Who do you think will win this week's Patriots/Chargers game this Sunday in New England? I added before and after tapegate options, as that may change people's opinions. For example, I would have picked the Chargers, but I think the Patriots players are out to prove that they can win without any technological assistance and collectively are going to be out to make a statement that they won their titles based on talent and not by cheating. (I know we could debate that part all day, but that's not the point here.)

I voted SD both times. San Diego has just as much to prove after losing last year's playoff game. The bigger variable here is Antonio Gates' health. With a healthy Gates, SD wins with or without Videogate.

I voted the other way - I'll need to see them win without cheating before I believe they can. When the Chargers and Merriman Knock Brady to the turf and the Blitzes actually work, they should Yell "THANKS MANGINI!!!!!"

Before the tape I predicted in another thread early in the week Patriots 24, Chargers 21.

I truely feel this is a distraction for the coaching staff. I realize if any group of professionals can overcome this, it would be the Patriots but I really feel that these two teams are very close in ability and a distraction of this magnitude will have some affect on the game.

I'm now picking Bolts 24, Pats 21

:lmao: So you think they decrypted the plays on the fly to use against the team they were playing real time.

WOW.

They could have used the info to make halftime adjustments very easily.

Too bad the tape was taken before half-time.

Before or After this game will not even be close.. Chargers Roll in this one easy. Every one will be shocked after this one.

I think it's funny there is a 33% change in who we as a whole think will win this game because of tapegate.

Pats X2 - They break out Binoculars and do it the old fashioned way.

I voted Chargers x 2.
Me too. The Pats D is good, but they can't stop LT. The Chargers' D is flat out mean and pissed off about last year. Brady won't have the time he did last week to find the open guys. The Chargers have been waiting for this game since the end of the last one and of all the defenses in the league, even the Bears, the Charger's D is the one I want to piss off the least. And the league's best player has thought about it with every step he takes in training since then. I don't think emotionally the Pats have the same motivation for this game as the Chargers do.

Absolutely, but I am not going to post it here in this thread, look up my posts in previous threads. No reason to doggedly tape NFC opponents (look up the GB and Det incidents) unless there was an immediate use for it. Combined with mysterious RF problems while playing the Pats...absolutely they use it in game for an advantage

In this game, how many others was the tape not taken ?

Big homer Pats fan here, and I picked the Chargers in both. The Pats have one or two games every year against a playoff-caliber opponent who recently had their number* and I'd swear to God that this time will be different. Last year those games were the Denver and Indy home games. I think this year it's the Chargers. The refrain from most Pats fans is, "This time we're stopping LDT, now with Adalius Thomas, a healthy Bruschi, ready-to-make-the-Pro-Bowl-leap-this-year Wilfork and Warren on the DL and the always underrated backup Jarvis Green subbing in for Seymour." Then the game starts and LDT is still ripping off 5-6yds a pop and Pats fans start getting a "I can't believe this is happening again" feeling as LDT has always had great games against them.

God I hope I'm wrong.

* Yes, the Pats beat SD in January so saying the Chargers "have their number" might be laughable to some, but I think the more knowledgable Pats fans thank their lucky stars that Marty didn't run LDT over left tackle more last January.

tapegate? tapegate?!? ( say it like Mora's playoff rant)... how lame! does everything scandalous have to end in 'gate'..c'mon now..

stop the madness..

Chargers led most of the playoff game, last January...NE got a few breaks to win the game.

not onyl do the Pats want to prove that they don't need to use cameras to win,but the Chargers are also out to revenge

the Pats dancing on the Chargers logo after they won that playoff game last season..

I think the Chargers will be fired up just as much as the Pats will. The main difference is this:

NE still has Bellichick, while SD now has Norv Turner. advantage:NE.Annd, don't forget, Gates is doubtful..

so you have to like the Pats' chances.

I thought the Chargers would win before the videotape incident, and I think they will now. Unlike Cameron last year, I think Norv gives the Pats a heavy dose of LT, and I think San Diego has been focused on this game ever since it appeared on their schedule. And I think Seymour's absence will show more this week than it did against the Jets.

The Patriots will be playing harder than they ever have this weekend. If that is a good thing, they romp...

The fall-out from a loss and the resulting media blitz would be intolerable for the Patriots.

Are those the same chances that Portis will be on IR before he ever plays a down this year and that Betts is the better back?

I think the Pats win at home but wouldn't it be funny if the Chargers absolutely smoked them this weekend (which I don't believe will happen). All the talking heads would be making all kinds of assumptions that they can't win without cheating.

Mirror image, wow.

Who do you think will win the game AFTER tapegate?

Patriots [ 49 ] ** [42.61%]

Chargers [ 66 ] ** [57.39%]

Before--------The pats O line played pretty well against the juiced up SD linein the playoffs last year so one can assume they will play pretty well against them as well Sunday night. The Pats D is going to have to prove they can stop LT which they have not been able to do. If SD's O line handles the front 7 of NE it will be an interesting game because unless Eric Weddle can cover 3 guys simultaneously the Pats will score via the air. I believe it will be a close game with the Pats coming out on top.

After------If there has been an underlying resentment for Belichick in the locker room as some writers have speculated in the past than this incident should bring it to life. If the Pats fall on their face, then all you nay sayers can say I told you so. If not and they come away with a convincing hard fought win we can point to better coaching AND better players.

As a Pats fan I hate all that has transpired and am pissed at BB for bringing this on the team. That being said NE x 2 in a great game!!!!

Pats x2

The Pats beat them in the playoffs last year, and they now have a VERY IMPROVED team. This poll will not be a true reflection of what people think. It will be hater dominated. Be objective for once people.

Are you kidding me? How can you even say that with a straight face? :goodposting:
