PDSL 3 Draft Chatter (1 Viewer)

if your defense gives up 7 points and 200 yards (pretty darn good day) you only get 4 points....add to the fact that they may not even be the ones "giving up" the points if your dst team's qb throws a pick 6 or something.....

personally I think dst is a crap shoot unless you KNOW they are going to get a ton of sacks.....obviously you increase your odds of geting a good score by having more to chose from...

and quite honestly if I had a suggestion for these leagues it would be to make dst's more important as far as scoring goes....if a dst has a really good game in the real world, that teams chances of winning probably increase pretty substantially.....giving more points than what they get currently might be a little closer to reality and of course change draft strategies accordingly.......which is always fun.... :wall:

2.13 - Jeff Pasquino - Philip Rivers, SD, QB4

8.13 - Jeff Pasquino - Alex Smith, SF, QB23

1.04 - Jeff Pasquino - Ray Rice, BAL, RB4

7.04 - Jeff Pasquino - Ryan Mathews, ROOK, RB32

9.04 - Jeff Pasquino - Thomas Jones, NYJ, RB40

3.04 - Jeff Pasquino - Steve Smith, NYG, WR15

5.04 - Jeff Pasquino - Donald Driver, GB, WR25

6.13 - Jeff Pasquino - Antonio Bryant, CIN, WR34

10.13 - Jeff Pasquino - Josh Morgan, SF, WR59

15.04 - Jeff Pasquino - Brian Hartline, Mia, WR79

16.13 - Jeff Pasquino - Antwan Randel El, Pit, WR81

17.04 - Jeff Pasquino - Michael Jenkins, ATL, WR84

4.13 - Jeff Pasquino - Kellen Winslow, Jr, TB, TE9

12.13 - Jeff Pasquino - Tony Scheffler, DEN, TE24

11.04 - Jeff Pasquino - Baltimore Ravens, D/ST4

13.04 - Jeff Pasquino - Denver Broncos, D/ST14

14.13 - Jeff Pasquino - Jay Feely, Ari, K10

QB2 for Alex Rivers came down to him vs. Cassel, Sanchez and one other (not picked). Threw in Josh Freeman as well for consideration.

I wanted a guy who has big game potential, and with SF having Crabtree and VD along with Gore there's a good chance that Smith can have a few 2-3 TD games.

RB in Round 9 was a huge value. HUGE. Thomas Jones had 14 TDs last year and was a Top 10 RB. Sure now he's in KC and behind a weaker line, but Jamaal Charles had just 7 TDs last year and I think that KC will use TJ for plenty of goal line situations. I doubt he'll get double digit TDs, but even if they swap TD numbers then 6-7 scores for my RB3 is well worth this pick.

Also of note was the ton of WRs taken already - 48 off the board in 8 rounds, or basically 3 full rounds' worth. That meant something was falling, and it was RBs. Glad to have waited for my third.
10.13 - Jeff Pasquino - Josh Morgan, SF, WR59Adding WR4 as soon as you can is usually a good idea, especially given that you are guaranteed at three bye weeks for your starters. Coupling Morgan with my QB2 also affords me a possible double bonus.

11.04 - Jeff Pasquino - Baltimore Ravens, D/ST4

Thought about a few others here but it is hard to argue against the Ravens, year over year. They're usually among the league leaders in this format on a regular basis.
12.13 - Jeff Pasquino - Tony Scheffler, DEN, TE24 Grabbing what I thought was the last really viable TE2 was a no-brainer for me. was hoping a bit more for the DEF/ST run in Rounds 11&12 but it was more of a TE2 run. I guess the lack of depth after about TE16-17 has become a bit more obvious to the group after looking at other drafts and experiencing the WSLs.

13.04 - Jeff Pasquino - Denver Broncos, D/ST14

Like I mentioned in the draft thread, I liked SD's list of opponents - KC x2, OAK x2, NFC West (Seattle/StL/SF/Az) and the AFC South (Hou/Indy/Jax/Ten) presents some good matchups about 50% of the time, which is pretty good. Swapping DEN for SD isn't a bad option given that they have the same matchups (aside from each other) and two games: SD has NE and CIN while DEN gets BAL and the Jets. Denver's also a nice plus with good turnovers and a nice return game last year so hopefully that keeps up.
14.13 - Jeff Pasquino - Jay Feely, Ari, K10Wanted a PK with a good upside on a team that might struggle in the Red Zone (Matt Leinart....). Also helps that he will play in nice weather 90+% of the time.

15.04 - Jeff Pasquino - Brian Hartline, Mia, WR79

Really liked this pick.... until the Marshall trade. I still like Hartline but these two play the same style - and we all know who's better. Hartline is a deep, big play guy and can get a few TDs a year but certainly this hurts his value. I'd expect him to be a WR3/4 now with Marshall starting, and Bess on the other side. Oh well.
16.13 - Jeff Pasquino - Antwan Randel El, Pit, WR81Pittsburgh WRs last year (Top 3 WRs): 213 catches, 3,171 yards and 17 TDs. With Ward a solid WR1A and Mike Wallace suddenly now a WR1"B", there's room for a 3rd WR in the mix. Adding ARE, a former Steeler, back to the group seems like the top name for WR3 duties. I don't see Ward and Wallace taking more than 75% of those numbers (170 catches, 2,500+ yards, about 12-13 TDs) would leave a nice 40-600-4 line for ARE if these numbers hold. I'll take that at WR6.

