Who do you think is in a better situation: Thomas or Ray Rice?I was just having some fun hackin' on you.
Seems like this is becoming a pattern with you, but by all means, have your fun.I've never been stalked before (well, at least not in the SP). Should be interesting.I was just having some fun hackin' on you.
I'm a big fan of both situations and players.I dont think Bush could ever be displaced in the NO offense - not so sure about McGahee.Who do you think is in a better situation: Thomas or Ray Rice?I was just having some fun hackin' on you.![]()

McClain serves a serious purpose because of Rice diminuitive size.But... if they decide to go with Rice at some point, it behooves them to have another capable running back in the fold, because McGahee may become an issue and then dealt/cut. So McClain is a positive sign for Rice in my estimation, provided Rice doesnt falter. How much of a threat is LaRon MacClain to Ray Rice's status as the heir apparent to McGahee? Regardless, seems like Pierre already has both Bush and Stecker (goal line) to contend with, even if Deuce is done. Do you think Rice will have value even if McGahee returns?
According to some of the comments from the T-P writers, they're just being really cautious with both Deuce and McKenzie. They said something to the effect that "deuce didn't have a good week in practice". fair enough.I don't think the fans could have handled Deuce going into the game - against the hated Bucs - and him re-injuring himself on the very first game of the year. It would have felt like last year - too deflating, demoralizing - all over again.Deuce will be itching to play next week. I expect him to get some playing time against a less imposing team.Meachem was inactive. Deuce and Mike Mekenzie did not start despite all three looking good during the preseason. Very strange to me that they would not be playing against the defending South division champions. There was not report of a digression in their rehab at all from what I see.
Would you rather have Thomas or Duece at this point?![]()
Don't know what is so funny, it was a serious question. I know Duece didn't play this week, but what about next and the rest of the year ?Would you rather have Thomas or Duece at this point?![]()
Thomas and its not even close - from my vantage point.

because sean payton is a poor man's belichek? Why the sudden change in RB with no warning or foreshadowing?? Duece #2 all along up until game time per all the FFL experts.
Sorry about that sherriff, its an "inside" joke on this very subject. And on topic, I think its quite possible that Deuce will be given a fair shot to perform.
He has earned his stripes and his keep. He is bigger then the others and more experienced.
He has performed at rushing levels previously that the other have not...
but I think he is done for the most part. I compared him to Rudi Johnson in the other thread.
I also think Pierre is a talented runner who will perform when given the opprotunity. Like yesterday.
Several people had Pierre above Deuce. The majority may have had it the other way, but I think they were "being safe" and just looking at a depth chart or coach speak... and not the situation and circumstances. Why the sudden change in RB with no warning or foreshadowing?? Not sure if it helps you at all, but I have a situation somewhat similar to yours. I picked up McAllister last year after his injury forced an owner to cut him. I always have an extra roster space for another RB.While deciding if I should keep him on my roster this year, I read a comment by Jeff Haseley suggesting to grab these two RBs and wait it out. One would provide a nice RB3 once the season wore on. So, I have McAllister, Thomas, and Stecker as my RB7, RB8, and RB9. If you have the space, pick Thomas off and see what happens. I don’t know what I am doing, but Jeff certainly does.I have Deuce as my 6th RB, don't know if I should ccut him and pickup ThomasSeveral people had Pierre above Deuce. This is a very fluid situation and difficult to predict. Thomas has played well in two games now. Deuce has done some great things but is getting old and obviously is not over his injury yet. Truly, the fact that he even made it back and played in preseason is surprising given his age and previous knee injuries. I suspect though that this season Deuce will be given another chance to win his job back when he is fully healthy, whether that is week 2 or week 4. I think when he gets his chance Deuce will do well. How long Deuce can stay healthy again is my biggest concern. My gut feeling is not long. I wouldn't trade Pierre for Deuce in a dynasty; in a redraft, it's a toss up.
5'11 and 215 looks good to me (not to mention he looks a little bigger to me than last year and wouldn't be surprised if he's really closer to 220)This is a very fluid situation and difficult to predict. I wouldn't trade Pierre for Deuce in a dynasty; in a redraft, it's a toss up.Deuce will probably get his chance. Personally, I don't think he'll do well enough to keep the job long; if he does, you still have to be concerned how long he stays healthy. I'd be very surprised if he's getting more than a few carries a game past week 8-10. Given that even if he stays healthy, and if he can still perform well, he's still up there in age and splitting carries with Bush; his keeper/dynasty value is very very low right now.
Thomas is definitely worth a flier, particularly in dynasty. He's a little small for a RB, but not out of reasonable range. He's performed very well thus far in the #2 spot. Being the complementary back to Reggie Bush on a pass-first Saints offense doesn't have the highest of upside, but he could end up as a very nice flex/bye-week filler. My main concern with Thomas is that if he does hold off Deuce, do they consider drafting a blue chip, bruising goal-line back in the draft next year? It's not unheard of for teams to trust in diamond-in-the-rough RBs (Ryan Grant, Earnest Graham), but since he isn't quite as complementary to Bush's style as Deuce was, I'm still not counting on him to be worth much past this year unless he continues to produce as well as he has in the two games we've seen him.
I agree. I have no idea what this other guy is talking about.gianmarco said:5'11 and 215 looks good to me (not to mention he looks a little bigger to me than last year and wouldn't be surprised if he's really closer to 220)LessThanZero said:This is a very fluid situation and difficult to predict. fixed. And the answer is yes.Drop Deuce for because he's a waiver wire type RB????
This is a good point. Stecker is a solid runner and is much more dependable when it comes to the the little things (blitz pickup and so on) than either Thomas or Bush.If Deuce can't play much this season, you'll probably see Stecker/Thomas splitting those carries 60/40.Thomas got a lot of time week 1 mostly because Stecker's injury. Thomas is a good player and probably should get more playing time, but I'd guess Steck will play more than him for the upcoming weeks.
I said a little small. I wasn't calling him Warrick Dunn or anything. It was also in the context of being a complementary back to Bush, ala Deuce, which was a pairing that really worked well for them. I don't see how that's remotely controversial.VVVI agree. Exactly. I'm not bashing him either. I picked him up as a flier, and have liked him for awhile now.Afro Samurai said:^
Pierre is certainly not what I would call a big back. He may be 215 but he's not built like it. Dude has some serious chicken legs.
That's not to bash him, because he runs like he's bigger than he actually is.
Really?? I never got the impression that Stecker was ahead of Thomas in the depth charts. Is there any link, or homer to verify this. This is a good point. Just going by what we saw during preseason. Stecker got a lot of his snaps with the first team offense while Pierre didn't come in until the second half. Also like I said, Stecker is excellent at pass pro, and that's kind of important when you're throwing it 40 times a game.HoTnickZ said:Really?? Thomas is still listed 4th on the depth chart at both NFL.com and the Saints website. Although NFL.com has Deuce as the RB1 and the Saints have Bush...Voice Of Reason said:Thomas got a lot of time week 1 mostly because Stecker's injury. So he looks smaller than he really is, but plays bigger than he looks? I guess he plays about what one would expect someone of his weight to then.^Pierre is certainly not what I would call a big back. He may be 215 but he's not built like it.
