So WHich TE is the one to own for WAS. I had Fred Davis in my 32 team DYN league and now I have to drop him or put on IR.

So in a 32 team DYnasty league. Not many TE's to choose from. So if you have to pick a TE for WAS. Which is the one to own???

Cooley, Logan Paulsen, or Niles Paul.

i think they culd all have value, just depends on the gameplan each wk.paulsen is the best blocker, so he'll be on the field a lot.however, niles is supposed to be a wr turned te, so he can catch. or so i thought.nobody wants to play that game.with all that said, id watch whether cooley practices a lot.if so, my money is on cooley.he knows the system.he just hasn't been healthy, preseason included.maybe the 2months or so has done a body good.if he practices, i think he's the guy to take a flyer on for a TE hungry owner.my 1cent.

The real questions are..

How much does WAS actually pass the ball?

What kind of season was Fred Davis having in the first place?

Regardless of who "emerges" how much value with said player hold?

Without looking (I will), I'm assuming WAS is near bottom in pass attempts and Davis wasn't on his way to having a stellar season regardless.

If I'm desperate, I'm looking to luck out and possibly grab Keller if he's available or go with a higher upside option like Housler.

Yeah in a 32 team Dynasty league Keller isn't available.

Sorry, sorry that's what I get for not reading the full OP. How scarce are your waivers exactly? Like, is Housler available?

Housler is already on my team. TE's available are like

Niles Paul WAS TE

Logan Paulsen WAS TE

DJ WIlliams GB TE

Delanie Walker SF TE

Ladarius Green SDC TE

Clay Harbor PHI TE

As you can see we are talking slim pickings here.

Okay, I see. So Paulsen clearly caught on after Davis went out (4/76/0). He had the 12th most targets(6) last week amongst TEs barring the outcome of tonight's game. I'd clearly go with him over Niles.

The question comes down to how much Cooley has left in the tank/whether he can stay healthy. I honestly think he has as much upside as Kellen Winslow at this point. I'd grab Paulsen for now and would be surprised if Cooley became a legitimate contributor regardless of his knowledge of the system. It's possible but unlikely.

Pretty much agree with this.I would probably take a flyer on Cooley and keep an eye on Paulson.I have not had a good feeling about Niles Paul since training camp. He's suppose to have the speed, hands, and athletic ability and has actually been a fairly good blocker but he doesnt seem to be able to both get open or catch the ball well. Not a good combo. He will get a shot here but my money would be on Cooley, at least for the rest of this season.

Here is another question for you Football and Dynasty folks. If Fred Davis is a Free Agent in 2013, Logan Paulsen Free Agent in 2013, and I assume Cooley is just getting a one year deal (so Free Agent in 2013) WHO gets a new contract for the Redskins at TE.?? SOmeone has to play TE right? :)

Great question. As a skins fan I'm for letting Davis go. Talent is there but he's had multiple on and off field issues and now would be coming off an achilles. Hope he's able to get most out of his talent but don't think it's happening here.Paulson I would think would be relatively cheap. He's got the size and seems to be making most out of his opportunities to catch the ball. Bring him back on the roster and look to sign and/or draft a TE.Cooley....right now its certainly a rest of year deal but he is only 30. If he is truly healthy he could have a few years left. Big if though.

I'm in the same boat, losing Davis in a 32 team dynasty (and I dropped Cooley a few weeks ago). Have Jordan Cameron at least. I will say you have more pickings than I do. All those guys are rostered. Good luck!

As far as the original question, I guess I'd put Niles Paul last. Figure Cooley or Paulsen do the most.

Paulsen looked pretty good on the weekend with his catches. Not sure what that means for the offense, but RG3 didnt have a problem throwing to him after Davis went down.

If you're looking for production this year, you want Cooley or Paulson. Long-term, I think Niles Paul is the Redskins TE to own -- Mike Shanahan was comparing him to Shannon Sharpe during training camp. Niles Paul is making the transition from WR to TE and is a work in progress but he's probably the future starting Redskins TE barring a trade or high draft pick at TE.

i would thin it is paulsen actually. paul has the athleticism, sure, but can he block? they need to protect Griffin and get some production out of the position. Paul might not be the guy to do that but paulsen put up respectable numbers last week.

Paulsen is only in his 3rd year. Assuming he is not under contract for 2013, he would be RFA. RFAs are pretty inexpensive and they usually don't change teams. Davis's status is going to depend greatly on his recovery. An achilles tear sounds nasty, although it is apparently a partial tear.Niles Paul appears to be a project with his conversion to TE. Oddly enough, Mike Shanahan thought Paul would have no problems getting the blocking portion of the position down. From what I can tell, he is doing fine there. But he isn't catching the ball when it is thrown to him. He is struggling as a receiver.

For at least the next few weeks, Paulsen is the guy to have. It is clear the Redskins are comfortable throwing the Paulsen, even though he is not the receiver that Davis is. It is really not clear how good Cooley is since he injured his knee. It was not causing any problems in training camp, but Cooley's burst and running ability is not what is used to be.

paulsen of course won't be as good or impactful as fred davis but that doesn't mean he can't be as much or more of a ppr threat. Fred ran down the seams and stretched the middle of the field.......Paulsen will be around the LOS at all times and as we've seen in the past mobile QB's luv the crafty(slow) TE's that just find open holes in the zone and sit down.

For what it's worth, Shanahan brought up Terrell Davis on two separate occasions. Once in regards to Evan royster and later on for Alf Morris.

Coach Mike Shanahan said Logan Paulsen, not Chris Cooley, will be the Redskins' No. 1 tight end with Fred Davis out for the season."He's earned it," explained Shanahan. Paulsen has been dubbed "The Angle King" by Redskins coaches because he takes such good angles in blocking. OC Kyle Shanahan says Paulsen is "a legit tight end now" after his 76-yard breakout game in Davis' stead last week. Desperate deep leaguers may want to take Paulsen for a spin against the Steelers this week

With Fred Davis a FA is Paulsen the starter in 2013 and beyond? rotoworld:

It would cost the Redskins $6.54 million to use the franchise tag on TE Fred Davis for a second straight year. The Washington Times believes Davis' progress in his rehab from Achilles surgery could determine whether or not he gets the tag. We believe it's a prohibitive number for a player coming off major surgery. Davis isn't likely to draw that much guaranteed money on the open market. Jan 10 - 4:48 PM

Fred Davis is currently a Washington Redskin.

Isn't he an UFA?
