short answer, yes. this was a topic a few weeks ago for a sunday night game that was a typical blowout and everyone in the game thread was crying about how boring it was. i said it then and i will say it again, people are intriqued with this story, whether you hate the pats or love them.

I find it hard to believe that even the football fans that hate the pats the most deny this as fact.

Hmmm, will people turn on to watch the 14-0 Pats play the 0-14 Dolphins, whose record they're about to beat? The only team talked about more than the Pats this year is the 72 Dolphins, and the Dolphins are the team that knocked the 85 Bears off the undefeated tip. There are so many crossover threads between the Pats undefeated and Phins defeated seasons it's pretty much a no brainer that there's extra interest in this matchup. Will it be competitive? Highly doubtful. But there is definitely more interest in that game than normal.

I can understand the implications of the game...I was just surprised that they would change the time of it. It is not like it is the Flex game.

I think this is a good move for the people out there that look forward to a chance to bask in Greatness.

more pacific viewers can watch the 4 clock games? i think....

This trend is tiresome. That's three times recently; Eagles to 8; Steelers to 4:15; Dolphins to 4:15. Much less comfortable at these times.

Plus I can't imagine this is the most "appealing" game.

NFL is going to get more control over its games in the coming years. Right now the NFL Network might only have certain weeks with games but in 2 years I see them having a one game each week on their network on Thurs.Bill Cowher ripped the NFL for changing the schedule of teams to Thurs games last week on NBC. He said it was the reasons for injuries due to shorter rest weeks and that the league should have game maybe on Sat. I dont see Sat happening since that would go against the college games.

Well, this means I don't have to show up for the tailgate at 09:00. Now I can sleep in, watch some games in the lot, leave once it's 42-3 in the third and still get home in time for the late game.

This season has definitely been tough on the Patriot ticket holder - I miss my 1pm games.

Unless they plan on inviting Mercury Morris to the booth, the game will be far from interesting. What's the point of switching the game start time if they end up switching to another game by the 4th quarter?

Great story - yesGreat TV - HELL NO

A 77-3 game is not great TV for me.

AFC games on 23 Dec, none really all that "appealing" IMHO:Clev at CincHous at IndyMia at NEOak at JaxNYJ at Tenn(don't know how the inter-conference games fall that day for the networks, but none of them are really any better, except maybe the Giants at Buffalo)...

CLE and Jax could be looking to clinch a playoff berth. CLE-CIN has the rivalry thing going.GB the ticket.

great TV-absolutely It's two records on the line that are often considered impossible to break. For football fans, it's not going to be a good game. But for the national TV interest it's got too many sub plots and national attention to not be what network execs consider great TV.

boring game, wouldn't watch no matter what time it was on unless it was the ONLY football game on.

So more people can watch the greatest upset of the century.

Dolphins 27

Patriots 24

:link:

I wonder if the spead will be over 30?

Now you're talking like ESPN.

Duh, I'm talking like a TV exec because those are the ones making the decision to move the game. This isn't going to be a huge matchup like the Gb/Dal game but it has the potential to draw in more viewers than many of the more "important" games that are more important to team markets. This has the most national interest so they put it ina more conspicuous time slot.

Simple answer as to why? Ratings

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/columnist/h...nterstitialskip

New England has powered CBS' NFL ratings so far to a 5% jump over last season — even before Sunday's Steelers-Pats game — while NFL ratings on Fox, NBC and ESPN are down. With CBS' NFL ratings virtually tied with NBC's and Fox's, its AFC package might end up topping the two other broadcast network NFL packages in the same season for the first time.

actually it probably is, NE is the team to watch this year especially with what brady/moss are doing, people like to watch good teams/players, not to hard to figure out.

So basically what you are saying is they cater to the lowest common denominator. Makes sense from a network/profit stand point. Unfortunately it's bad for true fans. The NFL, the new WWE of TV.

i will assume you won't watching the Superbowl either because that game will be a blow out too.

History being made is generally fun to watch because of the competitive spirit involved. This isn't going to be much of a competition so I have no interest. I don't need to watch the finalization of a record simply because it's an historic moment. These particular records have been in the making for the entire season and I have followed and enjoyed the season. I'm not going to get anything out of the slaughter at the end.
