I find it intersting that the Chiefs have a lineman retire and there are people jumping off a cliff, yet the Seahawks lost a Pro Bowl lineman and not many people seem to think SA will fall dramatically. What's the difference?

Probably the fact that Seattle plays in a much weaker division, not to mention the weaker conference. That is just a guess on my part.

I totally agree DY. San Diego has a new QB and SEA lost a lineman as you mentioned yet its LJ and KC who are in such a quandry. LOL!!!

Tomlinson has always been a huge producer in SD, regardless of how good or bad his QB or O-Line play has been.

While I agree that he's been very productive, LT ranked 6th his first year and Brees was just plain bad at times. LT has also never ranked higher than 3rd, so it's a tough one to pinpoint.Bottom line for me is that if healthy all 3 of SA, LJ, and LT should be good for around 20 TD and the difference might be how many yards they get. I have a really hard time projecting any RB beyond 20 TD, as not many guys have gotten more than that in a season before (only 15 players have had 21+ TD in a season).

Responding to the recent, above posts, for LT2 to be adversely impacted by the presence of a new QB, that new QB would have to completely fall on his face.

I've seen enough evidence in recent seasons of a first year QB with more than one year in the same system come in and perform at a high level (See Tom Brady, Carson Palmer, Marc Bulger...hey, even Drew Brees). These guys weren't perfect, don't get me wrong, but they posed more than enough of a threat in the passing game to keep defenses honest.

Rivers is in a similar situation. Unlike Eli or Leftwich or Alex Smith (Berger is the exception), he is not coming into a hostile situation in just his rookie year and expected to run an offense. Heck, in Rivers case he has two full seasons in the Charger system along with the same coach, same personnel (save for Reche Caldwell  )

As for LJ, I don't believe the loss of Roaf alone would dramatically impact his performance, as the eveidence from last year showed KC was still productive running the ball. However, when you add in the loss of Vermeil, Saunders and Richarson, as Loomba just mentioned, it can't all bode well.

For my money, I'm sticking with LT2 as the #1 pick for all the reasons stated above. :2cents:
They also had another OL retire too. How can you replace that much and not suffer. I know LJ has a lot of talent I just don't see him as being the #1 RB anymore. All the success for the running back in KC over the last couple years has been the result of a good RB and a GREAT OL. Do people really believe a RB can really do great things without and offensive line? I don't care how talented you are, if your line is bad, you are going to struggle. The Chiefs offensive line currently is in shambles and people still expect LJ to get 2000 yards this year are dilusional IMHO.
Whoa whoa... slow down. The Chiefs line is far from in shambles. It wasn't Roaf and a bunch of schmucks. The interior line is still excellent with Shields, Weigmann and Waters. And they have some options at tackle.

It's no longer an elite group, but it's not a bad line by any stretch.
OK...OK, I may be reacting a little harshly but to say it won't affect LJ is CRAZY IMO. My question is this: If the cheifs had an "A" for their OL before this stuff happened, how would you grade them now? I'm not a big chiefs follower so I really have no opinion on the issue myself. But, being a Lions fan I can sure tell you how important a good offensive line is, and if we lost two starters, let alone an all pro Lineman :bag: .

I did downgrade SA this year to #3. Last year I had him #1. Now I am downgrading LJ to #3. I just think too many changes have happened for the chiefs at this point. I was always a little uneasy having him #1 (even though I did by quite a bit), but now I'm just seeing a big reduction in TD's. Between the loss of Roaf and the conservative coach I have a hard time seeing him getting 20+ TD's.

350 carries, 1520 yds, 14 TDs, 48 rec, 440 yds, 2 TDs
New projections w/o Roaf.
That is really close to what I have. Do you see that as his floor this year? I could still see him getting over 20TD's w/o Roaf.
I don't have any RB getting 20+ TDs this year and had LJ at 18 prior. So no, I don't see LJ getting it w/o Roaf. Could it happen? Of course. I'm not betting on it though. I would say his floor would be around 1450/10 rushing, 350/1 rec. Shelf at 1600/16 rushing, 450/2 rec.
