Coach Sean Payton said he is optimistic that Pierre Thomas (ankle) will be able to play against the Panthers on Sunday.

Thomas sat out practice on Wednesday, so it would be very encouraging if he can at least put in a limited workout Thursday. We're still considering him very questionable.