17.04 - Jeff Pasquino - Michael Jenkins, ATL, WR84

Jenkins is still slated to start for ATL and has had 50 or more catches the last three seasons. He had just one TD last year though, so he'll have to score 3-4 times to be valuable as a WR7 - which was his average the last 4 years, including one year with seven. Not a bad option for WR7 on my team here and should be good to cover any bye issues, I hope.

The defenses generally don't score a ton, but sometimes they do. And when you have a couple of sacks and an interception that gets returned for a TD, wham, you suddenly have a double digit score by the defense. Since the scoring by defenses is rather random, the additional third defense increases the probablility of a big score. As an aside, in 16-team leagues, when one or two squads have three defenses, that also means that one or two or three teams only have one defense. One defense guarantees one week of zero and increases the likelihood of a small score in others.

I was happy to get the 32nd defense ... even if it is Jacksonville

RB: Benson, Fred Jackson, Jacobs, McCluster

WR: Fitzgerald, Marshall, Massaquoi, Gaffney, Reggie Brown

TE: Daniels, Pettigrew

K: Kasay, Nedney

Def: Tenn, Jax

This team is looking a little better. Pretty happy with the way QB, RB, and TE have turned out. Still looking for another WR for depth and possibly look to bolster another position. I do not like having so many players from bad teams/offenses.

I think Henne, Gaffney, and Pettigrew all were value. Too early to know whether the trade might hurt Marshall.

Added Michael Clayton. Hoping to have one productive TB each week (may be a Santonio Holmes pipe dream tho)

QB Flacco

RB Mendenhall, Forte

WR R. Moss, Welker, Royal

TE Gonzalez

QB - Flacco should continue his progression of skill performance. The addition of a new weapon in Boldin will help that along.

RB - Solid pair in Mendenhall and Forte. With Parker gone now Mendenhall becomes the main ball carrier in Pittsburgh. Will need to wait and see what role Forte will have in Martz's new offense in Chicago.

WR - Not sure what to think about two WRs from the same team, especially one recovering from a knee injury. But NE will continue to throw the ball behind Brady and if Welker is back early in the season then this tandem of WRs will be solid. Hopefully Royal bounces back from a poor year last year.

TE - I expect Gonzo to have at least another year or two in him to contribute in the Falcon's offense.

QB: Flacco will be a solid performer in the NFL. Someone will start in St Louis and my guess is that Bradford will be that QB. The weapons are not that bad when you start with SJax in the backfield so this a solid combination of young talent.

RB: Mendy is the go-to guy in Pittsburgh. With Holmes gone, Ward another year older and Rothlisberger on the bad side of the front office and NFL, Rashard will get plenty of oppourtunity to carry the ball and grind-out the yardage. Add Forte, Portis/Johnson combo and fillins Ward and Norwood and this grouping will be alright. Nothing spectacular but again this group should not hurt me either.

WR: Glad to pickup Moss in round two when I was considering him in round 1 - however pairing him with Welker could be a major blunder, especially if Welker fails to get back onto the field before November. Not sure if Royal will benefit from Marshall's trade. Before the trade I was hoping that Royal would benefit from the change to a slot receiver alignment - now with Marshall gone I am not sure where Denver will line Royal up on the field. Hopefully Denver drafts another WR in the 1st round (Bryant?) and thus Royal can go into the slot again where he has performed better. The other WRs (Cribbs, Benn, Butler and Caldwell) are nothing special but hopefully provide points during the bye weeks. This is definitely the weakest part of my team and I would draft differently here but everytime I was going to get a WR he would be drafted a couple spots ahead of me.

TE: Gonzo is a solid if not aging TE in the league. I probably should have got a back-up for him but again everytime I was looking at a TE another team would draft the player I was looking at. This happened in the case of Crumpler and Scaife, I was suprised when these teams picked 3 TEs for their rosters. If Gonzo can finish in the top 5 of TEs then the fact that I don't have a TE during his bye week will be mitigated provided Atlanta's bye week is early in the season.

K and D/ST: Given the uncertainty of kickers in this league I am happy with Hartley and Folk and both kick for relatively potent offenses that should be in the red-zone alot this coming season. The defenses are two good ones and I am happy with these picks. I considered taking an extra at either of these spots but I never was on the clock at the right time to do that so I will be happy not to be one of those fiendish teams that drafted 3 D/ST to screw with another league-mate.

Please feel free to comment - good, bad and ugly and if I get a moment or two I will try to do the same for other teams.

