15.4 L. Betts, RB - WAS

I absolutely got crushed by bye weeks. Both QBs off together. 3 of 4 RBs gone inc. both starters. Was planning on only drafting 4 RBs but now that plan has changed. Better secure Betts before someone else does.

I have this eery feeling, we will be here a while... Pasquino, this is all your fault.
Oh.. until around 2:00 Eastern, I suspect.
:lmao: :lmao:I haven't "milked" any clocks in this draft and I've worked pretty hard to keep this thing moving, so yeah - I'm going to use most of my time OTC today until the schedule comes out. Only seems right to do -
If you don't understand why this is highly unethical, then I'm glad I don't play in any money leagues with you.

No, translation - you're one of the first to complain when people take too long for their picks, but you held up the draft today to maximize your own advantage. This draft is the first PDSL I can remember that's in any conceivable danger of going past the NFL draft. I got my picks in last night because I knew renesauz was online. It was late and I was tired but I tried to get them in so we could keep this thing moving. He picked last night, too. Then we lost yet another day because you wanted to milk the clock for your own advantage. I understand you didn't hide it. It's not like you were being sneaky. We just seem to disagree on the purpose of the clock. I think that the reason we have a clock is because people have real lives and jobs. You seem to think that the purpose of the clock is to penalize people who are late with picks and to maximize your own advantage. I don't like it when people play that way. It's unethical. I put a poll up in the shark pool, making sure not to reference names or even mention the fact that it was at this board or one of the PDSLs. If it turns out other people feel that this is a highly ethical thing you did, then I'll gladly retract my statement.

I'll gladly put up my average time in this draft against anyone else's.I've also covered several people here with PMs to move this draft along - which has been the slowest of all the PDSLs.Since I knew I was going to be OTC today for a second defense, I thought it would be wise to do exactly what I did and I'd do it again. Several teams will have 6 picks with knowledge of the schedule, but I should only have 5? Dude, get real.

I could have had seven. So could renesauz. It's probably because we're not as well informed as you, though. That's the only reason we didn't milk the clock. As someone who picks at the start of the final round, maybe I should max out my clock the rest of the way to delay this thing until the NFL draft, then wait for my makeup picks until I know where the remaining rookies land. It'd be really advantageous for me to take advantage of the "missed pick - can make up at any time" rule, as long as I can stretch the draft out that long. And since I've made my picks quickly this draft, I can take solace in the fact that I'm only wasting other people's time for my own advantage.

The funny thing is, you're one of the worst whiners about people being slow with their picks when they have real life issues they're dealing with. But when you delay the rest of the league so you can have more information for your picks, you use the :lmao: smiley because you're just having silly fun. That's completely backwards.

Interesting...I figured this was going to come to a head. I should have halted the draft last nite after fred's 15.16 pick. To that end, if either fred or rene want to change a pick in rd 16 I'll give them until noon tomorrow to do so but they can only take someone who's currently available.

I don't think Jeff did anything unethical. If the music had stopped on me, my plan was to tell Twilight and those after me that I was waving my clock and to go ahead and pick if they wanted. The schedule made a huge impact on my pick.

Complete :construction: here and I'm not going to let you get away with it.Show me when and where I have been on anyone's case because they didn't pick due to life issues.I'll gladly let anyone else I've ever drafted with here and I've covered / posted a pick for them speak about whether I've got their backs or not. You're speaking out of your ### and you should quit while you're behind.

As my joke above will indicate, I completely expected whomever was on the clock today to wait. I never considered whether it was unethical or not, but I can understand where someone would believe that.

Guys...let's just move on. It was my bad as commish for not addressing something in advance that I knew might be an issue. I've rectified the problem and will address it ahead of time in future years.

:goodposting: I don't have any real issues with this. Let's just consider it a lesson learned for future drafts. While Fred is right about the advantage being "unfair", I also firmly believe that said advantage is badly overstated....especially at this stage of the draft.EX: I'm screwed at WR, with my top three all on a week 8 bye...BUT, being at this turn, I felt that I had to take both of my PK's. Had I known the byes, I still would have taken two PK's, and maybe even the same two I took...because of the general point we're at in the draft.

Good idea man. I see BF's point of view, but I side with Jeff on this one. I would have waited myself today, I'm 100% certain of that, although I am guilty of getting on BF in the past for taking too much time, and he quickly reminded me that real life is still going on. (this was a few years ago and I still remember). I think back to his frustration that day and now that I'm in the same shoes (checking in when I can, busy times) I can sympathize more, although those of us with busy lives have to remember that if we're signing up for these drafts, that it takes a certain level of dedication and consideration for others playing. Seems like this draft, people just signed up and didn't really give it the effort it needs to get through. With that said, I still think we finish before the draft.

