Playoffs Thread - Cincinnati V Houston (1 Viewer)

bu...bu...but you can't win in this league without a QB throwing for less than 300 yards ! you dont win in this league with defenses that force turnovers, you win it with passing offenses !

defenses and run games are still >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>*

in playoff games :)

just had a thought... im sure its been mentioned many times over, but still...

andre johnson, a near consensus top wr taken in fantasy over the past years... arguably the most gifted WR in the last years (with some select company).... won't get a sniff at the HOF.

strange

Wow, there's almost nobody in this thread.
I know. I'm kind of like, is there a real Game Thread that I wasn't invited to?Oh well - I'm kind of drunk, so I'll be posting with abandon any way, making up for lack of quality with quantity
We haven't heard from The_Man in a while. T&P.
Had to go eat dinner with the family. They enjoyed my drunken company. Well, the kids did anyway. Thanks for caring.

Congrats Texans and Texans fans, you got the big plays and deserved the win. Good luck against the Ratbirds.

JJ Watt TD was the turning point. Plus, at halftime, Texans decided to take Green away and the Bengals offense had no answers

:lmao:

Tony Bruno @TonyBrunoShow 9m

with that win, TJ Yates has tied Tony Romo for the most playoff wins in the state of Texas over the last 9 years :)

It's sad, but true. Injuries, his lack of touchdowns, and playing in Houston will make it difficult for him to get in.

How do you not challenge that?
I don't know if NBC will give you another look after the commercial, but I just frame-by-framed it.That ball was OUT.
Watching the reply and following along in the thread as I do.I think you're mixing up rules. If a player is airborne and lands out of bounds, the ball is down at the spot the ball crossed the sideline. For someone diving at the pylon, the ball would have to cross above or inside of the pylon to be a touchdown. If Foster dove and the ball crossed the sideline before it got to the goal line, then yes it would be down at that spot.

But that isn't the case for a runner who steps out of bounds. For that case the ball is spotted where the ball was at the moment the player's body touches the sideline. Even if the ball itself crossed the sideline earlier.

In fact you could start at your own 10, hold the ball across and above the sideline, and then run 90 yards to the end zone. So long as your feet stayed in bounds, it would be a touchdown the moment the ball broke the plane of the goal line that extends past the sideline. The ball does not have to cross inside the pylon in such a case since you are not out of bounds.

Since Foster was a runner, the latter applies. Did the ball cross the extended goal line before Foster's left foot stepped out of bounds? The pylon is in bounds so that doesn't play a role, it is when his left foot actually lands on the sideline. The super slow mo replay from the close sideline camera shows it very well and Foster's body with the ball is probably a foot past the goal line when his foot lands on the sideline. So the call on the field was correct, the ball had already broken the extended goal line before he would have been ruled out of bounds.

Here's the two sections of rules that cover those two situations at the goal line, and an example case from the rulebook. Italics are mine, for clarity:

Article 1 Touchdown Plays. A touchdown is scored when:

(a) the ball is on, above, or behind the plane of the opponents’ goal line and is in possession of a runner who has advanced from the field of play; or

(b) a ball in possession of an airborne runner is on, above, or behind the plane of the goal line, and some part of the ball passed over or inside the pylon; or

A.R. 11.2 Second-and-10 on B18. Runner A1 takes handoff and runs down the sideline toward the goal line with the ball in his outside arm. He crosses the goal line plane standing with the ball to the outside of the pylon.

Ruling: Touchdown. Part of the ball crossing over or inside the pylon only applies to an airborne runner who lands out of bounds.

Didn't get a chance to make it out there, but I'm glad to hear this. The Texans crowd was impressive on TV and you have some of the best fans on FBG. I know a lot of Bengals fans will be pulling for you guys the rest of the way. If you can get the lead and have the defense play like that, its going to be tough for anyone to knock you out.

I could be wrong, but I'm thinking the winner of Houston/Baltimore plays in the Super Bowl.

Didn't have any Bengals fans near me in the stadium but talked to a few after the game. Agree with Buck that the ones I saw were a pretty cool bunch. They drove down in an RV for the game. I really love Dalton's future, and especially with Green to develop chemistry with their whole careers. I think Pittsburgh and Baltimore need to be looking over their shoulder in the coming years.

There was a guy a few rows in front of me that had a sign that read essentially the same. Got a lot of laughs. Was a heck of a good time. The crowd was on its feet for almost the entire game and was LOUD.Antonio Smith and Jacoby Jones are great fun to watch during warm-ups... too bad only one of them saved anything for the game.
