How are you?

If you were going to a concert at The Bowery Ballroom, where would you say would be your most cost-effective place to stay?

There is a Best Western on or near Bowery... that or just look for groupon or something
I've stayed there (The Bowery Hanbee) on a Hotwire deal. The rooms are nice and the location between Chinatown and the LES is excellent.

We usually Hotwire a hotel in northern NJ that's close to a train station. You get a lot more for your money if you're willing to forego staying in Manhattan, and you can avoid paying for parking. We take NJ Transit and/or PATH into the city, then subways.

Not a bad idea since parking here is the suck if you are driving. But a real hassle if you're hammered post-show. So worth it to stumble around the LES bar hopping, knowing you have a short walk back to your room.

Brooklyn IMO. Pay a little more than NJ but you'll actually be somewhere fun and interesting.

Why stay in Brooklyn when you can stay in the heart of Soho or the LES for the same price? Dude wants to walk to BB.

My place.
Perfect. There will be two of us.
yeah. you're not invited. but that's where I'd stay to see something at the BB

good luck- some good info in here. most of the ones we usually recommend have been thrown out there- and it's always a crapshoot, even with the supposed "bargain" hotels. some weekends they're through the roof, others even the boutique hotels are affordable... even beyond the obvious holiday weekends- makes no sense at all. just keep checking in through fare websites. I'll third the off-soho suites... although depending on where your room is (facing street or not), it can be really loud.

eta: I never know what they call it anymore (Surface Hotel, Hotel on Rivington, ), but they run fares that dip down below 200 as well- and it's a nice place to stay.
