Players to stash away in dynasty leagues (1 Viewer)

I am surprised to see Bryant Johnson name pop up twice in 10 posts. Why so high on Johnson other then he was a top drafted player, playing behind some good players in ARZ, and a contract year player. or is that it
IMO He's got the ability to be a solid #2 WR. Solid underneath and become much better over the top. Obviously he's got no shot to start in the desert.Contract year, in his prime, as well. He's a guy you can get as a WR7(?) right now and get WR3 (?) production possibly in the future.
I wouldn't be so sure. If Arizona is really going to become more run-oriented, I could easily see them being unable to justify keeping both Boldin and Fitz and sending one packing, in which case Bryant Johnson becomes a starter.I like some of the names mentioned so far, but am surprised no one has mentioned Patrick Crayton yet. Glenn and T.O. are 33 and 34, iirc. Romo is the future, but Glenn/T.O. are not. As good as Romo's looked, Dallas's starting WRs are going to have a lot of value for a long time. Get in on the ground floor rather than waiting for the price to rise.

Two of my favorite rookies from this class are Trent Edwards and Laurent Robinson. I drafted both guys in several leagues and am pretty pleased with the early returns. I'm not sure that either is really going to hit his stride this season, but I think both players represent good long-term investments given their modest price tags. Honestly, if someone offered me Brady Quinn for Trent Edwards I would probably pass. :goodposting: I'll be watching his next two games closely, although I won't read into it too much if he struggles.

And how about Marshawn Lynch? For all the ADP hype, I'm not hearing a peep about this guy. He doesn't have Peterson's speed, but he's looking like a top 15 NFL back. He runs low and runs HARD. You won't get him cheap and he obviously won't be on the waiver wire in any leagues, but he's still a solid player to add to your squad if you can pluck him from an owner who isn't starting him.

Mike Walker is another. Shame he went on IR this year. And let's not forget David Boston 2008 :goodposting:
Walker was consistently getting rave reviews in training camp. I have a couple issues with him though. In spite of all the hype, he just doesn't look great to me in his highlights. He looks okay, but I don't see any special qualities. Secondly, is the knee going to be a chronic thing? Is he another Terrance Murphy waiting to happen? There's a chance he'll become a player, but I'm not in buy mode on this one.

I actually own Crayton in a dynasty. While I still think he's worth stashing, he hasn't really taken advantage of his opportunity sans Glenn thus far.I don't see the Cards dealing either Fitz/Boldin. I find it less likely they'll pay Johnson (someone will give him a decent deal they won't match). When I say decent, I mean > what Bobby Wade got.

Drew Stanton in DET at QB.
So my growing concerns regarding Stanton are (I have him stashed on IR):1) We are all excited that he is studying at "Mike Martz U", but will Martz even be there next year given the coaching carousel that is the NFL?2) He reportedly wasn't all that impressive during OTA's in the first place. If he's on IR, is he allowed to practice with the team at all right now, or is he going to be behind a full year?TIA

I like several mentioned above, but two I like are Mike Walker, who played great in preseason, and Jason Hill, personal favorite.
I just added Walker, was able to put him on IR and not take up a roster spot. I really do not know much about him, do you think he will be worth keeping over a 3rd round rookie pick next year or a deeper depth player from this year?

Kellen Clemens. It is only a matter of time before he is starting - Chad will be on a short leash (regardless of how well he did last week). I would be surprised if he was not starting QB on opening day '08.

Want to know another guy you could get shockingly cheap right now? Julius Jones. Barber is a stud - and everyone knows it. In my dynasty league, I can't even give Julius Jones away. But keep in mind that he is an unrestricted free agent next year (Barber is a restricted free agent) and COULD find himself in a much better situation. Not a bad gamble considering he is still quite young and could be had very cheap right now...

Pierre Thomas
Just dropped A. Bradshaw and picked up Thomas. I really like Bradshaw but he has not had a single carry with Jacobs out, also Ward looking impressive and Jacobs coming back does help his chances. The Saints released Pittman, a 4th round pick they moved up in the draft for, to make room for Thomas. I think there is a chance that Thomas ends up filling in the role that Duece had, worth a shot for this year and the future.

This is my feeling as well, and is obviously pure speculation. Fitzgerald will come at a much heftier pricetag than Johnson. Johnson doesn't have everything that Fitzgerald has, but he's a capable NFL WR and the price difference in signing Johnson to play alongside Boldin is significantly less that it would be to retain Fitzgerald. I know it's not Madden or fantasy leagues, but good character guys with top-level talent like Fitzgerald are valuable commodities and 'Zona could potentially move him, which would significantly increase Johnson's value.I see it as a win/win getting Johnson on your dynasty team roster. Either he finds his way onto a team in need of a WR and can produce there, or he stays in Zona and plays opposide Boldin.
