Playstation VR - anyone have it? (1 Viewer)

Didn't see anything in a cursory glance at the Video Games thread - does anyone own this?  Is it cool or does it suck?  What games are recommended?  I know all this info is out there on the web, but I prefer to get opinions here that I can trust a lot more than those of your generic Internet dork.

I bought the launch bundle from Amazon but it's currently sitting in a box in my bedroom because I don't own a PS4 (still trying to get through a ton of PS3 games that were bought for me years ago and I haven't even opened) and I figured I might as well wait and invest in the PS4 Pro when it's available in a few weeks as I understand it works better with the VR tech.

I have a $200 gift card I can use exclusively on games for the VR so I'm looking for recos there too.  I'm not a big gamer by any stretch but have been fascinated with VR for years and am psyched that it's now available and viable in-home.  TIA.

Hoping to get a black Friday deal on a bundle but would really like to hear from somebody who has one. The online reviews have been pretty impressive so far.

But for someone who owns the Virual Game Boy and I think I have a Nintendo Power Glove sitting around somewhere, I hate paying for gimmicky items that lose their luster after about three months.

Also, I thought this equipment was going to be all the rage, especially when I tried to pre-order a few months back and was completely shut out.  Looks like this thing is about as popular as a fart in church based on this thread.

The reason for that is not the technology, but the lack of a killer app.  Right now it's a bunch of gimmick games and ports of regular games.  I'd hold off.

I already own it, I'd have to return it.  Is there fear that there aren't going to be really good games for this?  Feels like they'd be throwing everything they've got at making this work.  They could dominate the VR space before Xbox or Nintendo launches a competitive product, no?

They're doing everything they can to make it work but good games are expensive and they need a large installed base in order for developers to make them.  Here's a list of upcoming games.  Looks like Resident Evil 7 has the makings of a hit game.

I'm going to wait for the VR wars to be fought and settled before I invest in the tech. Too many gaming sysems, phones and movie companies are jumping into the arena to pick a brand right now.

agreed - have no interest in this until it becomes a must-have. I already made the mistake of buying a Wii awhile back.

Virtual Gameboy

Xbox Kinect

PlayStation Move

Wii MotionPlus, Wii Balance Board, and really the Wii itself

Look, people don't want to wear things, dance in front of things, or stand on things to play a game.

They want to plop their asses down on the couch and move nothing but their thumbs.

Stop making gimmicks and focus on making more and better games.

and while we're on this, stop assuming I want to "share" everything. I don't.

Guy I know did the Batman game on the PS VR.  He said it was amazing, but too short.

They're running commercials with that one and one that looks like a Star Wars game where you pilot an X-Wing.  Thing is, I can't tell if it is actual gameplay footage or if they're just trying to make it look cooler than it is.
