Pats agree to terms with OLB Adalius Thomas (1 Viewer)

Adam Schefter was on WEEI this morning and he said Thomas to the Patriots was a done deal, and that there'll be another big signing coming too. He said that everyone expects BB/Pioli to follow status quo and sign just the "value" guys, but he said NO, the Pats are making a splash this year.I can't wait! :excited:     :pickle: :suds: :hifive:
There are rumors floating around about the Pats persuing Lance Briggs too.
sweet jesus, I cant even imagine that
They have an extra first rounder this year...
If they sign Briggs as well, that would be sick. That front 7 is scary now, but add those two, and holy. I just can't see it. The other may be a WR. I just can't see another big signing at LB. I'd be stunned. Maybe the other announcement is a long term deal with Asante?
If they sign Briggs as well that would be the dumbest move the PAts could make. A bad fit for the 3-4, and you are going to tie up all that $$$ at 1 position? SP isn't stupid, and I think the Briggs signing is just Pats fans wishful thinking.

As a Dolphins fan I couldnt be happier about this signing. Thomas will turn 30 before the season starts. Pats overpaid, plain and simple.

:headbang:
:wall: best wishes to AD, who we'll miss tremendously

and @30, Thomas still has the tools to have lined up in all 11 defensive positions--too old...are you kidding me???

while he might not play out all 5 yrs, @$37.5M he is a freakin' bargin in todays NFL

Is Thomas official yet? I havent seen anything.
from above:
The Boston Herald reports that the Patriots have agreed to terms with DE/LB Adalius Thomas.

The Patriots last made a big free agent splash with Rosevelt Colvin, another edge rusher. The Pats may be the one team who can utilize Thomas' various skills even more creatively than Baltimore. The 29-year-old will give the Patriots more options with their multiple formations. Mike Vrabel could play inside more often.

I saw that. The Herald is kind of a rag. I wouldnt consider that official yet. I was wondering if anyone had seen anything more official.
I really disagree with this. If anything it's the Globe that's a rag. It's a politically driven paper that has had far more instances of plagariasm and/or false reporting over the years. The Herald is definetly more sensational but they run circles around the Globe with local news coverage as the Globe is basically the New York Times Boston edition. As far as this signing goes...I think I just solied myself.
The quote above about the Globe was spot on...Just announced that the Globe has suspended that piece of crap Ron Borges for plagarism....

I f'ing hate the Globe and Borges......glad I won't have to read his Patriot bashing for at least 2 months.

Agreed. Between guys like Borges covering the Pats and Peter May "covering" the Celtics, I stopped reading the Globe a while ago. The Herald isn't great, but you can get actual information from it.
