Players " Tanking it " to get out of Cincy (1 Viewer)

I think some players are tanking it to get out of Cincy. I also see chad Johnson playing about 5 snaps before grabbing his shoulder and calling it a season. I think Willie Anderson can still play and his release certainly generated a ton of interest - perhaps I"m not alone in this theory. I mean Deltha O' Neal ( while never a favorite of mine ) was snapped up by the Pats in an instant.

First time I noticed this was with Carl Pickens back in the early-to-mid 90s. Then came Corey Dillon with his "I'd rather be flippin' burgers line."

Then Takeo Spikes.

Then the offseason of Chad Johnson.

And there have been others in between. Veteran punter Lee Johnson once described exactly what was wrong with the organization after a game back in about 1996 or so, and he was released the next day . . . thereby cementing his point.

It's a soul-crushing organization.

i'd have cut him too. he's a punter. football players should be able to do this, not punters.

Obviously you weren't in the Cincinnati area around the mid-90s. They were an embarrassment to the league and to the city.Regardless of whether punters should be seen and not heard from, Johnson was dead right in his analysis. The franchise exercised their right to cut ties with him and further embarrassed themselves in the process. They're used to it by now.
