Playoff WW Defense to have is..... (1 Viewer)

Not a believer in Pittsburgh if Byron Leftwich is the QB going forward. Defenses will stack the box and force Leftwich try to extend drives with his slow delivery. I see a lot of 3 and outs and the TOP could swing against Pittsburghs favor exposing the defense longer.

Pit has a great real life defense...TERRIBLE fantasy defense. THey havent scored double digits in my league all year.

Have ATL and IND in must-roster 2 DS league. Targeted IND on WW this week due to playoff schedule (15/16).

Trying to trade for SD.

How bout some fish n chips?

W14...CLE at home vs KC (Miami at SF)

W15...MIA at home vs JAX

W16...MIA at home vs BUF

Moreover, you can just ride it out from here with these two because the next three weeks look like this:

W11...MIA at BUFF Don't like this one a ton as it's on 4 days rest and travel but I do expect a big effort on TV plus the egg they just laid.

W12...MIA at home vs SEA Rookie QB, long road trip.

W13...CLE at OAK (Miami has NE)
Okay, started the stretch off with 10 last night. I'll take it. Will be well-rested for Seattle on deck although so will seattle coming off the bye.

Are peoeple still high on the Chargers for a stream playoff D?

Anyone still pairing them with the Broncos D?

Our playoffs begin week 13:

13- Chargers home at Bengals or Broncos home vs. Bucs

14- Chargers at Steelers (Big Ben should still be out) Bronocs at Raiders

15- Chargers home vs. Panthers (I haven't watched a Panther game all year) Is Cam still regressing?

16- Chargers at Jets or Broncos home vs. Browns

I'd roll with Chargers IF Jared Gaither is healthy and playing. Rivers seems to make less bone headed decisions with him protecting his backside.

I'm switching every week and like to have the D secured a week ahead of time.....it's been working out.

week 8 - Dolphins 16

week 9 - Chargers 21

week 10 - Colts 16

week 11 - Bengals vs Chiefs

week 12 - Rams vs Arz

week 13 - targeting Cardinals @Jets

week 14 - targeting Browns vs Chiefs or jets vs jags

week 15 - targeting Titans vs Jets Lions vs Arz

Depending on how secure my playoff spot is after this week, I may skip week 13 and grab one of the playoff defenses before someone gets cute and figures out what I am doing.

I've really noticed that is is not as much about how good the D is as about how bad the offense is that you are playing....take the Colts, Chargers, and the week Bills (dang I missed that one)

I'm pairing up Broncos and Panthers. Panthers D is better than people give the more credit for, IMO.

Anyways, from here on out, this give me:

SD @ DEN

DEN @ KC

CAR @ KC

DEN @ oak

CAR @ SD

CLE @ DEN

so in the remaining 6 games, that's 4 against KC and SD, 1 vs oak, and 1 vs CLE.

What do people think about the Pats? I've been very happy with them for the last few weeks, but it was a dream schedule, and now they face HOU and SF. Worth holding onto, or time to move on?

Also, what are SEA owners doing if the CBs are suspended? The matchup is great (at home vs. Zona), but I'd be a little worried about starting a half-strength unit that hasn't done all that well in recent weeks anyway.

Played the Jets this weekend and they served me well, although not looking to hold onto them. I am giving some consideration the Rams. FF playoff schedule is;

@ BUF

vs. MIN

@ Tampa

The Bucs are not a favorable matchup, but the other two seem fairly strong.

Just picked them up for MIN at home Week 15 (have a bye week 14). They've looked great and Janoris Jenkins has been making plays. If vikings stick with Ponder, it could be a long day. Always the threat of AP, but their run D isn't bad (not sure what status of their injured LBs is though).Other possibilities for Week 15 would be: Det @ Ari (but risk of bad defense and away game, Ari is better at home), Jets @ Ten (really bad offense), and SD vs. Car (but Newton has looked better and SD literally has 0 o-line left, so they may be a turnover machine).

I picked up the Jets for this past game but will hold on to them

Week 14 @JAX (but Henne seems to be doing some things right)

Week 15 @TEN

Week 16 SD

May grab Cleveland to cover week 14 vs KC...don't think Quinn and co. have back to back weeks in them.

I have the Browns on deck for the KC matchup. Have to wonder after their last game, though, if the Chiefs have found their mojo or they shot their emotional wad and will have nothing left in the tank.

I have Seattle, and they have a great matchup this week at home versus Arizona, but the looming DB suspensions, combined with their inability to win on the road, has me a little worried about Week 15 @Buffalo. As a plug and play, I'm looking at either Detroit (@Arizona), Miami (home vs Jax) or San Diego (home vs Carolina). I'm leaning toward Detroit. I generally don't like picking bad teams, even when they have good matchups, but Arizona is just so terrible it's hard to resist.

