Peaky Blinders -BBC Miniseries (1 Viewer)

Terrific series.  My daughter is the Princess of Netflix.  Finds every great show before it becomes big.  Got me hooked on this one..

How long did it take you folks to get into the show? I started episode one twice (about 3 months apart) and both times I shut it down before it was over.

WOW

Finished Season 3 last night - one of the better season finales I've ever seen - until the last 2 minutes. Did not expect that - WTF ?!

Tom Hardy as Alfie the Rabbi gangster is just fantastic - he does not get enough screen time imo. Just wow.

Happy to hear there will be a season 4 & 5 - but when will that happen? 2017? ugh
Tom Hardy is brilliant in everything he does. Rarely gets mentioned with the great actors but should.

I think it hooked me right away.  I'd give it a few episodes at least before you write it off.  It is great television IMO.

Season 3 started a little slow.  It's still not clear to the viewer even at this point what his long game is.  He has stacks of cash which he doesn't even protect all that much, had a hot wife, and a race track and a nice pad.  I watched this awhile back on the BBC torrents so I assume it's just now airing here?  Have we gotten past the point where spoilers are an issue for S3?

2 additional seasons?  I feel like BBC shows tend to stretch things out a bit too much.

If you really like this show I would certainly watch Poldark.  It's very much on this level, if not above it.

3 seasons later and I still use CC.
I literally use it for any movie/show I watch.

It's amazing how much you miss when someone whispers something or something said during a fight or argument or maybe I'm just going deaf

When you first start watching it, having the closed captioning on helps. Then, after a while, we seemed to be able to understand them better. The accents are pretty heavy and they do use quite a bit of slang.
Perhaps, priest Hughes can translate for you??

I really like hardy.   He was in a pretty good movie called the drop with James Gandolfini in one of his last roles. Was on hbo about a year ago, not sure if still available as I don't have cable currently.

Watched another movie with him in it yesterday that is available on Netflix called Bronson...kind of a weird biography movie about England's most violent prisoner.   Probably not for everyone but I watched the entire movie and I bail on quite a few netflix movies.

Halfway through after starting these on Netflix about two weeks ago. Wife wanted to bail after first few episodes, but she's now glad we stuck with it. I assumed more nudity, for some reason, so that's my only knock so far.

Fantastic show.  Mid-way through Season 3 and can't wait to get the kids in bed the past few nights to get some episodes in.

One benefit of being off work and being sick is that I’ve already watched the first 2 episodes, no disappointment so far :excited:

So Netflix didn't get this going until yesterday?  I won't say what I was going to say then.  Watched S4 over the past 10 days on the firestick.

Easily one of the best shows I never hear anyone talk about.  Good to hear there will be a S5.  Is there any specific explanation why they do 6 episodes per season?  I want more!

Not really a fan of Brody but looking forward to the new season.
Brody was ok.  I liked what they did with Aidan Gillen.

Agree with others that say Tom Hardy (Alfie) is great.  The scene with him and Brody in the last episode was all time awesome.

Love this show ans season four is not disappointing.

Did they change the actress for Ada? She looks way different this season.

Its a BBC show. Pretty normal.

IMBD says its the same actress but something seems very different to me. I recall her being kind of odd looking but I was very attracted to her, now not so much.

Ugh, Brody is so bad. Even worse than I thought he would be.

Still enjoying it but it's hard to get past him.

Watched episode 1 and was gonna say the only thing I don't like about this show is

they never kill off anyone important

The first scene he was in I was like...who is that! When he came back I figured it out. Between The Wire, GoT and this, he seems to be typecast.
I just noticed his name in the credits of king Arthur so I think you're on to something.
