However, they may truly believe they are innocent. Tom Brady is certainly still taking that line. The evidence of deflated balls has basically lost a ton of credibility since the wells report, and certainly since the AEI report. So there is really nothing other than a text or two to suggest any wrong doing at all. So, if the pats are truly innocent, or if Brady has misled his team into thinking no rule was broken, then acting the way they did and demanding apologies and the context website, etc. is perfectly the correct approach. Admitting guilt when your innocent just to avoid a heavy punishment is an absurd response.

For the same reason that you would shout innocence from the rooftops and fight to the last man if you were convicted of a crime that you either A. Were innocent of...or B. These things don't quite fit with the "everything they've done suggests that they are innocent" theory:

1-Promised to fully cooperate with the NFL but refuse to allow Wells to re-interview the aforementioned "deflator" because it was "inconvenient" for him (even though Wells offered to go to him for the interview. (This is "shouting innocence from the rooftops?")

2-Brady refusing to provide copies of his electronic communication messages with the 2 Pats employees (not the phone itself, but copies that HE and his agent would provide. (again, this is "shouting innocence from the rooftops?")

3-Kraft deciding to accept the NFL's punishment, one of the stiffest in NFL history. (This if "fighting to the last man?")

Not everything they've done suggests innocence; in fact when you look at everything as a whole, the more likely conclusion is that they are trying to hide something. IMO, they're trying to hide a very minor rules violation. In that attempt to cover up this minor rules violation, they made the situation much bigger than it needed to be.

I think he still gets suspended, but it will probably be reduced to two games. I am assuming they will say Brady came in and did a good job of speaking about the issues at hand and cooperating and answering some questions we wanted answered.

My guess is Brady is guilty but a defence team could make enough of a case in the court of law that there would be the potential of him getting off due to the messed up way things are dealt with in courts.

There were reports (sorry no links) that when Wells first met with the pats, they were expecting Wells to help them uncover who has been trying to railroad them. Baltimore? Indy? Then they realized Wells wasn't there to exonerate the pats, he was there to find a smoking gun. Hence leading to the pats being less than fully cooperative, since it likely appeared to them that Wells was gonna get them regardless. Which actually has some credibility behind it if the AEI report is to be believed.