QB: For being the last guy to really take one it is not that bad. Might have taken Anderson but I think I got the Seattle guy no matter what as insurance. Overall it is not great but the Whitehurst pick was the key and makes this okay

RB: I like my top 3. I fully expect Beanie to explode this year and I like the combo with Leinart. Addai is one of the most underated RB's IMO and is maybe my true #1 guy in the end. As long as he is healthy he is points waiting to happen. McFadden was worth the risk and is the starter there. DOnt expect great numbers but hopefully he fills in from time to time. Davis and Tate are hopefuls. I was going Lendale White instead of Tate but swung for the fences again

WR; I like it but probably change things a little with Holmes to Jets affecting Edwards maybe. Even though I think Cotch loses. I like Maclin as 3 and think that Henderson is a guy that will provide you 6 scores a year that help the cause. James Jones I hope finally is used like he should be and Dillard could win the job with Jags still. I like this unit overall still with my stud Wayne to anchor

TE: Gates is a stud and Miller gets lots of good press. Happy here

D/PK - D are 2 young exciting ones while PK is weak but I am hoping TIffin gets drafted and starts like a Mason Crosby. I think Baltimore or Cincy will be his destination. I could be the only Tiffin owner in WSL and PDSL. Unique.

Overall I am pretty happy. A few things I would change but not many. Felt I did a much better job at end of draft here than WSL but liked WSL start better. I think I will contend

Gotta say that I'm overall very pleased with the way this squad worked out--think it can be final four with any kind of luck, and after that it's frequently a coin toss.

There were two picks through the course of drafting where I second guessed myself at the last minute and changed my planned pick--and doggone if I didn't live to regret it both times. First was at 8.06 when I had actually targetted a good QB2, and instead veered to TE--which I had intended to wait one more round for. Y'all promptly ate up the QB's. Second time was at the 18.06 Mewelde Moore pick--again, looking to shore up the QB's. *sigh* Guess I oughta know better by now....

QB's: Did not intend to go QB in round 1, but really felt like Brees at that point was workable, not a reach at all. I'm not as optimistic about Vick backing him up as MOP is (PDSL4 breakdowns) but sure hope he's right! The Bulger pick was a prayer--Brees is going to have to produce for this to work--steady, preferably, instead of fits and starts.

RB's: I think Grant, Cadillac and Maroney are strong as a combo; Morris and Moore will get play--and possibly be starting at times during the season. For that matter, Morris to SD would be a bonus, too--though right now that doesn't look as likely to happen.

WR's: This is what I intended to be the backbone of this team, and when the opportunities came drafted towards that goal. Having passed on WR in Round 1 I don't see any of them as top five and maybe not ten--but they're real solid and hopefully their scoring will complement each others highs and lows. Personally I think the key to how this group works out--assuming the top three are at least consistant--is how Derrick Mason produces now with Anquan in the house. I can see that combo helping both of them.

TE's: For as late as I picked them it turned into a pretty solid group, imo, and hopefully will work out as I look for with the WR's. It'll be particularly interesting to see how Crumpler fits in the NE passing game, since he's taking the place of both of the TE's they split most of their passes to last year.

Sidebars: Kickers...got two of them--maybe, assuming Graham finds a home. Just one Defense--but I sorta expected that when BNB pulled his trifecta.

Other than Brees, I dont like much of thise team at all. And if anything happens to him it is lights out with the backups even though I do like BUlger. Your higher on your RB's than I would be. Your WR core behind White is overrated or declining. Hate your TE's. I see an early exit for these team for some reason

QB: Garrard, Stafford, Henne

I like these QBs as a group. With the Marshall trade, I hope I can find one decent game among the three each week.

RB: Benson, Fred Jackson, Jacobs, McCluster

After going WR/WR early, I was left playing catch up at RB. Overall, I like this group ok. I think I have three decent starters and one play-maker.

WR: Fitzgerald, Marshall, Massaquoi, Gaffney, Reggie Brown, Michael Clayton, Justin Gage

Getting two stud WRs should be enough to carry me some weeks. It should be interesting to see how Massaquoi and Gaffney turn out. I waited a LONG time for WR3 and am happy with both of these. Gaffney finished the year very strong (weeks 16/17). Getting the two Buc WRs was just a shot in the dark for occasional decent games.

TE: Daniels, Pettigrew

Two tight ends coming off injuries. The Scheffler trade makes it appear that Pettigrew will begin the season on the PuP list. This could be dicey, but Daniels was elite before injury last year.

K: Kasay, Nedney

Two average kickers that should be locked in with their teams.

Def: Tenn, Jax

I like the Tenn defense to rebound and was happy to get the 32nd defense off the board as Def2.

Overall, this team needs a break or two at RB and TE, but has a shot. Much will depend on Fred Jackson, Jacobs, and Owen Daniels.

6.03 - Renesauz - Kevin Kolb, PHI, QB16

8.03 - Renesauz - Vince Young, Ten, QB18

High upside young-guns at minimal cost. I snagged Kolb before news of the trade was made ni anticipation of the trade. At worst, he slightly out-preforms his draft slot. At best, he's easily in the top ten. Young is an above average backup.

1.14 - Renesauz - DeAngelo Williams, CAR, RB9

3.14 - Renesauz - LeSean McCoy, PHI, RB17

7.14 - Renesauz - Donald Brown, IND, RB35

15.14 - Renesauz - Bernard Scott, CIN, RB56

18.03 - Renesauz - Julius Jones, Sea, RB66

Williams is dangerous as a RB1, since he could end up losing more carries to his backup then most stud RB's would, but at RB9 is a good gamble. McCoy may or may not be the stud RB Philly wants, but he did show very good hands coming out of the backfield. I like him at RB17, in PPR RB17 seems almost a given. Hard to say whether his value went up or down with Kolb. I suspect his receptions dip slightly, but his rushing opportunities grow slightly, creating a wash. I like, but don't love, my depth here with Brown and Jones.

