PFT ranks QBs (1 Viewer)

I'm not a fan of ripping other rankings. on another site - and I bet Joe and David aren't either.

But I did get a chuckle out of Romo's :loco:

"He's gotten more mileage out of five good games than Kramer got out the tank of gas in that Saab he was test-driving for Jerry"

What's so terrible about it? Contrary to popular belief, not following the herd does not automatically make something lousy.

The only ones that really seemed weird was Brees (should be about 5 spots higher), Young (24 is absurdly low) and Pennington (I see him about 8 spots lower).

I just read Pro Football Talk's qb rankings for the season. I think they pick them out of a hat. Just look at them and discuss.

I think they are very possible. They could have just been safe and do what eveyone else does for rankings "group think".
:) The chances that the QBs end up with the conventional thought is very low. Nice to see people break the trend every once in a while.

A couple of players I would rank a little higher or lower, but overall it's pretty well thought out. I think Losman will perform better than his #23 ranking, but he could go either way.

I'd like to know how they came to these predictions. If they simply mixed the names up for the sake of being different then that's nonsense.

The only ones I don't see happening are:

Grossman @ #9 - Hester won't help that much

Schaub @ #14 - He has one good receiver and AJ will be doubled up on all year.

Rivers @ #15 - With Gates & Tomlinson, any NFL QB could finish top 12 (and Rivers is good)

Romo @ #17 - Too many weapons to finish this low and Romo isn't that bad.

Young @ #24 - Most leagues still count rushing stats for QB's, right?

Leinert @ #21 - Boldin + Fitz + Edge + a smart QB > #21

Overall, though, I like some of their thoughts and they'll probably be dead on with some of these "unconvential" picks.

How does anyone come to their predictions? The reason for his ranking is stated . I don't agree with all of his calls but many are justified arguments:9. Grossman - a TON of targets and improved offense

10. Pennington - I think he may be more of a higher QB2 but can become a lower end QB1 with Coles and Cotchery and T Jones in the backfield this year

17. Romo - Be honest, you have NO CLUE how he'll play this year. Yu never even heard of this guy (if you live outside of Illinois) this time last year.

24. Young - This may be too low as he'd be borderline undraftabel in a 12 team league. BUT I don't think hes a QB1 as he has no WRs or running game behind him.

Everything else is plausible...
