Pittsburgh vs Tennessee (1 Viewer)

If Pitt loses to Tennessee and Oakland, two of the worst teams in the AFC for sure...I don't see how anyone can take them seriously as a potential SB team.
But that's just it. They're not a serious Super Bowl contender. Not without Polamalu and either Woodley or Harrison out. They've lost their last four road games and 5 of 6. Their past two road wins are 13-9 over KC and Cleveland.I'm not even blaming the injuries, as at least for Polamalu they are completely expected.I had hope as a Steeler fan following the bye, but even with the win on Sunday, the Polamalu injury was ominous.I'd love for them to prove me wrong, but this team has 8-8 written all over it now. I waited to see if they could get relatively healthy, but it's not happening. There is a lot of work to do overhauling the safety positions and linebackers before the Steelers can be a contender again. Probably 2014.
Honestly you can blame injuries. If they're healthy, I don't see them losing to either the Raiders or Titans.

On the bright side, only half the Pittsburgh Steelers lost to the Titans. The other half was back in the training room.

Pittsburgh sucks. If Ben would throw to his great receivers, it would of been a different story. A long td to Wallace early, and only throws to him 2 more times the whole game. Brown with 13 targets, with half of them being screens. Need to get their offense in gear.

Pitt sucks. This team needs some major work.
Todd Haley sucks with his bull#### playcalling. Bruce Arians is 1000x better.Wheres wallace and brown this entire game? Instead give it to Batch and Miller, yea thats a formula for winning....

Defense isn't the same anymore, especially without Head And Shoulders these days. O-Line is also awful.
O-Line did fine tonight. Not on them. They lack playmakers on defense. Seems like no matter how many they blitz with it's in slow motion. Can't wait to Tomlin's canned post game speech.

What I'm implying is that the same players keep getting injured, in particular on defense.Harrison missed last year early, then Woodley was out with a hamstring, and Polamalu, too. It's the same group. They can't stay healthy any more long term.

They were solid tonight, but Ben's been under a lot of pressure overall this season. Agreed about the defense, they obviously still have some players and good overall unit but no big plays or players that can take over a game like they had before.

They should have punted the ball instead of the 4th down or the FG attempt. There is no way you could have faith in this defense to hold them under 20-30 yards in a minute. Going to overtime wouldn't have been the worst option for them

The worst option was probably attempting the field goal, as it gave 8 yards of field position away. It's easy with hindsight, but going for it on 4th and 7 would have been my preference.

This belongs in the steelers thread btw - and i agree. We may have to get worse to get better or our young offensive stars may get wasted.Example - Pouncey gets hurts because the guard gets crushed INTO him. wtf - really?Ben is friggin ON FIRE w/ the WR/Heath - but we have to pass and RUN/PASS - no real running to speak of. MAYBE Brady and Bree's are better - and maybe the Mannings w/ protection are - and that's a stretch btw....but those are some thin maybe's and Ben does it no matter WHO is blocking which is a reality in the pass happy NFL. They want sacks and completions - not 5 yd runs. If we make the playoffs he is an easy MVP candidate.Haley is awesome - obvious. Ben could have driven the ball w/ NO line and I hope he has a job forever and realizes he is a HOF OC and a POS head coach. The DL needs help. We no longer have the dominant LB/SS players so weak pressure is exposing what is a very good but wrongly positioned secondary. The LeBeau zone blitz scheme is tired. We need a revamp as we don't fool anyone anymore. An again our fine young skill players at CB/S/nickel back get exposed. We lost that game on defense - Ben made MUCH w/ nothing. The press has me wanting to HATE him but on the field he simply does things that no one else does.

They should have punted. It was clear that both offenses could move the ball some - bury them and hope to get the toss in OT.

This is nonsense. Miller has been clutch. You must be a Brown and Wallace fantasy owner. When a team scores 23 and 31, they should win. Biggest gripe on offense is too many short FG. The defense is a sieve. No Polamalu, Ike Taylor looks like a shell of himself, can't stop the run, and no pass rush. It was so obvious they should have punted instead of trying a 54 yarder, so it had to be a lack of faith in the defense.

Steelers struggle on the road. This has been the case for some time now. No reason they should lose to Tenn and Oak. (2 horrible teams) This will probably end up costing Pittsburgh a playoff spot because their upcoming schedule doesn't look so good now with injuries.

@ Cinci (If they can't beat Tenn and Oak on the road, how they going to beat Cincy)

vs Wash (not that easy with RG3)

@ NYG (Should be a high scoring game, but if Eli and Giants play their game, they will win)

vs KC (not that easy with Charles)

Game plan seemed like hit em long early on to respect the long ball, then dink and dunk them the rest of the time, finish them off with run, run, run. It could have worked if they came through at the end but they couldn't get close enough for Suisham unfortunately, and all the injuries (including to Mendenhall) didn't help.

The Steelers are old and not that good. Just because the Steelers have been so good for so long does not mean that they will always be good.

Tomlin is way overrated as a coach, and this is coming from a huge steeler fan. Everyone on earth KNEW they should have punted there except for tomlin. Suisham NEVER made a fg beyond 52 yds, but no, tomlin thinks he has some magic in his leg to finally do it.

And it was a given that tennessee would drive the massive 15 or so yards that was needed to win the game against that sieve defense. Easily the most overrated defense in the league right now, but that loss falls on tomlin plain & simple. If you ever get a chance listen to one of his weekly news conferences, its painful and truly fake the way he talks.

There needs to be some wholesale changes from the top down. The drafting the last couple of years has been atrocious. Um hello LeBeau, everyone has figured out your defense.

QBs dont even get touched let alone sacked anymore, and without troy, it is magnified that much more. Ike Taylor couldnt cover himself with a blanket, i would throw his way every single play. If i as an opposing coach, i would spread the field and throw on EVERY single down.

I was very happy with that decision by the Steelers. Of course I'm a Bengals fan :) Especially when you consider that the Titans have an excellent kicker in Bironas with incredible range. You're taking a chance on a long-shot field goal and if it's missed the opponent only needs to gain about 20 yards to get that chance to win. Tomlin made the wrong call there.-QG

In defense of the FG. Suisham did make the 52 yarder, going the same direction 7 minutes earlier and had more than 2 yards to spare when he made that one. We know he doesn't have a strong leg but coming up short was not a way I thought he would misshttp://www.nfl.com/videos/pittsburgh-steelers/0ap1000000079543/Suisham-52-yd-FG