2.03 - Renesauz - Vincent Jackson, SD, WR6

4.03 - Renesauz - Michael Crabtree, SF, WR19

9.14 - Renesauz - Anthony Gonzalez, Ind, WR51

10.03 - Renesauz - Chris Chambers, Mia, WR53

17.14 - Renesauz - Legadu Naanee, SD, WR87

19.14 - Renesauz - James Hardy, Buf, WR96

20.03 - Renesauz - Brandon Gibson, StL, WR100

Jackson should be fine as a #1. Crabtree is a bit of a leap of faith, but it's hard to imagine him coming up too far short of this draft slot (#19). Gonzalez is a very risky #3, depending on how things shake out in INdy, but the quick selection of Chambers at least insures a WR3, albeit one with virtually zero upside. Right now, I think Gonzalez is being criminally under-rated, but I could be wrong. Naanee, Hardy, and Gibson should all work fine as depth pieces as long as they remain 2s (or at least 3s) on their respective clubs...not safe picks perhaps, but all with upside.

5.14 - Renesauz - Heath Miller, Pit, TE11

11.14 - Renesauz - Jared Cook, Ten, TE20

EH...should work. Not the strength of this squad, but shouldn't kill me either.

12.03 - Renesauz - Philadelphia Eagles, D/ST6

14.03 - Renesauz - Washington Redskins, D/ST19

13.14 - Renesauz - Nate Kaeding, SD, K1

16.03 - Renesauz - Josh Scobee, JAX, K22

Two of each. The Philly/Wash combo should work very well I think, but nothing to get excited about. I felt I had to go Kicker when I did, or would have been caught short on either a kicker or a DST at the next turn.

Drafting on the ends is always tough, and means making a reach once in a while. This roster is full of high-upside players, and very few safe players. If I'm right about Kolb and McCoy (and at least one of those WR's), this team could be dominant. If I'm wrong, it could be a quick exit. I don't see a mid-season exit as likely.

2.13 - Jeff Pasquino - Philip Rivers, SD, QB4

8.13 - Jeff Pasquino - Alex Smith, SF, QB23

1.04 - Jeff Pasquino - Ray Rice, BAL, RB4

7.04 - Jeff Pasquino - Ryan Mathews, ROOK, RB32

9.04 - Jeff Pasquino - Thomas Jones, NYJ, RB40

18.13 - Jeff Pasquino - Joe McKnight, Rookie, RB71

20.13 - Jeff Pasquino - LeGarrette Blount, Rookie, RB77

3.04 - Jeff Pasquino - Steve Smith, NYG, WR15

5.04 - Jeff Pasquino - Donald Driver, GB, WR25

6.13 - Jeff Pasquino - Antonio Bryant, CIN, WR34

10.13 - Jeff Pasquino - Josh Morgan, SF, WR59

15.04 - Jeff Pasquino - Brian Hartline, Mia, WR79

16.13 - Jeff Pasquino - Antwan Randel El, Pit, WR81

17.04 - Jeff Pasquino - Michael Jenkins, ATL, WR84

4.13 - Jeff Pasquino - Kellen Winslow, Jr, TB, TE9

12.13 - Jeff Pasquino - Tony Scheffler, DEN, TE24

11.04 - Jeff Pasquino - Baltimore Ravens, D/ST4

13.04 - Jeff Pasquino - Denver Broncos, D/ST14

14.13 - Jeff Pasquino - Jay Feely, Ari, K10

19.04 - Jeff Pasquino - Neil Rackers, Hou, K29

Quarterbacks:

2.13 - Jeff Pasquino - Philip Rivers, SD, QB4

8.13 - Jeff Pasquino - Alex Smith, SF, QB23

Rivers is a solid starter and a Top 10 QB with a great track record for both production and durability. Alex Smith has plenty of weapons and a good pass-catching TE and RB. I like this pair.

1.04 - Jeff Pasquino - Ray Rice, BAL, RB4

7.04 - Jeff Pasquino - Ryan Mathews, ROOK, RB32

9.04 - Jeff Pasquino - Thomas Jones, NYJ, RB40

18.13 - Jeff Pasquino - Joe McKnight, Rookie, RB71

20.13 - Jeff Pasquino - LeGarrette Blount, Rookie, RB77

Running Backs:

Ray Rice, Thomas Jones and some dice rolls. Rice is a consensus Top 4 Rb for 2010 (and beyond), so I like the RB1 situation. Thomas Jones should be a nice RBBC play for KC and get the goal line looks. Three rooks may seem excessive, but there's little doubt that RB is the position where first year guys can make some impact. All I need is one of these guys to "hit" and I'm in very good shape. It also makes the draft more interesting to watch. ;)

3.04 - Jeff Pasquino - Steve Smith, NYG, WR15

5.04 - Jeff Pasquino - Donald Driver, GB, WR25

6.13 - Jeff Pasquino - Antonio Bryant, CIN, WR34

10.13 - Jeff Pasquino - Josh Morgan, SF, WR59

15.04 - Jeff Pasquino - Brian Hartline, Mia, WR79

16.13 - Jeff Pasquino - Antwan Randel El, Pit, WR81

17.04 - Jeff Pasquino - Michael Jenkins, ATL, WR84

Wide Receivers:

