Toomer could be a very nice play this week!
I see this type of comment alot on this board. Maybe I think of this wrong but what is the general consenus? I think that if Plax is out, that makes an average WR like Toomer a worse start. Plax is a much better WR and would draw coverage AWAY from Toomer, making Toomer's job easier. If Plax is not in the game, I think Toomer does worse, not better (see Boldin with Fitz out). Others seem to think with Plax out that means more targets for Toomer which will equal more production. Understand this thinking because there is more opportunity but I don't agree with it.

Amani Toomer vs. Houston: Plaxico Burress was downgraded to questionable with a back injury, leaving Toomer as the possible No. 1 wideout. Toomer has produced well in one contest this season, catching 12 passes for 137 yards and two scores in Week 2. The Texans rank as the league's eight-worst pass defense and have already allowed the league's third-most passing touchdowns (12

New York’s number-one WR Plaxico Burress (back spasms-questionable) missed practice the entire week and was downgraded from probable. “It’s hard to predict what’s going to happen with a back,” said head coach Tom Coughlin when asked about Burress’ status for Sunday. “I think yesterday he felt pretty good. He went ahead and tried to work and he just wasn’t able to do it.” Backup WR Tim Carter, who has received all of the first team practice reps this week in place of Burress, was upgraded on the PFS cheat chart this morning. Backup WR Sinorice Moss (quadriceps) is unofficially out for Sunday’s game against the Texans while WR David Tyree (ankle-probable) worked as the teams’ third receiver during Friday's practice

I don't think Plax is starting. This is an upgrade for Toomer, Shockey, and T. Carter.
I'm trying to figure out how much of an upgrade this is for Toomer. The last few weeks Toomer's targets have dropped off as Shockey has been more involved with the offense (had an ankle issue for a few weeks there) and also Plax has seen a ton of targets. Last 3 Weeks targets:Plax - 27Shockey - 21Toomer - 12Against Houston I see this as the Tiki Barber show (probably will get in the endzone at least once), and when/if they have to throw the ball I see Eli looking to Shockey. Also Toomer will probably draw better coverage (or will Shockey?)Disclaimer: Toomer owner who's debating whether or not to play him. I do know early in the season Eli looked his way a lot more and he produced some solid numbers...just hasn't been worth starting lately. Maybe this is the week??

Blogger-If Giants WR Plaxico Burress is unable to play on Sunday, WR Tim Carter would move into the starting lineup alongside Amani Toomer. Burress has missed practice all week and was downgraded to questionable on Friday. "We're going to miss him," Toomer said when asked about the possible absence of Burress, "but we're going to have to find a way to win the game."

ESPN's John Clayton reports Plaxico Burress is unlikely to play Sunday.

Burress is testing out his back in pre-game warmups and reportedly isn't doing well. Get him out of your fantasy lineup.

Tim Carter's gonna make some noise!finally
Only one ball to go around and Tiki, Shockey, and Toomer come first. (IMO). :)
TrueHe's fffffffast. He's got typical fast speed and then all of a sudden he puts it in another gear. I don't think they can cover him deep or at least easily. I was just reading last night, one author thought Toomer and Plax could get open deep on their safeties no prob. If they could, Carter definitely can. You may be right though if they respect Carter's speed. He's been in the NFL long enough to be a known but hasn't done much. Still if he can take some defenders deep Shockey and Tiki could have a great day playing underneath that. Absolutely agree there.I really hope Mike Sherrard errr Tim Carter has a good day today. He's a "playa" that with a little bit of confidence, he should be special.I sure hope Coughlin uses his "toys" in Moss and Carter and doesn't go with some vanilla O because Plax is out. Could be a fun day to watch that O

thanks for the update

Is the game at 415 or 1? Sunday Updates on FBG says it is a 4 pm game, but everywhere else says 1 pm.

I assume he is out.

1pm game.
Confusing as the Sunday Updates says this.Summary: ESPN's John Clayton reported live this morning that there was a "good chance" Giants WR Plaxico Burress would not play. He was reportedly trying to loosen up his back as Clayton spoke. Burress will try to warm up more before the game and a decision will be made about an hour prior to game time. Unfortunately, it's a 4 PM game so most lineups will have to be set well before then. At this point, use lots of caution with Burress.

The "Sunday Update" is wrong. 1 PM game.PS FWIW ESPN's PAY site is a total POS. Their most current info on this is from Fri. You have to have the "insider" to get today's info

Thanks my badJ

Plaxico Burress (back) is inactive for the Giants in Week 9.

Tim Carter will start in Plax's place. As expected, CB Sam Madison, WLB Brandon Short, WR Sinorice Moss, and DE Osi Umenyiora are also out.
