PEYTON HILLIS TO THE PLAYOFF RESCUE! (1 Viewer)

Am I crazy to think that Hillis will FINALLY pay a dividend for his owners in the semi's this week? He is at Arizona, which allows 117.2 yds and a TD per week on the ground. Hardesty's injuries have caused him to go from full participation in practice Wednesday to limited on Thurs and Fri. The Browns beat writer said it is clear Hardesty will not be 100% this year and that HE would be inclined to keep him on the bench the rest of the season. The Browns front office reiterated this week that they know Hillis can do the job because he did it last year but they will see what happens to him the rest of the season and decide their outlook on him at that time. Hillis himself is playing for a contract, which brings out the best in all athletes. He seems to be fine from his hip and hammy injuries and was not listed on any injury report at all this week. He also got extra rest from his last game, which was on a Thursday.

There has been no buzz on him at all this week fantasy-wise, but I think he could have a very good game vs. AZ. I am putting him in a range of 75-125 yards and 1-2 TD's, plus I think he catches some passes from Seneca and pads his fantasy numbers that way also. Most rankings have him 30ish. I think he cracks the top 15.

I am starting him over Mendenhall unless I hear some new development between now and kickoff.

:X The Cleveland running back situation is now a full on committee according to the coaching staff. This will allow them to "evaluate" talent at the position the rest of the year.

My gut agrees with you -- I do think that this is a game that Hillis can be very productive against the Cards, even on the road and in a committee approach, and I think he's been itching to showcase his worth for another team to be on next year.

If I was more of a betting man, I'd put him at 100 combined and a TD: 15/75/1 and 3/25

My brain, however, is just not letting my body go there. This would be a pure swing for the fences and every piece of empirical evidence points to the facts that CLE has and should give Hardesty and Silent G situational carries of their own.

I just can't take the risk in the semis from a hunch.

I think they know what they have in the three of them. All 3 have ~100 touches, plus practice reps. Audition time is over. IMO it's more about what combination (or perhaps lack of combination) gives them the best chance to win this week.

I drafted Hillis in the 2nd round. I picked up Donald Brown and I am playing him instead this week. Donald freaking Brown.

I think everyone who drafted Hillis is the same boat, starting someone they either drafted for depth at RB 3/4 or plucked off the wire mid season. My option is equally/potentially more implausible: Marion Barber.

Exactly. I drafted Charles in the first and Hillis in the third, but Stewart and Murray have been starters for the majority of games. Now I'm left praying that Hillis can keep me going.

This Hillis is a bust this year and a bust for week 15! Dont waste your time! Start anyone else.
108 total yards and a TD. Surprised only one reception. He has given me a good chance to advance to the Super Bowl. It took awhile, but he stepped up at a good time.

This season was basically a waste, but Hillis has the talent to make a bid for Comeback Player of the Year (even in Cleveland). I'd love to see him go somewhere else, though.

I think Hillis will definitely get the lion's share of the touches as long as he stays healthy going forward. Question now is...now that he got me into the Super Bowl, dare I play him at Baltimore this week? He looked good, ran fast and hard, and is getting all the touches, but Baltimore's D at home is obviously a problem.

I guess it depends on what you options are and what you are going for. Hillis is a Marshawn Lynch type of fantasy player right now. He's guaranteed a lot of carries and any goal line looks, but his ypc is unlikely to sniff 5. So if you prefer a low risk guy, go with Hillis. He's unlikely to get less than 8 points. But it is hard to imagine him getting 2 TDs. Cleveland will be doing good to score 2 TDs as a team.

Can we truly be guaranteed that this will happen? Yes, he was the only RB for CLE last week. Is that a function of his health, or the fact that he was somewhat effective, or that the other backs (Silent G, Hardesty) were still dinged?I would love more insight as to whether CLE will be committing to him as the feature back from here on out, and not go back to the general rotation we've seen.

Hardesty and Ogbanaya are just not that good. Hardesty might be able to turn things around, but at this point Hillis is the most talented RB on the roster by far. FWIW, I only own Hillis in one league and he'll be on my bench in favor of Foster, Mathews, and M.Bush this week. So I'm not speaking out of my bias for Hillis. He is a plus player. The other guys are absolutely not. And if the Browns play to win the game, then Hillis will touch the ball 20+ times.

I can't figure out Shurmur at all.
No one can figure Shurmur out. Except the other 31 coaches.
Follow his actions, not generic press conference comments. When healthy, Hillis is their guy, especially since Hardesty is hurt and will not be 100% til next year. Its not that hard to read, actually. The only question is whether Hillis is a good play this week in Baltimore. Unless he gets reinjured, he will get the ball.