Two solid starters for PPR purposes at WR1/WR2 in Steve Smith (NYG) and Driver, then some guys with nice upside. AB in CIN is likely to be a deep threat to compliment 85, and Morgan starts outside for the 49ers and should get even better as defenses have to focus more on Crabtree. Having Morgan is also nice as if he has a nice week, odds are that so will Alex Smith - my QB2. Hartline still may start on the other side of Brandon Marshall, as he stretches the field better than Marshall (but he does great with YAC - but isn't so much of a deep route runner). ARE gets a nice boost in PITT with Santonio Holmes being traded, plus he usually gets 1-2 gimmick TDs either or end arounds or WR passes. Jenkins is a starting WR2 for Atlanta and catches more passes than many WR2s in the league.

Really thought about a WR8, but I am not sure how much value that would add to the team. Plenty of names are out there with 3 picks to go - and I dare say some better names are still out there than have been picked lately.

Tight ends:

4.13 - Jeff Pasquino - Kellen Winslow, Jr, TB, TE9

12.13 - Jeff Pasquino - Tony Scheffler, DEN, TE24

KW2 is a strong TE, but I was sniped here with OD going to Jeff T. I'll take the big target for TB on a team with few alternate options. Scheffler (now in DET) should work well with Stafford and get some red zone targets.

Defenses:

11.04 - Jeff Pasquino - Baltimore Ravens, D/ST4

13.04 - Jeff Pasquino - Denver Broncos, D/ST14

Two solid options and the Ravens are the favorite in the AFC North.

Kickers:

14.13 - Jeff Pasquino - Jay Feely, Ari, K10

19.04 - Jeff Pasquino - Neil Rackers, Hou, K29

Feely's an underrated PK, and now he's in a better climate and on a team that might struggle to punch in touchdowns. I like that for my PK.

I feel safe in saying that there's a sleeper K out there that I probably could have waited to grab in Round 20, but I'm fine with Rackers. Yes, HOU has two PKs heading into this summer, but they've lost faith in last year's PK. Following the money, I find Rackers on a team that puts up very good points.

Good draft everyone. Feel free to punch holes in this squad - if you can find them. /LHUCKS

1.03 MJD: I am not as high on Ray Rice as others this year. Could be totally off base, but MJD doesn't seem to have guys the caliber of McGahee and McClain breathing down his neck and stealing carries, especially at the goaline. McGahee looked really good at times last year and I think his play will warrant more time on the field for Baltimore. That for me was the deciding factor of MJD over Rice. Bottom line.....if McGahee didn't look so good at times last year, I might have gone with Rice.

2.14 Tom Brady: Was really happy to see Brady here. I think he will be slightly undervalued this year in most leagues. In some leagues he will slide a few more spots than he should allowing an owner to scoop him up and then also reap the benefits on the way back with their next pick. It is not out of the question that Brady returns to the top QB in the league. Welker's injury hurts, but NE will still throw a ton and they will have guys to throw to, and it doesn't really matter what the name is on the back of the jersey. Brady is the strength of this team, not the running game. I see him throwing 35+ times a game, that's all I care about. When Jeff took Rivers it made this pick pretty easy. RC and Bass did not have a QB. I am not a Romo guy and to me Brady is a little safer than Schaub. Schaub had a great year last year, but I wouldn't be surprised if he took a couple steps backward this year. I see a pretty big dropoff after the top 6 this year, so getting Brady was an easy pick and he should be able to keep me in the hunt most weeks.

3.03 Vernon Davis: A very pivotal pick. In the top of the third, this is where you have to make a decision about what direction you head. What position are you going to sacrifice? In most leagues, it is not an issue, but with 2ppr for the TE, it becomes an issue. I actually had a ton of thoughts here. Actually considered Schaub for a second, just to #### with people. RB was not really a consideration here, although I took a look. WR was definatley a thought. Boldin kept staring at me. Smith/NYG a little....those were the only two I really cosidered. I took a look at TE. Had my pick of Finley, Gonzo, Davis and Celek who I considered the only ones worthy of this pick. I actually had Boldin's name typed in here and was going to tank the TE position.....but then really thought about Balt being a run first team and this being Boldin's first year with a new team. I think Boldin is going to be a great fit in Balt, but I talked myself out of it. In the end what won is that I thought I would rather have potentially the top guy at the TE spot over a decent WR. I think Davis finished 4th in scoring overall last year in this format (I could be wrong) and I do expect him to come back to earth a little, but even if he does, there should still be solid numbers. I see him as option 1b to Crabtree's 1a and he has the physical skills to be a playmaker. I think Singletary's toughness has brought out the player that we all thought was inside VD. Gonzo really wasn't a thought here and I love Finley, but he has more competiton for recptions. Celek would have actually been the guy I may have taken instead although I also see other competition for receptions there.

merged and continued.....

