Oh, and more food for thought, this is what Pete Prisco, who does a local sports talk show has to say in general about the passing game:
http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/10278384That's where Dirk Koetter comes into play. The new offensive coordinator is considered an innovative, aggressive play-caller who likes to challenge down the field. As a college head coach at Boise State and Arizona State, he was cutting-edge, a coach who wasn't afraid to take chances -- which is just what the Jaguars need.
"I'm smiling from cheek-to-cheek because I have a guy who believes in the same things I believe in," said Jaguars quarterback Byron Leftwich this week during a break from training camp. "What more can I ask for?"
Watching the Jaguars practice, it's obvious that things have changed. The ball goes down the field much more than it did under coach Jack Del Rio's first two coordinators. That doesn't mean the Jaguars will move away from the run game. It's just that there will be many more chances down the field off of that run game.
