From a Badger Homer, take this for what it is worth.

OD played for a Barry Alverez coached team - far more conservative than Bret B. is now. I suspect OD, with his good hands and knowledge of the game would of put up far better numbers in college with BB as his head coach. Alverez always went with the blocking TE first - often a 3rd guard instead of a TE. Look what BB has done with a converted DE - Travis Beckem - 61 catches his first year in the postion and barely even played the first couple of games.

Having said that, I agree with the FGuy's view of the Texans. New, basically untested qb, limited offensive weapons, and an O line that is suspect. That leads to basically the same result as last year with Carr pitching the ball. Owens will basically be a #2TE. Dont take him too early

40 receptions, 380 yards recieving, 5 rcvng tds, 2 passes, no passing TD's.

- I think you will see at least one or two junk plays where OD ends up passing the ball. He is no starting NFL qb, but he has an arm good enough, with enough football knowledge to get off a good TE option pass. I mean, if your team sucks as bad as Houstons will, you might as well take the shot a couple of times.

I wont touch Owen Daniels. Hes another Bubba Franks TE IMO (strictly used in the red zone). And with Houston barely reaching the endzone I dont think he has much worth. He had one huge game last year that skewed his numbers with Sage Rosenfels and a bunch of other games with 1 or 2 catches.

32 rec, 380 yds, 5 tds

I'm a big Owen Daniels fan. He produced very solid numbers (not just aggregate numbers, but most importantly, per-play numbers as well) as a rookie at a position where rookies historically struggle to produce very solid numbers. While I think Houston's offense is going to hold him back, I think he's really going to turn a lot of heads this year in redraft, and is going to make a lot of dynasty owners ecstatic (because talent always wins out over situation in Dynasty). Most importantly, he's playing for a head coach (Kubiak) who, as an offensive coordinator, had a reputation for relying HEAVILY on his receiving TE. A standout talent in an offensive system that has historically emphasized his position? Sounds like a winner to me.

50/600/4

TEs develop a lot in the last part of the rookie year and into the second season. I would look for 45 catches 550 yds and 6 TDs

The Texans shoud be in a lot of passing situations. Their primary receiver should be doubled and the QB should be looking for a lifeline. Add in a favorable schedule for TE, a QB from a prior team with a strong TE use, and a team looking for a its second receiving option.

60/630/7

he is a good #2 TE....

out of the Tier made up of E Johnson, Graham, Daniels.... Daniels is the best...

Now if your think that you draft 2 of these guys in late rounds as a #1; your in for a serious headache

This is a year when the top tier TEs seem to far outshine the lower group. It seems to me that if you miss out on the top seven or so, there is a serious dropoff. However, Owen Daniels is one of the very few of the lower tier TEs that appears to give reason for a second look.

He came from a college where the TE is typically used as an extra offensive guard and he developed into a receiving threat. He totaled 34 catches for 352 yards and 5 TDs on the season. It has already been pointed out that his season totals are skewed by one huge game where he caught 9 passes for 99 yards and 2 TDs. Yes, it did skew his totals somehwat, but it also indicated that he has some big play potential also. I also have to admit that I am among the few that like the prospects for the Texan QB Matt Schaub and I definitely expect better performance than Carr delivered.

He is definitely not somebody that you need to draft early, but if somehow you get stymied and miss out on the top tier, you can do much worse than taking Owen Daniels very late.

Owen Daniels 52 catches 550 yards and 6 TDs
