Philly Receivers... Homers and those in the know (1 Viewer)

I was high on Curtis early on. Then Jason Wood made some excellent points about how Curtis will be learning a new offense and that Brown would be the definite #1 WR. I had Brown last year and was pleasantly surprised with his TD production. I figured he would be a solid WR to grab after the big WRs were gone and put up similar #s. Well WRs flew in my draft and I ended up drafting Brown as like the 18th WR off the board as my #1 WR. I was pretty happy with the pick and thought I got a solid if WR#1 although in the back of my mind I know Im going to have to upgrade soon enough. But this thread has scared the bejesus out of me with all the love Curtis is getting and all the hate for Brown.

Brown will be fine. I don't think he'll be top-20 WR fine, which is why I haven't rostered him in most leagues given his ADP. But in terms of helping the Eagles win games? No worries.

I have Brown with 60 catches for 1,000 yards and 9 TDs. That puts him at WR16 in my 07 rankings.

Has your opinion changed at all recently regarding Curtis? He's looked pretty good in the limited action so far and from what I've read from a couple messageboards numerous posters have said that he's looked good in camp. I think he's an absolute no brainer as a wr4....

I have him for 50 / 750 and 5 TDs; which puts him quite a ways off from a "no brainer" WR4 in my estimation.

How many fantasy points do I get for "helping the Eagles win games"? :lmao:

The way I see it, McNabb should throw for about 27 TDs conservatively speaking this year. Westbrook is good for about 6, LJ Smith about 4, Curtis 5, other receivers about 4. That leaves about 8 TDs left over for Brown. And thats if McNabb only throws 27 TDs. Last year before he got hurt he was on pace for well over 30 TD passes. Brown may not be a huge yardage guy but he is THE guy McNabb looks at in the red zone.

Two things I like about Brown:

1 - His production last year in the 4 games Stallworth missed; 5/106/0, 4/79/1, 6/121/2 (1 rush & 1 Rec), 4/77/1.

2 - He was the featured WR near the goal line last year.

One key point to remember, Kevin Curtis has been an excellent red zone WR in his career; somewhat counterintuitive to his size.

which is all the more reason why I'm surprised by your projections. He's got good speed, runs good routes, great hands, good red zone target, passing offense and a good but not great wr opposite him.ETA..I'm sure it's been noted before but in the 8 games that Curtis was a starter in St. Louis in '05 (the only time he's really been a starter) he went for 40 rec - 593 -5. I'm not a big extrapolation guy on limited data sets but those project to be some nice stats. He was also across from Holt and granted it was St. Louis but Philly is also a good passing offense.

Holt also was double teamed every down for the rams when curtis was there leaving him in single coverage. I dont think any WR on the eagles warrants constant double coverage.
