Patriots twitter auto-replies with racial slur (1 Viewer)

#BostonClassy

There are some terrible people in the world, and at least one retweeted that message. So one of the tweets that went out from the Patriots account was to a person who uses "IHATE" and a racial slur at the end of that, and that handle with the racial slur on a digital jersey.

Yes... because a automated social media dashboard (which most large brands use) getting caught up in something like this is an indicator of class

I hate the Patsies but don't care one iota about how one knuckle dragger gamed an auto response .Yawn @ the manufactured controversy

and as to bostonclassy do you have a problem with the sentiment of bostonstrong which you seem to be playing off in a negative manner?

You're confusing an opportunity to laugh at something stupid that the Patriots did with controversy.

No, none at all.

What exactly did the patriots "do" that was stupid here?

Are you familiar with how social media dashboards work?

What they did that was stupid was set this one up without anticipating something like this. It shows an impressive level of ignorance of what goes on with social media. Same thing happened when the Redskins did their ill-fated #Redskinspride campaign that turned out like this. If you open yourself up to being the butt of jokes, Twitter will make it happen.

Honestly though - this is much ado about nothing. There really is no downside here for the Patriots organization. I would not call what they did "stupid" because that implies they may be hurt negatively by this - which they won't be. It will be a net-positive experience for the club and most of the fans.