4.14 Hakeem Nicks: Only 8 WR's went between my picks, so I was really happy to see Nicks still available.....If Ronnie Brown would have made it to me I might have pulled the trigger on him, so maybe in a way I am glad he didn't get to me.....I think Nicks may be the most complete WR on NYG

5.03 Jerome Harrison: I believe Harrison is very underrated, he has shown he can handle a big work load and has tons of big game potential. I think if I surround these two RB's with some upside guys later I will be okay, but this is the spot I knew I passed on some value with my last few picks. Not a ton of other considerations at RB here for me.

6.14 Devin Aromashodu: All I can say is I think he is the real deal and as I have said before I will be targeting him in every draft this year even if I have to pull the trigger early. I knew some other people liked him as well, so felt I had to get him here if I wanted to make sure I got him. Cutler loves him, I could see him becoming the focal point of the passing game and he is just one of those guys who at least when I watch him play, he seems to have what I look for in an up and coming WR in the NFL.

7.03 Julian Edelman: I for one do not prescribe to the thought that he is gonna be good for awhile and then disappear when/if Welker comes back. I will not draft Welker in this format. I see Edleman gobbling up catches all year. Brady will throw a ton. Watson and Baker are gone. Crumpler does not scare me for stealing catches. Actually considered Owens here, but he is not on a team and I felt that if I added him it might have been just to add some pop to my team on paper. I see NE getting another WR somewhere and possibly drafting someone like Aaron Hernandez to maybe be a pass catching threat at TE along side the veteran Crumpler, so that could be a concern, and Tate could emerge, but I love this pick.

8.14 Matt Cassel: The QB2 run started as expected and I was happy to see Cassel still available. He was the last one I saw that I wanted and preferred him over a few guys taken before him in this round. I like the direction KC is moving and I think Cassel will outscore Brady some weeks. More qusetion marks at QB heading into this year than there has been in the past, glad to have two solid guys.

9.03 Mike Wallace: This was a tough pick. Almost went RB here but even with Ward and Holmes and Miller around, I think this the year Wallace takes the next step. Honestly I have had Holmes on several fantasy teams over the past few years and I can say I have always been a little disappointed. I think Wallace may be the toughest WR to defend on their roster. He goes and gets the ball, I like guys that do that. Big Ben's issues are a concern and almost pulled me off this pick. I just took the WR3 on a team instead of some quality WR2's that were still out there. But I see breakout potential here. (All of that was written before the trade, obviously love the pick a little more now, however if Ben gets suspended I think that Wallace's value in this format takes a hit).

10.14 Willis McGahee: I think he can put up startable numbers even backing up Rice. Willis had some very nice games last year and is on a run first team. I think he will get plenty of time spelling Rice and double digit TD's are not out of the question. Good value for round 10 and an ok guy as RB3, plus if Rice misses any time, he becomes a monster. Was glad Jeff P passed on him.

11.03 Marshawn Lynch: I believe he will be traded and could potentially walk right in to a starting gig. He has shown that he can produce and I may have just gotten a 3rd starting RB in the 11th round. I really have no idea why but I really liked this pick. Securing McGahee and Lynch with my last two picks felt like good compliments to MJD and Harrison. Weren't a ton of other considerations here.

12.14 Earl Bennett: meh...wasn't excited about much here. DST were flying off the board and I knew the kicker thing would be happening soon. Looked at what was left at WR and thought Bennett was the best of what was left. Have a bye week issue with Devin A. but decided it was worth it. Chicago may be chucking it around this year and Cutler and Bennett have some history together. I know some won't agree, but I think Hester gets passed up by some of the other WR's on that team this year.

13.03 Indy DST: As mentioned I hate the value of DST's in this format, but you gotta have em. Didn't want to be left on the outside looking in so grabbed one. In this format, I actually have teams with a guy like Cribbs rated higher as I think taking one to the house in some way is the only real difference. Freeney and co should get some sacks and teams may have to gamble to keep pace with Peyton and co so maybe some pick 6's for this dst.

14.14 Sebastian Janikowski: Some question marks and turnover at the kicker position, so with that my thought was to grab two guys that are pretty entrenched. There may have been some other kickers available on some better scoring teams but I know Shank ain't going anywhere.

15.03 Robbie Gould: Rounds 12-15 just really suck, nothing to get excited about and it's kinda like just going through the motions. Gould is on the same team as two of my WR's but I don't care at this point, he is a kicker, he has a pulse, and I think he is entrenched. Glad this part is over.

16.14 Shawn Nelson: Would have taken Cleveland DST here if they would have fallen 4 more spots due to the Cribbs factor. When it did get to my pick there were only 3 DST left, didn't figure Bass would take a 4th and I didn't really care which one of the three I got with my next pick. Took a gamble here on a guy I think might break through this year. Dude is a beast and seems to have some skills and can be a matchup problem. Hoping t he new regime in Buffalo decides to us him more. There were some safer picks, but with Davis on board I thought I could swing for the fences here a little at TE.

17.03 Tampa DST: whatever...wanted to take Naanee here as I think he has breakout potential and if VJ gets suspended could be a solid player for awhile. But wanted to have 2 D's to chose from, so this sucked.

