of idiots across the country. I don't think it's possible going forward to have any type of intelligent dialogue with these types of which there are thousands. WTF even take these people seriously? There are plenty of people who raise good points but sadly this is the norm. Just goes to prove my belief that a good majority of people are idiots who can't provide one independent, intelligent thought.
What do you do for a living? As far as having intelligent thought, I'll put my occupation and intelligence up against yours any day. Just because I believe someone from the Patriots deflated the balls they used and the Colts didn't have deflated balls, is no reason to get personal.
:lmao: We going to compare penis size next???
Some of you guys are taking this to a new level. Perhaps the best thing would be for everyone to wait on a ruling and leave it at that.
you are one of the few in here dealing in absolutes.
In my eyes it looks like they are guilty and I won't belabor the point over and over any longer. At this point I believe we're at a wait and see from the NFL. I won't argue what Belichick said in his last press conference, because I'm not even sure he believes it. He may be right for all I know, but I have a feeling the NFL will shine some sense to this whole matter. Like I said, if the NFL says they are innocent, then I will say they are most likely innocent and drop it. I get no pleasure talking about this kind of stuff.

Has the NFL ruled yet? Do you think we've heard the last from the NFL on the subject? What exactly have I not been paying attention to? Yes, I've heard the air pressure / temperature scenarios, but I haven't heard a ruling from the NFL.

I meant I see no reason why the fans of any team would expect anything competent to come out of that office at all.

Nah, you've made up your mind already that the Pats are cheaters. You just said as much. So if it turns personal at this point it's because you've boxed yourself into a corner where a rational discussion is fruitless.
Yes, I hate the Pats and their fans, but no, I haven't made up my mind they are cheaters 100%, but I will believe they cheated unless the NFL says they did not. I'm not going to throw up additional conspiracy theories if the NFL says they are innocent. It's a dropped subject to me at that point.
Just admit it Johnny boy, you're jealous as #### over allllllll the success the Pats have had over the past 15 years :) Salty haters gonna hate, right?? It's over and done with. I hope you enjoy watching the Patriots in the Super Bowl once again next Sunday!

I don't really care what happens. It doesn't affect me one bit, nor the team I root for. I said my opinion that it looks like the Pats are guilty to me and some of you are blasting away at me personally for having an opinion. You Pats fans seem to care a lot more about this than I ever would.
When you're inconsistant like this, you're asking to be a target.

For being cited as one of the best coaches ever, I find it alarming that after 3 days he has no idea how the balls lost 16% of their air pressure in 90 minutes despite being controlled by his staff. I always thought of him as being very detailed oriented. It sure seems like a head coach would be able to trace back all the people that would touch the balls AFTER Brady ok'd them.

To me the press conferences were about what I would expect if the franchise has been doing this for a long time. No one in the equipment is going to tinker with game balls outside of Brady's knowledge. Madden, former QBs are all saying this. Even Belichick said this. The balls are set up the way Brady likes them (which appears to be lower than the 12.5 psi mandated low despite him saying he likes them right at the edge of allowed). The statement by Brady that he touches them all and knows how he likes them pregame, but can't tell the difference of the 2-3 psi later in a game situation seems very disingenuous.

Belichick's press conference was to pass the buck to Brady. Brady's presser was just to buy time so he gets to play in the Super Bowl. I have no dog in this race, but it was hard watching Brady say things that look to be outright lies. I do think the legacies of both Belichick and Brady took a big hit this week in everyone but the biggest Patriot fan's eyes.
What I find alarming is how so many people are so eager to publicly (radio, tv, internet) destroy Tom Brady's reputation and they don't realize they may actually be destroying their own. For a guy who claims not to have a dog in the fight your posts seem to indicate otherwise. From your 2nd post on you appear 100% certain that the Patriots cheated and it seems rather obvious nothing they say or do will ever convince you otherwise.

You claim that Brady is lying when he stated he "can't tell the difference of the 2-3 psi later in a game situation" I hadn't heard anyone say the balls were 3 pounds per square inch under and I never heard Brady make the claim you are attributing to him. I could be wrong and admittedly I could have missed it (if so I apologize in advance), but your 3 psi statement seems like you are intentionally exaggerating and making things up in order to make him and the situation look worse than it is. Why would you do that if you have no dog in the fight? Other than your love of manning, why do you seem so determined to bury the guy?

