Peyton without weapons (1 Viewer)

I traded for Peyton Manning in order to get some steadiness and perhaps a little more in the QB position. last week, that didn't happen, and I lost because of it. I don't really care how he does in the next two weeks (as I'm already in the playoffs), except I'd like to see him regain a bit of the old swagger, and this really depends on his supporting cast.

The games, of course, that I care about are:

Week 14 at Baltimore

Week 15 at Oakland

Week 16 Houston

.

When I looked at this schedule 2 weeks ago, I was very satisfied. If anything, I figured Manning wouldn't kill me in the playoffs, and he might actually exceed expectations. Now I'm not so sure; he's really been struggling of late. Perhaps the return of Harrison (supposed to be back by week 13) will make the difference. Perhaps adjusting to his current WR corps will do the trick. I have no idea. THose of you who have watched Manning closely for a longer time than I have, please give chime in and telll me if the last few games are an abberation or a portent of more bad days to come...

I'm getting nervous too. In fact I may actually bench him this week. Sure he'll be on a national stage and we all know he loves the spotlight (e.g. all the commercials) but Schaub against Cleveland looks like the better play. I can't believe I actually typed that!?!? It is almost official. I may have a QB controversy on my squad and one of the QB's is Peyton Manning....

No weapons??? 1 above avg wr(or great), 1 above avg te, and 1 rb that can run/catch/block, a great oline...Damn i feel for the guy i really do.

Manning has been a bastion of consistency even without Harrison. I have to concede that this recent game is unsettling; however, given the fact that Harrison has been a non-factor since prior to the bye, and Manning has done reasonably well in spite of that, I don't see a reason to be too alarmed.

 That great OL is dinged up (including the all-important LT position), their WR3 is also dinged......and what's left barely deserves roster spots. I can't believe how long they have kept Agnes Moorehead on the team ("Bill Polian: super genius").Still, I agree that even given all that, it shouldn't be THIS ugly.

Id be more nervous about NE having the Niners' 2nd overall draft pick if I were you. Get those priorites straight.

No weapons ?

Truth is he is missing one weapon, and he is struggling.

This should put to rest the "who is the better QB debate,

Tom Brady or Peyton Manning.

Brady did more with less last season (Gaffney, Caldwell, Troy Brown),

than Manning is doing this season with (Wayne, Morehead, Clark).

I won't even bother w/the Brady vs Manning bit yet again, which is unfortunately hardly put to rest.....but again while I agree Manning should be doing better, watch those games.....no time in the pocket, dropped passes, bad routes, etc etc etc. It's not just that the team isn't in top shape; it's a freakin mess.

The only thing put to rest is the idea of the Colts repeating. It's a question of who does NE beat.

Why they are struggling:

1. Charlie Johnson is flat-out terrible at LT.

2. Aaron Moorehead is flat-out terrible at WR. Even Craphonso Thorpe is better than he is.

3. Dallas Clark hasn't been himself since he got brutally hit in the Tampa game.

If Ugoh and Gonzalez get in the lineup soon, I think the Colts will perform much better.

You're taking the left tackle out of the equation. Matt Light >>>>>>>>>>>>> Charlie Johnson. A lamp post is better than Charlie Johnson. With Ugoh in the lineup, the offense has been fine even without Harrison (see the Tampa game, and the 1st half of the Jax game with Ugoh in the lineup - and Harrison nothing more than a decoy). Then, Ugoh didn't play in the 2nd half of the Jax game, and Paul Spicer - who did nothing in the 1st half, Owned Charlie Johnson. In the Pats game - the Pats were too worried about the Colts passing game in the 1st half, and Addai made their offense look pretty good. Then, the Pats attacked Charlie Johnson - and the Colts offense went south. In the Chargers game - it is no coincidence that the Colts offense looked a lot better when Michael Toudouze replace Charlie Johnson in the 2nd half because of injury.Charlie Johnson played the entire Chiefs game - and Jared Allen OWNED him bad.I have to conclude that Charlie Johnson is probably the single biggest reason the Colts offense is struggling. It isn't the only reason (Aaron Moorehead is another reason - there are others, too - no one is blameless) - but I think it is the biggest.
