PDSL 1, BK's Boys (1 Viewer)

Shoot. I'm out until tonight as well--maybe midnight. Gotta floor tearout/rebuild to get going. :moneybag:

It might not get to me anyway since we ease up a little on weekends. I hadn't decided these next two for pm'n.

although perhaps not much of a payoff, it's late in the 17th and he is a starting QB as (right now)

17.12 Luke McCown, QB TB
At QB34?????Round 17?

Seriously, who goes before him after 25-27 QBs come off the board???
he is very far from a for sure thing, I dont even think he is the best QB on the roster right now. They could draft and/or trade for a QB

excellent value right now though
As of right now he is the starter. They didn't pursue Cutler very hard. They brought in Leftwich, and didn't sign him.

Do you think Brian Griese is going to impress them enough in training camp to beat him out? Or a second year player in Josh Johnson?

Jeff is only mad because he took him at pick 10.01 in our draft.
well its not aCraig Nall pick (where is construx??) but im pretty sure he could have waited
Where I'm at (Pick 16) I had to take him as there were only two starters left IMHO, him and Shaun Hill. Hard to wait on that with others needing a QB2.Current ADP:

10.01 PDSL2 (QB29)

10.10 PDSL3 (QB29)

13.08 PDSL4 (QB30)

17.12 PDSL1 (QB34)

So yes, Round 17 does stand out here as great value. QB29/30 seems about right for him so this was a bona fide steal.

If they dont draft QB, I could see them rotating all those guys in and out making them all worthless. I dont think he was worth it at round10, but each one of these dratfs is different and i understand not getting caught in a run.

Griese could take that job in camp easily.

Aside from an injury, McCown is going to be given every opportunity to be the starter. <<---Even though the guy with the horns is over there, I live in the Tampa Bay area and the Bucs is all that I hear on local TV and radio. All the talk is that they really like McCown. I find it similar to the Vikings last year, where Childress put his boy T. Jackson in at the beginning of the season. After a couple of subpar performances, he stuck the vet in.

If McCown does similarly this season and becomes McClown, they may put in Griese (whether he can do any better or not)

gonna be out a few hours. shipped a very short list to sniffer and twilight. if the list proves too short, i wont come close to a tmeout.

taking him over Shaun Hill isn't a very good moveYou should look a bit closer at Hill, and also his stats compared to rest of NFL while he was starting. He started then got a bye to sorta get comfy. He started 8 games and was 5-3 on top of that 2 of those games they lost by just 5 points. When's the last time a niners QB was a winning QB or had a shot at 7-1?Did I mention half the teams they played were playoff teams?6 of 8 games 90 or higher QB rating140+ one week which is awesome.5 of them multiple TD games64 % career completion percentage 68% last yearwhat more could you want from a young QB not named Ryan? You hope McCown is as good as Hill. Also Vikes are just plain dopey for needing a QB(all this time before Sage) and yet they had him.ETA one other thing, this is the only board I frequent where he'd have gone this late in drafts. By summer he'll go far sooner

I pretty much agree with your post except 29 is not young in the NFL. He's 2 weeks younger than Carson Palmer.ETA: somewhat ironically, in W4:

10.01 FUBAR - Shaun Hill - QB28 - SF

18.13 Duke 1948 - Luke McCown - QB35 - TB

I like Shaun Hill - I have him in a few leagues. But in Survivor, him vs. McCown - I like McCown for this year for three reasons:1. TB has better receiver options. SF has Morgan and....? Bruce may not make the cut. Brandon Jones is unreliable. VD is in the doghouse. TB has ABryant, 2 good RBs that can catch, and KW2.2. SF is going to run quite a bit, de-emphasizing the pass. They're aiming at working Gore a ton.3. Shaun Hill isn't guaranteed to start, even though I agree he should. You mention Hill's numbers, which are very good. I don't want to drop any more names but there are other QBs that aren't starting now despite good 2008 numbers.

3. "You can't" use that against Hill and consequently in favor of McCown. He's no guarantee to start either. Doesn't seem like a good argument.2. Where'd ya get that from? When I've seen quotes from Singletary they discuss a balanced offense. Regardless, they ran almost 400 times in 08. Maybe they can squeeze 50 more but that's 3 per game hardly an amount that'll negatively effect the QBs stats.1. TB better receiving options- If you want to say it's the 32nd and 31st receiving corps then fine but "better WRs" and Bucs just don't go in the same sentence for me. No doubt the 49ers lack a star but, they have a fun group of scrappy complimentary guys. Most everyone of them had their moments in 2008 which is intriguing to me for 09. Galloway is in NE. Last I looked Hilliard wasn't on a team. I like Clayton as a hopeful to get it together guy but, who wows you on the Bucs? Bottom line for me here is Hill did well with his scrappy WR corps, asking McCown to do well with his seems like a tall order. If I were the Bucs 16 year old coach, I'd have them run every imaginable chance I could.

I was debating whether to go with only one kicker, but the added insurance may be worth it here in round 18.

18.12 Dan Carpenter K MIA

PMing next

Heads up guys...note my thread in this forum where I'll be stopping this draft after BSS's 19.16 pick.

Well, Morris was my pick, so I'll go with

18.16 Lamont Jordan, RB, Denver

19.01 Joe Nedney, PK, SF

SF gave $16.5M reasons for me to like this guy in the 17th....

17.10....Brandon Jones,WR--SF

Duckboy has been notified...everyone have a SAFE Easter Holiday!
Steal in the 17th. He should be starting.
:goodposting:
What? He's the starter in SF along with Josh Morgan.
not according to this website.
If Bruce doesnt retire, he'll have better stats than both

I guess we shall see.... but everything I've heard from SF is that it is Morgan and Jones, with Bruce in the slot (or another WR).Niners Nation

ETA: You do see 3 guys in green, right? That means they're competing to start and there's not a guarantee. Bruce is by no means a guaranteed starter.
Bruce wasn't in green before...