I have no problem starting Seattle at home against SF in Week 16, unless the suspensions have kicked in by that point. If they have, I might consider SD @ Jets.

Did the same. I think KC had one week of mojo with what happened but back to usual next week.

End of the year, evaluate more favorably coldweather D's playing at home against warm weather and indoor teams, particularly those traveling across the country. Look at how Miami performed against Buffalo on that Thursday night. I like the Buffalo D at home against the Rams this week much more than vice-versa, particularly since the the forecast for Sunday is for 40 and rain.

Defenses can be huge difference makers in our scoring system (heavy penalties for yards against) and so with a pretty solid starting lineup I'm rostering 3 defenses right now. Have been playing Denver, had been sitting on the Steelers and didn't like either matchup last week so picked up the Jets vs a horrid AZ squad. So since I lost the bye last night I have to decide which one to play, and whether I should cut one. Was really liking the Steelers this week at home vs. San Diego. They can't run the ball, and Pitt has been impossible to pass against. Rivers should get sacked galore, fumble, maybe a pick 6 or two. San Diego is likely to quit after their last few debacles and nothing to play for in Norv's lame duck swan song. Only question - do they have somebody that can replace Ike Taylor for a few weeks? Man, he was playing tough. If he was in there it would be a no-brainer for me.

with a bye this week, I'm putting in a claim for detroit (ARI week 15) and Green Bay (TEN week 16)

Junked the Panthers and picked up Seattle for the matchup at home against AZ this week. I also picked up STL for the week 15 game at home against Minn. I much prefer playing defenses which are at home!

How the heck was the Seahawks D available on the wire in any league with competent owners?

They were dropped for the week 11 bye week and have been on the road the last two weeks. I'm not the only one in our veteran league who likes to play home defenses.

In a 14-team league where a few owners stash multiple defenses, there's not much on the WW. I'm putting in bids to set up DEN (@OAK) this week and then MIA (JAX, BUF) the next two weeks if I make it that far.

Broncos on the wire? In a 14 team league? RUN

i think i'm gonna ride the jets:

@jax (henne is coming on strong, but no running game)

@ten

vs. SD

i may grab miami for week 15 (home vs. jax) and week 16 (home vs. Buf)

Huh? "There's not much on the WW" but Denver is available? In my league, which has fairly standard D scoring, they are 5th overall for the season. I would just get them and ride them the rest of the way. Sure, Baltimore at home isn't a great matchup, but I still think they're elite enough that they're a must start. And you're really going to sit them at home against Brandon Weeden in Week 16? For a middling defense like Miami, with a so-so matchup vs Buffalo? Seriously?

Still don't get why nobody likes Miami...with Jax and Buf on deck, at home.
As a SF owner with a 1st round bye, I am really looking at replacing the niners with the 'fins for week 15. I will continue to monitor the MJD status, but as of today, they cannot run the ball and I'll take my chances against Henne. The Dolphins are currently 3rd in my line of replacement possibilities behind the 1. Steelers (waiting for injuries to reveal what might be in week 15) and the Redskins (I feel that the Browns will be in a "must throw to catch up" situation for a good part of the game and I feel the same about Weeden as I do Henne).

But what about the revenge factor of Henne taking on his old team? :lmao:

Amazed to be agreeing with this (because the Jets are a mockery) but I'm leaning towards picking up the Jets D as well. Those match ups in Weeks 14-16 are just too good. Jacksonville has no RBs left and is done. Tennessee is a mediocre offense all year long. And the Chargers are a complete mess and may have already packed it in by Week 16.It's hard to find a defense with three straight weeks of better matchups than the Jets.

no week 14 for me so i focus on week 15. got STL and MIA off the waiver wire this morning. let's see where that goes...

Same boat, although it was MIA (vs JAC) and DET (vs ARI). If Lindley is the starter come week 15 this is a no-brainer for me. The dude is just plain awful right now.

oh i would love to play DET, but they're rostered.
WTF? StL and Mia are on the WW but Det is rostered?

Someone's looking ahead to a week 15 date with Lindley. I picked up DET over MIA for that reason myself.

I have been using Denver weekly for the past month, but I am a little scared of rolling them out in week 15 against the Ravens. Even though Denver has fared pretty well against good opponents so far, I hate playing a defense against a solid offense (at home) in the playoffs.

My only other decent option would be St. Louis (vs. Vikings) or Tennessee (vs. Jets), but neither of those give me a ton of confidence either.

I made a mistake of passing up on Cinncinnati, thinking that the other teams in my leagues playoffs would stick with who they had, leaving me to grab them next week.

I'm gonna roll with Cleveland this weekend. Hopefully they can force Quinn to make some bad decisions and have been playing better as of late.

Other options on my ww include; ATL, STL, MIA and JAX (playing the Jets with ????? at qb)
