Players you will avoid next year (1 Viewer)

Dustin Keller

Tons of ability, but I'm not sure the coaching staff will ever utilize him the way they should.

Caveat: if one of Holmes or Edwards leaves via FA, I may reconsider.

QB Alex Smith- what a waste. Ifthey keep &start him I'm looking for another team to support.

QB Troy Smith- don't believe he has what it takes to be a quality NFL QB.

Any 49ers QB until they get rid of Alex Smith, Mike Singletary and preferably the Yorks. Frank Gore will be way past his prime before any 49ers QB is of any significance.

Hard to say where he will be ranked, but I will avoid Turner at anywhere close to what I think it's gonna cost to get him....

Ya I've been keeping him (can keep 1, PPR) for the last few years and I've had enough...welcome to the roster Tampa Mike!

You must play in a PPR. He's actually been one of the more solid RB's in the last 8 weeks or so. He does put up a stinker every now and then, but who doesn't. I play in a TD heavy league, and he's pretty solid. Great offense, tons of carries, all the goalline work, etc make him a great low end RB1.

Jay Cutler

Matt Stafford

Mark Sanchez

Hines Ward

Lee Evans

Larry Fitzgerald

Cedric Benson

Ronnie Brown

Ray Rice

Jets receivers, Cardinals receivers, Miami RB's, Cleveland receivers and any Redskin.
Huh. Fitz has been a consistent WR2, Santonio and Braylon have both been big at times, and Santana Moss has been money for me all season long. Santana was incredibly cheap, and he made a great WR3/flex play for many people.

i'd love to end up with a team similiar to this.

Schaub

Cutler

Rice

Gore

Sjax

Larry Fitzgerald

Boldin

Harvin

Crabtree

Aside from avoiding the guys that burned people this year, I tend to stay away from players who had a huge year - I probably would have taken Chris Johnson if I was the #1 pick but I was concerned that he'd be a letdown this year. He was decent but not as huge as last year. Next year I think Arien Foster will fall into that category, and maybe Peyton Hillis. I have no rhyme or reason but I just go with my gut on this. I avoided Deangelo Wiliams based on this and Steve Slaton last year. just a gut feeling.

Interesting - he's a guy I will target, as I'm sure I can get him much cheaper than heading into this season.
really. He's the only QB to have 300+ yds the last 3 weeks. What else do ppl want from him down the stretch?
Oh that's great; too bad these last two-weeks didn't mean anything to the squads I had him on. Absolutely LOVED the weeks he put up:7 (Lost by 4 points)

9 (Won by 20 points)

1 (Lost by 10 points)

8 (Lost by 9 points)

7 (Lost by 3 points)

Maybe it was just my schedule; but he gave me some BAD LOSSES this season. Quarterback is not a position where I let this "Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde" thing to happen. Give me consistency.

So the year that JStewart is finally going to enter the season as clear starter is the year you will avoid him? That makes no sense.

Vick.. no way he does this well next season, and he can never stay healthy all year.
I disagree about him doing as well; I don't see why you would expect him to suddenly forget how to pass or run.But I DO agree he is and always will be an injury risk. You need to have a half decent backup IMO if you draft him or else you have to burn a roster spot on Kolb (assuming both guys stay with PHI).

These two men crippled what was a hell of a draft for me. I do hold grudges.

Others:

DeAngelo Williams

Marian Barber

Clinton Portis

Ronnie Brown

Vince Young

Pierre Thomas

Jonathan Stewart (won't draft, I'll wait til week 12 to p/up on waivers)

McFadden (way too much injury risk for where he's gonna slot draft day...pass)
Depends... if he falls to a 5th round pick, I'd say his upside is worth it.For me it's Boldin. Way too inconsistent.... went in the 4th round earlier this year.

Chris Johnson, Adrian Peterson, Michael Vick, Peyton Hillis, Arian Foster, Frank Gore, Randy Moss, Ronnie Brown, Joseph Addai, Donovan McNabb... Too many to effin list.

I use the term avoid as meaning relative to where people will likely have to take them based on their hype/perceived value, but here are a few that I'm pretty sure are ready for a decline/fall back/generally will disappoint their owners:

Michael Turner-Not dynamic enough to be relied on ALL the time (which is what you expect from an every week starter). The real life Falcons use him wisely but that's not good news for my FF team.

Beanie Wells-This will not be McFadden"I'll eventually come around". This was the knock on him in college and hasn't changed. Too much smoke not to be fire at this point.

Dwayne Bowe-Almost hate to list it because there are some mad lovers wearing double rose colored glasses around here but when you look at the hard statistics, This is a guy with a BRIEF and SITUATIONAL run of success surrounded by ongoing mediocrity. Especially when compared to how high he will go next year, I pass.

Knowshon Moreno-Ok, i'm just bitter about this one. Perhaps he's not solid for the list but he's kille dme twice now.

Mendenhall-Won't get the same run first opportunity early next year. I like him overall and he will get his chances later in the season when the weather turns, but I like him better as a resell after someone else pays the premium price and gets a little frustrated.

SJAX-Half a season next year and he hits his wall (based on a formula I use that considers a lot of workload numbers). Not saying I have a crystal ball but it has served me very well so if it works, I go with it.

I'm really surprised by the mention on Fitz. He's not lived up to his own lofty standards this year but he's still something like top 17 or so in my PPR. Hard to avoid the guy. Unless you have a very stacked WR corp, I don't know how you truly avoid him.

Just guessing upon ADP because ya never know who might fall but I don't expect to draft

Colston, Hillis, Vick and other qb in the first two rounds, Lloyd, Jennings, Bowe, Tampa Mike, Any TE not named Gates/Witten/Clark in the first five rounds

Jonathan Stewart will be a top 10 pick next year (as Deangelo will be gone)

Great list, but Tampa Mike?I see him only getting better. He's been an anchor on my two teams that are in their Championship Games. And he's only a rookie.

I do, and his stinker yesterday cost me dearly. I just found him too inconsistent this year and will be looking for other options next year unless he really drops...

TMW was a great flex player all year. He is one of the reasons I had the most points. Getting that kind of production from a flex is huge. Now, if he was your wr2, I understand. He was a steal for his adp.

I'll never say never, but Brandon Marshall would have drop significantly or have his QB and offensive scheme undergo a major improvement for me to consider drafting him.

Steve Smith - CAR

drafted in the 4th round as my WR2 and what a disappointment. I don't care who is throwing the ball I want no part of it.

 I'd bet the majority of Schaub owners (myself included) missed the playoffs because of his inconsistency. His great stretch late in the season was only salt in the wound to many of us. I had to trade my RB2 away just to get some ~good QB consistency (Matt Ryan). On the other hand, I'll be avoiding any QB in the first 6 or maybe 7 rounds next year. Lots of good but not great, pretty consistent QBs still on the board then in my main league, and taking Schaub or any QB before then wasn't worth losing the value I could have grabbed at another spot.
