Player Spotlight: Joe Addai & Dominic Rhodes (1 Viewer)

Interesting thoughts on Addai so far. Yet it seems the most obvious has been missed. If Addai is not the man then was he drafted in the first round?IMO-Indy clearly did not feel comfortable with Rhodes as their RB. If they did they wouldn't have drafted a RB in the 1st round. They could've waited until later in the draft but they didn't. And there must be a reason for that. The only back they liked better was Maroney from what I've read. With that said, they have raved about what they've seen in him so far. He has handled himself quite well. He runs well. He blocks well. He catches well. He picks up the blitz well. How many first round RB's do teams keep on the bench? How many times has Indy found gold in their first round RB's in recent history with say Edge and Faulk? I'd say they have a good track record. My prediction for Addai: 240-1152-8 & 24-204-1 with Rhodes getting the back up duties.
It's beginning to come together for Addai. If he is indeed the feature RB now then my projections could hold up for rushing. But clearly he is going to catch more passes than I thought. And his YPC is over 5. Not too bad.

Very good point. Of the top 15 RBs in the AFC in rushing yardage (of which Addai is in), Addai has the best YPC at 5.1. Good stat to keep in mind.

why is it that when you own a guy and he meets/exceeds yours or others expectations you bump up 2+ similar threads on the guy from the preseason, and there is one this week that was started??

So basically we know exactly Vermeil about the Indy RB situation, except that most likely its going to be a 50/50 RBBC and we should all stay very far away from this mess from a fantasy perspective.
Who said it's going to be a RBBC? It's entirely possible that Rhodes starts the first several games while Addai slowly but surely comes on and starts the 2nd half of the season.
I see this scenario as more likely than an RBBC. I think if one guy is getting it done better than the other, that guy is going to get the vast majority of carries with the other getting a few here and there to spell the starter and keep the backup sharp. I believe that Addai will be the starter by week 8 and quite possibly earlier if all the fluff about him is to believed. Could be as early as week 4. With a bye week 6, week 7 seems like the latest I foresee Addai taking over as the starter in Indy
0% chance.Rhodes will be running like an Edge-2, Colts will be winning. Why bench him unexplicably in week 7?\

You logic no makin sense.

Have to admit I underestimated Addai, but Rhodes is still getting his carries.

And Addai still isnt the "sole" RB in Indy's Offense - he is just producing better when he gets the ball.

FWIW - I really hate when people bump up ancient threads to pat themselves on the back while pushing the the current topics down the list.........

I like to go back and see who's right and who's wrong. Particularly when I'm right!?!?! I also don't have any problem admitting when I totally missed the boat when someone does this to me. But bumping these old threads helps people to look at other board members and know who's got valid info and who doesn't. We had George Jefferson and his man love for Willie Green. JWWJDJDJD and his man love for Pinner, etc....

Think I wrote something about making your own decisions and then taking some personal responsibility for those decisions recently. If you didn't know that Willie Green and R2D2 were going to bust, well, maybe you should join one of my leagues..... ;) . I never cared who said they were going to be great, I never bought.People always wave a finger to blame when things go wrong but when things work out they are only too happy to step up and take the credit. All I know is no one was there when I drafted each of my teams, so if things didn't work out I don't need to go farther than my mirror to point fingers at whose to blame. As far as past history to predict future success - try charting the players instead of the posters in the forum. That or start paying more attention to evidence people present and not their assumptions or conclusions. No one has a crystal ball."Cept Joe that is.

Nice call.Definitely didn't think Rhodes would be so ineffective, given his history in Indy. Felt like Addai could come on strong later in the season, but also definitely did not foresee him being spoonfed carries so early and often. Really goes to show you how little faith this staff actually had in Rhodes to begin with.
