Apparently I'm on the wrong side of everything regarding pets.

I'd like to see how far off base I really am.

Poll is flawed.

There's a difference in equating pets to children and saying that pets are part of the family.

They should be treated as part of the family. They should not be on par with children.

Keep it in the same context:

"Goal is a male Lab and female GR, spayed and neutered and living exclusively outside. We live in Southwest Missouri and both dogs should be fine with the weather. It can get up to 100 degrees in the Summer and down to zero in the Winter, but only for very brief times. Most of the year it is quite mild."

that would mess up his whole strawman though

Beyond that there are many people that do not care to hear about other people's pets or their children.

My pit bull mix is lying on my feet right now. I bet she would be happier being locked outside.
I bet she would be happier eating a steak at the table every night and pissing all over the house too, so you probably let that happen as well.

Have you actually been around any people that own a dog and keep it inside?
My stepmom's dog lived inside before it died. It was a toy-sized dog. I have one friend with a Husky that is inside sometimes, but I'm not sure if it actually sleeps inside or not.

So you currently only know ONE person with a dog?

This might seriously be part of the problem. It seems you may have no understanding of what it's like to live with a dog inside of a house. Are you picturing some unruly, dirty, uncontrollable creature wreaking havoc?

That can't be further from the truth. Well-trained dogs are actually more behaved and cleaner than kids.

No, I just thought of 2 more.

One has 3 dogs that all live inside and the other has two dogs that spend most time outside, but do come inside some.

This seems pretty accurate.

I haven't been around very many indoor dogs.

I don't think so. I think they just come in and play with the kids some, but they pretty much keep them in the back yard whenever we are over there.

We have a couple of sleepovers a month. It's swell.

Not voting because the first response is all you need to know to understand why you're wrong.
Care to elaborate?

Because I've literally had people say, "they are like my children", "would you leave your kids outside?", & "I'd put my kids outside and let the dogs stay inside".

Apparently in many people's mind they are equivalent.

Unless of course you are trying to say that it is so obvious that dogs are like children that it shouldn't even be asked at which point I'm just going to have to plead ignorance.

There is a difference between being neglected and being spoiled. Outdoor 24/7 = neglected. Steak + no training = spoiled.

I haven't decided if this is a fishing trip or not - but I wouldn't get a Lab or GR if you are a neat freak. They aren't dirty - but they can and will shed quite a bit. Poodle mixes (Goldendoodle, Labradoodle) generally have the same temperament as the Lab/GR but don't have all the shedding. That said, if you are just going to keep them outdoors all the time I wouldn't get any dog.

why do people respond to jayrod's :fishing: ?

he hates animals, or at least pretends to. not much else to see here. been a pattern with him for awhile now.

HFS this is crazy.

Not fishing, just a different opinion. But apparently that's not allowed around here.

you post about murdering cats and never letting dogs inside.

clear as day.

never seen you show any compassion towards an animal in any of your posts here.

Jayrod, not sure what you reporting me is going to do. Your posting history here on these topics is available for all to see.

How much does a grenade covered in catnip cost?

opinions are great.

mistreating animals, not so much.

Main reason I hate it when people leave their dogs outside is I'll pass 5-20 dogs on my runs or rides, outside without a fence. Most are friendly, but when you're on a bike it doesn't matter if they dog wants to bite you or lick your hand.

Dog are like children in the sense that you put their needs over your own. But you would never put a dog needs over a child's.

Killing cats was a joke. Not letting my dogs in the house I thought was a normal thing.

Still doesn't mean I hate animals. Keep up the lies, though.

Do you really mean needs over your own. Like you would go without food, water or shelter for your dog?

you should avoid jokes if you think that was funny.

your jokess are about as funny as the Holocaust.
I've seen people make jokes about the real deaths of people in here without a single warning or second thought.

I'm sorry I care more for people than pets.
