Kevin Smith said his ankle sprain "wasn't that bad." Left stadium sans crutches, wants to play in Week 13: bit.ly/tAOzzi #Lions
I don't take much stock into what the players say. IIRC, Fred Jackson also said he'd be OK after the game on Sunday.Kevin Smith said his ankle sprain "wasn't that bad." Left stadium sans crutches, wants to play in Week 13: bit.ly/tAOzzi #Lions
I watched the game. He had a nice quarter against a team that came out flat playing their third game in 10 days. Good thing Suh was there to motivate them. I hope Smith is ok. He will now probably have to contend with Best moving forward.'sycamore said:Watch the game. Look at the numbers. No one cares that you've posted 15,000 times on this particular forum. How was my original post wrong? I expressed some doubt that he was going to have a big game. He didn't have a big game (albeit because of injury). But I'm no more off base than those extrapolating 1 quarter out for a full game. My other concern was Jahvid Best will apparently be back at some point. So now you have an injured street free agent whose touches are really at the mercy of Best's concussion symptoms. If Best is cleared and steps back in at full speed (remember his body isn't injured) then Kevin Smith's value plummets.Seriously Sabertooth, your post would lead one to believe yo either didn't watch the game, you don't understand football or most likely you hate to be wrong. As Madden pointed out on Sirius Radio a couple of times this week in discussing Tebow; the prognosticators who earlier stated that Tebow could not succeed in the NFL react angrily when he has success rather than accepting, on some level, that they may be wrong. In the long run you may be right and Smith is just a flash in the pan, but to say he wasn't effective in the game yesterday is absurd. Detroit moved the ball pretty effectively, played good D but hurt themselves too many times with costly penalties. Ultimately GB may have won the game with Smith on the field regardless. GB was held in check pretty well in the first half and they were aided by a legitimate if not ticky-tack pass interference call in the end zone.'sycamore said:Watch the game. Look at the numbers. Green Bay is light years better than Detroit, Kevin Smith or not. Once they got going, it was just another rout.
Really, since when do the best teams win every given Sunday? Do injuries not affect outcome, momentum, game conditions? I agree that GB was the better team on the field yeserday and likely most fields on any given Sunday in 2011 into 2012. no way. Green Bay dominated this game. Smith didn't do much in the time he did playSeriously Sabertooth, your post would lead one to believe yo either didn't watch the game, you don't understand football or most likely you hate to be wrong. As Madden pointed out on Sirius Radio a couple of times this week in discussing Tebow; the prognosticators who earlier stated that Tebow could not succeed in the NFL react angrily when he has success rather than accepting, on some level, that they may be wrong. Thanks for joining in the land of irrelevancy. Hope you feel better now.And yes, go Leinart; where exactly that will be is not yet known. But I am guessing that isn't up for debate. What are you guys arguing about? Wow the #### people debate. ####### #1: "I think that guy #### at an 89 degree angle"####### #2: "No way, did you see the light hit his turd? He easily was at an 88 degree angle" And on and on and on into Infiniti. The sooner you guys realize your opinion doesn't matter the better. Go Matt Leinart
Which was really bad karma for him, because the news that Best will be put on IR broke just hours later.Saber is enjoying his fishing trip in here.
Followed by this:Citing a source with knowledge of the situation, Profootballtalk.com reports that Kevin Smith's ankle sprain is "mild," and that he has a chance to play against the Saints in Week 13.Per PFT's Mike Florio, Smith "could be back next week." The Lions' Friday placement of Jahvid Best (concussions) on injured reserve seemed to indicate that Smith's ankle sprain was indeed of the high variety, but there's now reason to believe that he's avoided a significant, multi-week injury. We'll know more next week. Don't drop Smith in any fantasy leagues. I wouldn't consider him a great play next week because of the risk of re-injury but a full game opens the door for him being a good start week 14 when the playoffs start in a lot of leagues. That's as good of news as a Smith owner could have hoped for.Which was really bad karma for him, because the news that Best will be put on IR broke just hours later.Saber is enjoying his fishing trip in here.

Yeah but high ankle sprains take longer than 10 days to heal. I admire Smiths positive attitude but the decision to play rests with the team doctors and not with the player. I wouldnt cut Smith by any means but I would make other plans for next week.Great news Smith has 10 days to rest for week 13. And if he sits then he has a good chance to be back for week 14 start of the playoffs.
Glad to hear he's not injured too badly. I still haven't seen enough of him thought to justify peoples' expectations. If and when he can return, I'd start him based on matchups. Vikings are decent vs. the run. But Oakland and San Diego are juicy. But that's well into the fantasy playoffs. I reckon many teams that need him badly may not have to worry about it at that point, they'll be eliminated.Followed by this:Citing a source with knowledge of the situation, Profootballtalk.com reports that Kevin Smith's ankle sprain is "mild," and that he has a chance to play against the Saints in Week 13.Per PFT's Mike Florio, Smith "could be back next week."