If found guilty I'll be happy about that, but when compared to other things going on in my life, I don't really care what happens in this case. In other words, if the NFL says they are innocent I won't lose any sleep over it. There really isn't much more to say in this thread until the NFL rules on it.

Goodbye, we'll see ya when the NFL makes a ruling.

45 - 7

This has turned into one giant circle jerk of Pats fans giving each other high fives, but not much changed other than Belicheck offering the public a theory on what might have caused things so that they can focus on the Super Bowl. It was a perfect press conference, very strategic and tactical. Give the public enough to come across knowledgeable and create enough "reasonable doubt" that public opinion is swayed ... until the NFL makes a real statement. And then the tide might turn back again.

Information was reported by multiple sources early in the process that's no less reliable that whatever is reported now. Pats fans didn't believe any of the early stuff because it painted a bleak picture, but new stuff is more reliable. Why? Because it comes from a coach who's already paid the steepest price in the history of sports for cheating already? Or because it supports what you want to believe?

There's no doubt that I believe there's more to this than weather conditions. I'm going to wait to reserve the rest of my own opinion until I find out what the NFL found initially that prompted them to start a full-blown investigation in the first place. Because something tells me that don't do that if the solution can be explained by relatively simple physics (well, simple to people who know physics apparently). Maybe they'll take the opportunity to sweep it under the rug to not tarnish the playoffs, who knows. But my god, that press conference yesterday wasn't anything earth shattering and every news channel I saw reporting on it today said nothing is going to be resolved and this will be a story until the NFL reveals what it finds out.
Boy, nice way to construct a bullet-proof strawman. Despite a wave of new reports and scientific evidence coming in the past two days, plus an emphatic denial of any tampering from a guy who is putting is career and legacy on the line, you now conveniently say that the media reports may be inaccurate. And that even if the Patriots are exonerated, it is because the NFL wants to sweep it under the carpet.Did you ever take Psych 101 in college? I'm sure there has to be a clinical name for such a mental construct.
No idea what that means. The reports the last 2 days are no more reliable than the reports from the week before. Whose "sources" are more reliable? There's scientific evidence on both sides, and we still don't know how the Patriots rub the footballs to increase the PSI by at least a pound. If it doesn't involve a dryer or tumbler like Bill said, that must be one helluva process. And what's Belicheck supposed to say? Of course he issues a denial... if it's legit, he's cleared. If it's not, he's screwed anyways. He denied doing anything wrong with SpyGate before being smacked with a monster fine and penalty.

My point isn't that they're innocent OR guilty. But just because a coupe days of stories you like come out doesn't mean the previous stories weren't the factually correct ones.
Disagree. Belichick could easily have remained silent and just said we're cooperating, ongoing investigation etc. This was him doubling down. If he lied he's going to look foolish on a Raphael Palmero level, just an absolute joke.
Disagree with that. I think the press conference was the result of the beat-down the Pats were taking in the media, which would've only gotten worse when the players make it to Arizona tomorrow (or is it today?). He was proactive about it when the NFL wasn't, which was the right move to make. Go on the offensive and put the onus on the NFL, and force them to dig even deeper if that's even possible. What he said isn't as important as when he said it - it clearly bought them some more positive news leading up to the Super Bowl and got their fan base ALL sorts of fired up. However it turns out, we're going to hear something from the NFL on it. If it's an apology, the NFL is going to have some serious consequences.

Personally, I expect them to say that the Patriots' practice of preparing the footballs resulted in the PSI dropping below the legal limits, and while it wasn't illegal, it was against the spirit of the rule. Won't matter that many or all teams do something similar - they're the ones who were investigated for it. Maybe a small fine, maybe nothing at all, and almost surely a change to the way the teams prepare footballs.
I think I generally agree with this. Fwiw, I think BB got out in front of this because he regretted not doing the same when the story about taping the rams walk through came about during the 2007 SB week. In other words, he trusted the league and the media to do their jobs then and having seen the error of his ways was certainly not gonna rely on either again.

maybe Seahwaks will get lucky and the Patriots will suck 2 pounds out of the balls in the Super Bowl - after all, Tom Brady and the Patriots only scored 17 with deflated ball ... they scored 28 with properly inflated ones

yes - those savvy, intelligent Patriots handicapped themselves the first half of the conference finals - that makes all the sense in the world doesn't it ?>

Damn I'm slackin........