To be honest, until the last few days I thought our pace was just fine. Not blazing, but certainly adequate. WE should be done more then a week before the draft.

meanwhile, who's next and how much clock do they have left?
Radballs. With the clock off midnight to 8 AM EST, he has until 9:45 EST to make his pick.ETA: With all the extra crap in this thread today, he might well have missed that he's up.

I'm assuming after all that crap we'll be rolling along as per the usual. :towelwave:

so I sent a PM to HTF, so he can post my pick when he posts his, although i'm half tempted to just post it since, shock of shocks, i'm taking a kicker or a defense.

I'll post this here rather than that biased poll, but your spin is way off in that thread. My last pick that night was NOT at 5:40PM, it was later in the evening after dinner with the family, putting the kids to bed, and then watching a show with my wife. I picked somewhere around 10 or 11pm. For someone who makes comments about "real life getting in the way", pardon me for walking away from the FBG Boards for an evening. Next time I'll ask for your permission.Believe what you want about the ethics here, but for a draft that we'll all be referring to for the next 8 months, not drafting for the best interests of your team is just dumb, free league or not. This league is allegedly about bragging rights, so I'm in a no win situation. I knew my pick was up that morning, but I chose to wait. The schedule directly impacts my pick, which was going to be my second defense regardless. Now I have the chance to see the schedule, which does matter, but I'm not supposed to look or wait?Like many others here, I wouldn't have begrudged ANYONE who wanted to wait to see their schedule - YET DIDN'T TIME OUT. Did I know when the schedule was coming out before Monday? No. Despite your spin in your biased posts and poll, very few people even believe it is unethical - and that's with the wrong facts (implying I took 21 hours to pick? Please.....) Believe what you want guy, retract or don't - I'm done with you.

Okay, I'll take a stab here...

15.10 Darrell Jackson, WR81 Free Agent (soon to be Denver Broncos)

pm'ing

at wr81, I think he's more than worth the risk.

Over half the voters there said it was unethical. The few who posted that it was ethical said that, while it was legal and probably ethical, the commish wouldn't be making any friends. Yes, you knew when the schedule came out on Monday. That's the day that you started delaying the draft so you could make your pick.

* At 3PM on Monday, you posted that the bye weeks were coming out on Tuesday. Link.

* At 5:40 on Monday, Bass picked. You then waited over six hours to make that pick. That's a pretty long stretch, but more than forgivable.

* You then took over 14 to make your next pick, even posting that you planned on waiting until the schedule came out.

In total, you definitely took the 14 hours, and it sure seems like you held the draft up for 21 total hours, to make sure it was your turn to pick when the bye week info came out. It might be legal within the rules, but it was legal in the other four leagues going on right now, and not one of them had someone take an abnormal amount of time to make their pick on Tuesday.

Let me ask you this - the first thing Bass did when he saw this was offer for me and renesauz to remake our picks. Neither of us opted to do so because it wasn't that big a deal. You were clearly very concerned about the fact that other people might have the advantage of seeing the schedule for seven picks instead of six or whatever you said. Why didn't you say, hey guys, let's put the draft on hold at the end of this round? Or when you were delaying the draft on Tuesday, why didn't you offer the same thing Bass did? Why is it that the first thing you said to me when I mentioned it was that I was just bitter that I hadn't thought of it? The reason is, you were only worried about your own advantage, not a level playing field.

That's fine. That's how you play. I just don't think that's very ethical, and I wouldn't want to play in a money league with you because I'd constantly have to worry about you finding things that are technically within the rules.

I don't care if you want to take your full eight hours every pick. I don't care if you time out. It's a spring league for no money. Which is why I was surprised to see you do something like this. It's like that kid who plays full tackle when everyone else is playing two hand touch. At some point, hopefully you'll grow out of that. In the meantime, people don't really want to play football with you anymore.

:lmao: Might want to count again there guy, and like I said your inaccuracy in the first post makes it extremely biased.

So apparently I'm not allowed to sleep, eh? Thanks.

I check this thread several times a day, but believe it or not I do like to take some time away so that I don't get frustrated by petty discussions like this.

It's unfortunate that my turn came up on this draw and it was a pick that had bye week implications. Should I have conferred with BNB or Twilight? Probably. This sort of came up last year, but the schedule was pushed back (like last year) and we didn't deal with it then.

Hindsight is 20/20, and perhaps that is what I should have done. It still doesn't change that I would still wait.I probably should have made mention of my decision at some point (not sure I did) but TL and FUBAR certainly saw that as a possibility.
