Their own.Isn't NE losing it's first rounder? Which one will it be?
They lost their own pick, not the one from SF.Isn't NE losing it's first rounder? Which one will it be?
2 games with 7 to play. Unsurmountable?SF has a hefty lead against the Dolphins and Rams. I would guess an unsurmountable lead at this point.
It would be like the Lakers drafting Magic Johnson back in the day. Im pulling the stickers off the truck if that happens. That would be awesome if San Francisco ends up with the worse record this year and New England goes undefeated and wins it all.![]()

Theirs, so probably 31 or 32.Isn't NE losing it's first rounder? Which one will it be?
Goodell has no cojones.
sorry, he close that door a while ago. officially.Goodell has no cojones. He left open the possibility of further penalties. Let's hope he grows some and sticks to that statement (he won't).
Have you watched any of the games? SF might be terrible, but Miami is outright god-awful and the same with the Rams. They need to get lucky to win one game this season.2 games with 7 to play. Unsurmountable?SF has a hefty lead against the Dolphins and Rams. I would guess an unsurmountable lead at this point.![]()
Len Bias?I remember when the Celtics won the NBA Championship and got the #1 overall pick. Guess who they dafted?
Technically it should be insurmountable. But given that they have yet to win any games, catching up two games may be asking a lot. And the Jets are also in the mix (sorry Chase).Rams still face NO, SEA, GB, and PIT. MIA still has PIT, NE, BUF, and BAL. I suppose it's not impossible, but I would be surprised to see them get the #1 pick.2 games with 7 to play. Unsurmountable?SF has a hefty lead against the Dolphins and Rams. I would guess an unsurmountable lead at this point.![]()
I would say so, i doubt either of those teams wins a game, much less both of them winning 3 each.2 games with 7 to play. Unsurmountable?SF has a hefty lead against the Dolphins and Rams. I would guess an unsurmountable lead at this point.![]()

New England gave them theirs last year since they didn't need it really.Does anyone know what the trade was? how did new england get SF's 1st round pick in 08?

The Pats traded the 110th pick to OAK in exchange for Randy Moss.49ers trade up with PatriotsSan Francisco 49ers: Acquire pick No. 28 (selected OT Joe Staley).New England Patriots: Acquire pick No. 110 and a first-round pick in 2008.Scouts take: The 49ers aggressively moved up in the backend of the first round to acquire LT Joe Staley. By selecting Staley the 49ers can move LT Jonas Jennings to the right side and drastically improve their offensive line. The 49ers have been shopping both RG Justin Smiley and the underachieving RT Kwame Harris throughout the offseason. Staley was a former TE who was converted to RT in 2004. He is a very good athlete with outstanding feet, balance and control but needs to improve his total body strength. The Patriots got great value acquiring the 49ers' first-round pick in 2008 and a fourth this season. The Patriots like to acquire future No. 1 picks.
On the flip side, the Pats would probably be more likely to trade the pick at "below value" on the chart. They might be happy with a mid - late first and a second or something like that.I think the Pats would hate to get the first pick. Too much money involved for a guy who might not be needed.
I think it was the 28th overall and they traded SF that pick, and I believe they got SF's #1 next year, and their 4th rounder this past draft. SF took their current RT, Joe Staley from Central Michigan.Does anyone know what the trade was? how did new england get SF's 1st round pick in 08?

Bias went 2nd - Brad Daugherty was 1st that year, should have been taken by the 76ers, but instead they thought it was a better idea to trade the #1 pick and Moses Malone for a journeyman power forward and a center with bad knees. Worst day in Sixer history, thanks for reminding me about it.OK, enough hoops, back toYepLen Bias?I remember when the Celtics won the NBA Championship and got the #1 overall pick. I doubt they would do anything that would relinquish value.Fallerjw said:On the flip side, the Pats would probably be more likely to trade the pick at "below value" on the chart. I think they'd be more likely to take more late first / second round picks vs. paying one unproven player a huge salary. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like they aren't a team looking to pay top 5 money to a rookie.I doubt they would do anything that would relinquish value.Fallerjw said:On the flip side, the Pats would probably be more likely to trade the pick at "below value" on the chart. Once again . . . they will lose THEIR OWN pick not the one they acquired from SF.if they lose a first rounder, which one would it be?
I dont know if they can. Dont they need to resign Moss next season too?I think they'd be more likely to take more late first / second round picks vs. paying one unproven player a huge salary. So the Pats essentially turned the 28th pick in the 07 draft into Moss and what is looking like a top 5-10 pick in 2008. Amazing.David Yudkin said:odon said:Does anyone know what the trade was? how did new england get SF's 1st round pick in 08?The Pats traded the 110th pick to OAK in exchange for Randy Moss.49ers trade up with PatriotsSan Francisco 49ers: Acquire pick No. 28 (selected OT Joe Staley).New England Patriots: Acquire pick No. 110 and a first-round pick in 2008.Scouts take: The 49ers aggressively moved up in the backend of the first round to acquire LT Joe Staley. Count me in for the "patriots would trade down" club. They like to pay less money for draft picks in the 20-50 area and drat players that can play like a top 20 player.Fallerjw said:On the flip side, the Pats would probably be more likely to trade the pick at "below value" on the chart. That's how it worked out.So the Pats essentially turned the 28th pick in the 07 draft into Moss and what is looking like a top 5-10 pick in 2008. Amazing.
YEP. BRILLIANT! Plus I see them dealing that early pick next year to some other team for a disgruntled player....say....Chad Johnson. That's how it worked out.So the Pats essentially turned the 28th pick in the 07 draft into Moss and what is looking like a top 5-10 pick in 2008. Amazing.
No "ifs" about it. They are losing their own first round pick.if they lose a first rounder, which one would it be?
I agree that will probably be the case yet the one time they had a top 10 pick in the BB/Pioli era they used it to select Richard Seymour. The other time they were close to the top 10 was when they selected Ty Warren with the #13 pick (they actually traded up a slot to get him). The one thing I've learned with the Pats is to never pigeonhole what they will do because they always find a way to surprise. Knowing them they'll probably keep the pick and finally select a young LB.In the end I would be real surprised if they shelled out the money it would cost to sign a top 5 selection. Unless they see an absolute can't miss stud I'd bet they would turn this pick into a nice haul of picks over a two year period or have a veteran or two thrown in as well.***The Pats also have the Raiders #3 pick as well.Count me in for the "patriots would trade down" club. They like to pay less money for draft picks in the 20-50 area and drat players that can play like a top 20 player.Fallerjw said:On the flip side, the Pats would probably be more likely to trade the pick at "below value" on the chart. The day the NBA Eastern Conference power structure changed. The 76ers castrate themselves & the Celts best shot at an injection of youth goes south.Ted Lange as your Bartender said:Bias went 2nd - Brad Daugherty was 1st that year, should have been taken by the 76ers, but instead they thought it was a better idea to trade the #1 pick and Moses Malone for a journeyman power forward and a center with bad knees. No, nobody gets it. There will only be 31 first-round picks next year.EDIT: San Francisco gets Indianapolis' 1st-round pick next year (Tony Ugoh trade). So SF gets the pick the Patriots lose?