1. Arrogance

2. General doosh-baggery

3. arrogance and insubordination
Have no problem admitting this colors who gets the benefit of the doubt and who doesn't for me.
Glad we could find some common ground :) . And fwiw, I am certainly comfortable admitting that if BB weren't the head d-bag of my team I'd probably be a hater too. So really I get why the rest of the country roots against us, really I do. And I wish BB had a different personality and wasn't such tool some times. But if that's what it takes for us to have such a great coach it is a trade-off I can live with....so long as he doesn't cross that line that he says he stays far away since spy gate.
he's a ##### to the media who are mostly idiots. He's alway complimentary to other teams..so the media is basically influencing how the fans perceive him..just like they do in every other facet of our lives. There are many more whiny, excuse ridden, ##### bags coaches out there that if I were a fan of their teams, would be embarrassed. This would not be a story unless the media ran with it and the leak. It surprises me how gullable the aversge person can be.

:lmao:
How many times have you used the words "jealous", "salty", and "haters"?
As many times as I've needed to describe half of the posters on here. You just happen to be one of the biggest, jealous, salty haters of them all. :)

Fair enough. Can't argue with you on most of that. But your precursor that if the Pats are exonerated it's because the NFL is sweeping it under the carpet is pretty bush league and comes off as trolling. There's no denying that NFL has a hard-on trying to bring the Pats down here. That much is certain.
Meh. The NFL, primarily, wants whats best for business for the NFL.....and I don't think a weeklong plus fugazi invesgtigation into the size of the balls in the NFL is good for the league......particularly after the beating the league has taken this year in the PR department.

Not surprising that the majority of the ESPN crew now even more thinks the Pats physically deflated the balls. Chris Carter mentioned the Pro Bowl players fuming over the Patriots illegal ways. BB and his science lesson does mot seem to have made a dent in the anti-Patriots camp.

1.) I'm so, so glad I don't watch TV.

2.) We have GOT to win this freaking game.

Well BB won't have to come up with any motivational ploys. ....this situation should have them fired up.

It's somewhat understandable. The BB presser was done during the most off peak hour of the entire week, and lots of key information came out this afternoon that dramatically changes the story. The Florio story that the Pats balls were only off 1 psi and not 2+ psi, as Mort reported last Monday, was confirmed by Vegas Sharks about 30 minutes ago. These guys have been 3 for 3 on this story so far.

fired up?

Giant freakin distraction IMO

I was all about to lay a nice chunk on the Pats

Now Im thinking I just do a token

The Seahawks are no joke and not afraid of them at all.

I think at some point in the past, Brady was probably trying out balls with different pressures and then it got to one he liked. And so he told his equipment guy - "right there - that's how I want them". I think he probably did this without having any clue what psi it was at, just that he liked the feel. Maybe he didn't even know a specific range was spelled out in the rules.

So I actually believe Brady and Belichik for the most part. What I don't believe is that the psi was not intentionally taken down to the levels Brady liked. I believe the Pats probably have used balls at a lower psi for years. Not moaning and groaning over it, but that's where I'm at.

At one pound out you are very much in the margin of error for the gauge. Screw everything else. To be sure (or close to it) in that range you'd have to do multiple tests with multiple gauges.

The stupid keeps getting stupider.

question: does the nfl have the balls to back out of this on monday?

yes, apparently 7+ years now...

was there a link in here to the Florio story and the confirmation you speak of?

Did I hear on radio that in BB experiment to see if they could tell the difference in PSI it was Brady and Garrapolo? Really? Of course these 2 are going to say they can't tell the difference.

Regardless this shouldn't be as big a deal.

Luck, Flacco, or Manning? They didn't have much to do last week.
