Peyton Manning - DOLPHINS ? (1 Viewer)

Other reports said Manning wasn't considering the Dolphins because Marshall was there. Maybe moving him out to bring in Manning and whomever he wants as a free agent WR?

Trading Marshall frees up $10m in cap space...puts Miami at roughly $25m in cap space, guess they can clear the way out for Manning, Wayne, Clark, whatever else is needed.

Hard to believe the Dolphins traded their best WR for 2 3rd rd picks for the longshot of getting Manning who had a problem with Brandon marshall being on the team.

Really?

One would think they are only doing this if they knew they were signing Manning, Wayne, Clark, Saturday, Addai, and whatever other spare parts form Indy they can find.

I don't see it all like that MOP.This smells like a full rebuild type of move.Just can't see Peyton Manning saying he'll sign with the Dolphins ONLY IF they trade the malcontent Marshall away first.

Why would Miami announce they are no longer interested in Matt Flynn ?

Even Manning must know that Wayne isn't the same WR he had all those years. Can't imagine Peyton would go to the Dolphins without big time weapons at his arsenal - he's only got a handful of years left.

But stranger things have happened...

Yeah, I guess I could see them making room for Wayne and Manning. But that just seems really odd to me. Bess is an ok receiver, but outside of Wayne (assuming they

sign him too), they don't have a lot of pass catchers there (Bush maybe out of the backfield).

Where are you seeing that? I haven't seen that anywhere.
Just announced minutes ago on 98.5 Sports Hub, Boston.

I could see this, but it's a huge gamble by Miami- I'd only make this move if I had Peyton and company with pen in hand ready to sign the deal.

This has Peyton written all over it. He meets with Philbin yesterday & today they move Marshall for two 3rd round picks?

Interesting.

They could still sign any number of WR in free agency that Manning would like to play with. Still a long shot but this could be just the beginning of pieces to suggest Miami is luring Peyton and letting him pick who he wants them to bring in.

because Regis Philbin knows he isnt any good.

I still think the Manning/Clark/Wayne trio makes a lot of sense for Miami. Most people want to live out their final days in FL, and there are some really nice retirement communities near South Beach.

That is a troubling sign in regards to Flynn.Unless, he wanted an absolute ####ton of money.
I agree, I thought with the Philbin connection, this would be done.Which also leads me to the Peyton option.Where does Flynn end up ?Cleveland, Seattle ?

Cleveland who's upset they lost out on RG3.

Seems more likely that Tannehill ends up in Miami than Manning.
This.
Would they sign Peyton, trade Moore and draft Tannehill and let him learn under Peyton since rookie contracts aren't as lucrative as they once were? Or is it now officially a no-no to draft a QB in the top half of the first round and let him marinate under the tutelage of a surefire HOF for a few seasons?
Seems like too little butter spread over too much bread.

Maybe I need to reread it. Title seems to say something the article does not.

Really, Miami makes sense. They played the Giants last year so they're the farthest away from them in the annual rotation. By the time they come back around, Peyton will probably retire. I think that means something to him.

For those Manning theorists, I'd be more inclined moving Marshall means bringing in-prime Garcon.
Why not bring in Wayne, Garcon, and Clark? Get the gang back together. They will essentially have the old Colts offense with a better o-line and better defense than it would have had in Indy.

That's bullspit because Miami went out and hired the OC from the team he was on, brought in more pieces from Green Bay, in fact everything they have been doing revolves around a copycat of GB in many ways so I would be shocked if they announced they had no intentions of signing him...he won't have the same parade if he does sign in Miami but I imagine Flynn is very interested in the Phins. Miami was out of the running Monday Morning and was meeting with Manning by Monday afternoon for 6 hours...you just cannot believe folks even the Schefters of the World don't have this totally nailed yet.

Yeah, I just did a quick google search trying to find where Miami said they are out of the Flynn sweepstakes. News is flying fast, I'm just trying to keep up.

Me too. I had read the title and linked it elsewhere. Then read the story and started wondering how they got that title based on what was in the article.

This has to be what they're doing. Moore and Fasano go to backup roles or are traded away. Pouncey moves to G. Thomas and Bush play the Addai/Rhodes roles and they sign Manning, Wayne, Garcon, and Dallas Clark with the 25-30 million in cap space they now have.