18.14 Damian Williams: With my last 3 picks I knew I was going with 2 WR's and 1 RB, so to me it was just BPA at those positions from here on out. Kinda the first time in draft that all the guys I was targeting went in front of me (Naanee, Dixon, LenDale, and Joe McNight) Was really hoping to add LenDale here, but no such luck. Nothing really jumped out at me so taking a shot with a rookie WR. If he lands in the right spot, could provide some immediate production. NFL peeps like his all around skills, so do I, welcome aboard.

19.03 Jason Snelling: Dude had some games with some nice production. Could still post some numbers even if Turner is healthy. Nothing real exciting here unless Turner gets hurt, then he is gold. Almost swithced gears and went with Scaife, but wanted to add a 5th RB. R. Jennings was a consideration, but I am not big on handcuffs.

20.14 Greg Camarillo: could have taken another rookie WR here but went a little conservative and took a steady guy to round out my WR's. Might have taken Gibson or Gage had they fallen due to the changes in MIA. Like having 7 WR's in this format. Losing Ginn but addding Marshall is not a wash, so Cam's value takes a hit. He is a good football player that will get on the field. Had 50+ catches the last two years in a run first wildcat scheme, so while there may be some drop in production, he could also maybe have a couple of decent games when I need it. Consedered LaFell, Decker, Sanders and Gilyard as well. Oh and also Stokley.

Ok with this draft. Solid QB's, some potential at RB if things shake out. I took a young with upside approach at WR. Solid TE with a gamble behind him. You never know in this format, so it's kind of impossible to predict which of the 16 teams is better than the rest, just kind of cool to see how other people value guys. Approach here is different than redrafts, but nice to see how some of the legends around here think things will happen this fall.

Good luck to all...enjoyed it.

Byes look good!

QB: Garrard (9), Stafford (7), Henne (5)

RB: Benson (6), Fred Jackson (6), Jacobs (8), McCluster (?)

WR: Fitzgerald (6), Marshall (5), Massaquoi (8), Gaffney (9), Reggie Brown (4), Michael Clayton (4), Justin Gage (9)

TE: Daniels (7), Pettigrew (7)

K: Kasay (6), Nedney (9)

Def: Tenn (9), Jax (9)

A couple of issues with the byes. Week six hurts the backs with Benson and Fred Jackson. I need Jacobs to have a decent game that week. Fitzgerald also is off that week. Having both tight ends with byes in week seven is an issue as well. Nothing too much to overcome, but still an issue in week six as I assume it will be for others. Having all three QBs with different byes is a good bonus.

No bye issues here. I guess Cooley and CJ sharing a bye isn't ideal, but no one else is off when half the league is off. Doubling up on Minny WRs didn't hurt as they are my only 4 four MIAs.

5.07 - OldFatGuy - Brett Favre, Min, QB11 (4)

8.10 - OldFatGuy - Matt Moore, Car, QB22 (6)

18.10 - OldFatGuy - Tarvaris Jackson, MIN, QB35 (4)

The key here is keeping Favre healthy.. He's as tough as they come, i think he gives out before he gives in. As long as the OL keeps him standing, and the trainer has a generous supply of cortisone, the continuous streak continues. Week 4 Carolina plays at New Orleans, looking for garbage time from Moore.

19.07 - OldFatGuy - Albert Young, Min, RB73 (4)

Spiller is the only rookie I drafted. I'll be watching Thursday nite to see where he's picked..

2.10 - OldFatGuy - DeSean Jackson, PHI, WR10 (8)

4.10 - OldFatGuy - Pierre Garcon, INDY, WR22 (7)

7.07 - OldFatGuy - Steve Breaston, AZ, WR39 (6)

11.07 - OldFatGuy - Nate Washington, TEN, WR64 (9)

20.10 - OldFatGuy - Bryant Johnson, Det, WR104 (7)

No real WR1 but a nice usable mix of WR 2-3-4 with a good draw of bye weeks. Question marks in the PHI and ARI QB situations. I think Garcon has top 10 WR potential and was good value in the fourth.

3.07 - OldFatGuy - Jermichael Finley, GB, TE5 (10)

13.07 - OldFatGuy - Benjamin Watson, CLE, TE26 (8)

Finley is the key to this team. I think he is a consistent 20-point a game scorer in this format.

12.10 - OldFatGuy - Green Bay Packers, D/ST9 (10)

16.10 - OldFatGuy - Cleveland Browns, D/ST28 (8)

Dom Capers has built the Packers D into an agressive, turnover-producing unit that is only going to get better. The Browns special teams may score enough to push them into the starting lineup sometime during the year.

14.10 - OldFatGuy - Rob Bironas, TEN, K8 (9)

15.07 - OldFatGuy - Matt Bryant, Atl, K17 (8)

With VY at QB, Bironas averaged 9 points a game. This should be in the upper tier of kickers. When you get caught on the wrong side of a position run, you end up with guys like Bryant who I just hope keeps his job.

This was a great way to spend a coupla weeks. Good luck to all you SHARKS!!!!

There's always immunity in wk 7. You'll be surprised...if you avoid injuries there will be teams worse off than you.

Looks like week 10 will be the biggest challenge with Rodgers sharing the same bye week as my trio of Saints (Pierre, Meachem, Moore). Other than that, no kicker week 4.

btw fellas, I'll be pimping the Spring Survivor Leagues tonight on the show...

