Pittsburgh options to watch the Super Bowl? (1 Viewer)

Have a meeting in Pittsburgh on Monday so I'll be flying into Pittsburgh Sunday morning. If it matters, we are staying at the Doubletree downtown at Bigelow Square. Willing to drive though. Looking for a cool place, great vibe, TV's, food, beer. Whatcha got? I saw a lot of recommendations for Fatheads for beer/food - is that a good place to watch games as well?Is Primanti Bros worth it? Saw it as #2 on Food Network today, and I love a good sammich. How far is it from my hotel?Appreciate the help!

Step #1 go to Fatheads. Step #2 thank me later. Food @Fatheads? I preferred the Philly cheesesteak wrap. You really can't go wrong. Huge portions. 40+ beers in tap. TVs all around. Get there EARLY!!!

Primanti's is within walking distance, Fathead's isn't....BUT you can't watch the game at Primanti's.

Fatheads is the call for food and beer selections but there's very limited bar space and it's always crowded no matter what time you're there. I would not plan on watching it there. I usually do the house party for the super bowl so couldn't really tell you what's a good bar. If I was you I'd do one of the following: North Shore. It's got a couple big club/bars including the tilted kilt(basically hooters), mcfaddens, Bettis grill 36, and maybe 2 others. They're in between the 2 stadiums, all close enough that you could get from one to another basically during a commercial break. Casino is within walking distance as well. South side. Bars on every street. Literally side by side. Don't like one place, you can go to the next one that's right next door. All bars are gonna be smaller than north shore but it will be jumping with people while north shore can be hit or miss on the crowds. There's a fatheads and primantis there that are basically across the street from each other.

If you can get a seat at the bar Piper's Pub on the South Side would be a wonderful place to watch the game. Great Irish/Scottish/British food and drink & a cool pub atmosphere. Get the Scotch Eggs as an appetizer. Bettis Grill 36 (Northside, between Heinz Field & PNC Park) would probably be fun place to watch the game.

Primanti Bros is definitely worth it.

I'm no expert on Pittsburgh (listen to the natives) but I can recommend, if you don't mind driving a few miles outside the city, the Sharp Edge Beer Emporium on St. Clair. It had decent food and a magnificent draft selection. There may be places closer to you that offer similar, I'm not sure, nor do I know how much of a beer geek you are. Not a huge place, so I don't know how crowded it would be for Super Bowl.

that Sharp Edge is very difficult to find. i would recommend instead, the newer Sharp Edge located downtown close to the convention center. it is not the best place to watch a game, however, as it is not a sports bar. Primanti's is also not a great place to watch the game. i would recommend the Rivers Casino. they have the biggest big screen TV i have ever seen plus it is a casino.

There are several Sharp Edge's in Pittsburgh now. The beer selection is outstanding but you would go broke drinking there outside of Happy Hour. The food in the South Hills locations are just so-so IMO. The one downtown is probably the best food but not so great to watch a game. The Rivers Casino is a great suggestion but the beer selection is MUCH better at Fat Heads, Pipers Pub and Sharp Edge.

I was there during Happy Hour - it was very uncrowded, but I had a great time. There was some big bar in Station Square that I went to as well.. don't remember the name of it, but I had 8 of the top 10 scores on sports tic-tac-trivia on their megatouch machine at one point. :banned:

<BaltimoreHomer>You can watch it from the couch like Big Ben and the rest of the Steelers!</BaltimoreHomer>

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Got to the hotel at noon, and even though the cabbie said it was too cold to walk and suggested I take a cab, felt I needed the calorie burn and walked a mile in the snow to get a Primanti Brother's fix. Had the pastrami. Now that's a HEAVY sandwich as I normally don't eat fries much, but some absolute perfect bites with the pastrami, coleslaw, just a bit of fries. Then went at 5:30 with my colleagues to Fatheads. Surprisingly easy to get a table, though I guess most people celebrate the SuperBowl at homes. Good beer, ginormous sandwiches (had the Sweet MB) and a good vibe. Char grilled wings were also awesome. TV situation was only OK, had 3 screens but no big screens and they didn't have the sound high enough. Still, great for the first half and then went back to the DoubleTree bar to watch the rest. Worked out perfect with the power failure.I think I'll need celery and carrots plus do Insanity for a month to work off what I ate today...