Here's the rundown for tonight:

Christmas is here gang! Primetime NFL Draft coverage! What does all this mean? Rams fans where you at? You just landed your franchise QB! How do you feel?

Spiller, who many compare to Chris Johnson, goes to the Bills. Contrary to the Bills front office, Lynch has to be on the move, right? Spiller IS exlposive!

Is Romo in the Brees/Peyton/Rivers discussion now that they've added the weapon Dez Bryant? What does this do to Miles Austin's value?

Ryan Matthews becomes the top Running Back in this class now that he lands in San Diego. How high does he go in drafts this fall?

McDaniels takes DeMaryious Thomas over Dez Bryant. Well, he also took Tebow over Clausen...

As predicted, Jahvid Best crushes Kevin Smith's value and lands in Detroit. The trio of Stafford/Calvin/Best doesn't look too shabby. Might they surprise us all?

Dexter McCluster (RB) goes to KC at the start of day 2. What does this mean for Jamaal Charles? How will they use McCluster's killer speed?

Josh Freeman gets a BIG target in Arrellious Benn. We reviewed him a few weeks back. I like it!

Seattle does without a back in the draft (so far), and grabs Golden Tate. Might Joe McKnight be on Carrolls radar?

QBs: Clausen to the Panthers finally goes at pick 48 and Colt Mccoy is finally a BROWN at pick 85!

Running Backs: Gerhart to the Vikings, Ben Tate to the Texans or Hardesty to the Browns. I'll tell you who I like, who do you like?

WideOuts: Damian Williams to the Titans, Lafell to the Panthers, Shipley to the Bengals or Sanders to the Steelers. Any of these guys gonna cut it? I think the Titans found themselves something special here and don't sleep on Shipley.

The draft continues, talk about it with us! LIVE tonight at 11:00 EST.

Post Draft/Bye Week Announcemnet/Trades Edit:

Stinkin Ref

2.14 - Stinkin' Ref - Tom Brady, NE, QB5 (5)

8.14 - Stinkin' Ref - Matt Cassel, KC, QB24 (4)

No bye week issues. Like this pairing. McCluster nice addition for Cassel.

1.03 - Stinkin' Ref - Maurice Jones-Drew, JAX, RB3 (9)

5.03 - Stinkin' Ref - Jerome Harrison, Cle, RB24 (8)

10.14 - Stinkin' Ref - Willis McGahee, BAL, RB49 (8)

11.03 - Stinkin' Ref - Marshawn Lynch, BUF, RB51 (6)

19.03 - Stinkin' Ref - Jason Snelling, Atl, RB72 (8)

Pretty big bye week issue. Was really hoping Lynch would get traded and hopefully he still will with Spiller now on board. What happens there could make or break this group. No real early byes, so I will have a few to chose from for the first 7 weeks. I need to have a huge week 7 in this league to try and secure immunity.

4.14 - Stinkin' Ref - Hakeem Nicks, NYG, WR23 (8)

6.14 - Stinkin' Ref - Devin Aromashadu, CHI, WR35 (8)

7.03 - Stinkin' Ref - Julian Edelman, NE, WR37 (5)

9.03 - Stinkin' Ref - Mike Wallace, PIT, WR49 (5)

12.14 - Stinkin' Ref - Earl Bennett, CHI, WR73 (8)

18.14 - Stinkin' Ref - Damian Williams, TEN, WR90 (9)

20.14 - Stinkin' Ref - Greg Camarillo, Mia, WR106 (5)

Bye weeks again an issue. Will need a huge week 7 and pray for immunity. Hopefully the Sanders pick doesn't hurt Wallace much, although the Ben suspension will be more of an issue. Not crazy about this group, but a serviceable bunch and if Williams can perform early, it would be a big boost.

3.03 - Stinkin' Ref - Vernon Davis, SF, TE4 (9)

16.14 - Stinkin' Ref - Shawn Nelson, Buf, TE29 (6)

Bye weeks not an issue and I get 8 straight weeks of production out of VD. Has same bye week as MJD so that hurts.

13.03 - Stinkin' Ref - Indianapolis Colts, D/ST13 (7)

17.03 - Stinkin' Ref - Tampa Bay Bucs, D/ST30 (4)

No bye week issues. Indy went D heavy in the draft and Tampa added some help on that side of the ball as well.

15.03 - Stinkin' Ref - Robbie Gould, Chi, K14 (8)

14.14 - Stinkin' Ref - Sebastian Janikowski, Oak, K11 (10)

No bye week issues and both have pretty late byes. Solid guys, job security.

Overall: if I make it to week 7 it would be nice to have a good week and get immunity. I kind of like the mix on this team. My WR are young guns and a lot will depend on how they do. A Lynch trade and a breakout year from Wallace may be the key.

I guess Cooley and CJ sharing a bye isn't ideal, but no one else is off when half the league is off. Doubling up on Minny WRs didn't hurt as they are my only 4 four MIAs.
I'd really be liking this team if Rice wasn't MIA. Thank goodness I backed him up with Harvin. Tate and Thomas could be starting which is a good surprise. Don't know how I got Bradshaw and Williams that late.

Hoping for a short suspension for Roethlisberger
If McNabb is out week one, could be devastating. Really like a couple of mylate WR picks, but the RBs not so much.
