Please keep Chance in your thoughts and prayers (2 Viewers)

A friend of mines daughter went through a very trying period with cancer when she was 12-13...much like you son is going through now. There was never any good news... It was a 2-3 year ordeal and I remember vividly him coming to my home and breaking down on many occasions saying that they were told her time is very limited but she was fighting. The family had prepared themselves for the worst.

That was 8 years ago and their daughter just graduated from Michigan State last spring. If you are looking for any shred of hope maybe this will give you some. Things can happen that are unpredicatable by medical science, and the body does react in ways that many times can not be explained by doctors. With the support system you and your family have put in place for your son and his will I hope that I am reading the same outcome 8 years from now.

I'm so sorry to hear that Chane's cancer is back. I cannot imagine what you are going through. Chance and the rest of your family are in my thoughts. I know that things are tough but I hope you find some solace in the fact that your son knows how much you love him and that you've been the best parent you can be.

Thoughts and prayers, bb. A reminder to all to treasure the time you have with your loved ones.
Agreed. Been giving out extra long daddy hugs recently.

BB, every day I wake up I think of you. And not in the wet dream sort of way anymore. Keeping you and Chance and all the bottoms in my heart and mind.

I saw in the paper this morning that Pope John Paul II is about to become a saint. My superstitious Catholic self started praying to him already - "Hey, Pope, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort."

I will continue until he comes through with a miracle demonstrating his saintliness.

In my own little inconsequential state of helplessness I've been keeping my eye out for anything relevant. Trial?

That's it. Leaving work and going to get my kid early from daycare. Life's too ####### fragile. My heart hurts for you BB, your family will continue to be in my thoughts.

I cannot even begin to imagine the sorrow and pain you all must feel. I send out the warmest and most supportive vibes I can muster to you and your family and your boy Chance. May the best things possible happen for him. Miracles do occur and hopefully you get your wish. Hang in there. Love him and each other with all your might. Oh lord what a cruel and unfair world we live in.

I tried reaching out to the Texans Director of Community Relations and was referred to Make-A-Wish. Referrals through their site have to be done by a close family member with a lot of knowledge of the child's medical condition.

Hi Ignoramus,

Thank you for reaching out to the Houston Texans with your request. What an awful situation for poor Chance, I can only imagine the pain he and his family must be feeling at a time like this.

We have actually partnered up with the Make a Wish Foundation for these kinds of requests. Partnering together, we can work out a really cool experience for our struggling fans and leave wonderful memories for them and their families. Here - http://texgulf.wish.org/refer-a-child - is the web address for you if youre interested in referring him for the program. Thank you so much and we look forward to meeting Chance soon!

Thanks,

Kristin Putnam

Hopefully Bentley's or someone else's connections can come through.

Every night since this has been posted, at prayers with my kids I've asked God to watch over Chance and give him a miracle. The other day my 6-year-old said "Daddy, you say that EVERY NIGHT! Why don't you think of something new?" I only told him that Chance needed help every day, so I was going to pray for him every day.

Best of luck, BB and Chance.

Maybe this is a good opportunity to apply the power of the FFA. I am sure if BB and Chase get selected for this experience it will be talked about a lot here. Free, and very positive, PR for a charity could help others also get a Make-A-Wish experience. Plus, this is a football based website so seems like a good place to talk about an experience like that.

I agree w/ somebody. I haven't found anyone who really knows anyone with the Texans beyond what they found on the website. If someone can get some specific info from BB, then maybe we can all work together as the FFA to make something happen. Right now I'm not sure we are going to get very far with "a guy I kno from the Internet whose email address or phone number I don't know..."

Based upon the video with Vitale, I suspect Biggie may have better connections than any of us.

Thanks bentley, Ignoramus and others for your work on ideas for Chance. We are in touch with Make A Wish, and that would probably be the best route for making something happen with the Texans. If that's what Chance wants to do. You see, Chance had been approved by Make A Wish last year. He wanted to go to Hawaii, and the organization got something set up for the Disney resort in Hawaii. And then, just before we were to go on the trip, Chance had a relapse and had to undergo brain surgery followed by aggressive chemo. So the trip was cancelled. After completing his second round of treatments, the trip was once again approved and tentatively scheduled for later this month. And then he had his second relapse, so the trip has once again been cancelled and that will no longer be an option. The Foundation is very aware of Chance's prognosis, so they've been calling daily to see if Chance has an alternative wish. We've asked Chance to think about it, but he hasn't told us yet what he wants to do. Chance is a kid who never asks for anything. He is so easygoing and never complains. When you tell him he can ask for just about anything, he has trouble coming up with something. We've got a hectic couple of days coming up, but hopefully we'll be able to help him make a decision.

Again, thank you guys for being so thoughtful.

I had typed up a detailed update on Chance's current conditions and treatment options, but deleted it after deciding that it's just too much to unload on you guys. In short, a couple potential treatment options have surfaced in the last two days. It is unclear whether Chance will be eligible for either or both, but we're doing a bunch of tests and scans to find out. The good news is that there is at least the potential for additional treatment. That is more than what we had when I started this thread. Both are extreme long shots, but it's something. Hope remains, like a burning ember among the ashes.

I hope you know that a bunch of guys here would do just about anything to help you. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask.

The fact that there is any good news at all, and that there is at least something to hope for, is plenty. Rest assured that we are all hoping with you.

Thanks for the update BB. Hoping the long shot works and Chance comes up with the most awesome idea for the make a wish foundation.

Thanks for the update. Love and prayers from the Bentley family. The whole FFA is here to help out in any small way that we can.

Obviously it's up to you what you wish to share, but there's no such thing as too much to unload on us, IMO.

I don't know what else to say but this. Anything you need I'm sure someone here can help. Please ask.

Believe. Miracles do happen. The power of will can be very potent. You hear these stories of people who shouldn't be alive. I watch the series "I'm Alive." Watching how people survived the unsurvivable confirms that miracles do happen. Continued prayers to all of you. xx

Oh, bigbottom. Chance lucked out in having you as his dad. I'm sending as many positive thoughts as I know how.

All of us are heart broken and speechless. Letting us know about his options gives all of us hope, and it may feel good for you to get it all out and get feedback.

With that being said, we all respect your privacy, and are thinking about you and your family daily.

no words can ever truly cover what we all feel in our hearts...but I think a previous poster said it best . #### cancer.

I know it's been stated, but where does Chance and family live? I may have a contact through a foundation for Children fighting cancer here in New York, they might have some affiliations elsewhere. The gentleman I work for/with is one of the founding members of the organization so it's worth a shot.

I'm so, so, sorry, BB. I wish I had more to say. You and Chance are both in my thoughts, in my prayers, and my heart. I can't imagine the pain you are in.

Good news on potential additional treatment options. Hopefully it is just the first of many posts that continue to post good news.

Agree completely.

Thanks for the update BB -- I check in here multiple times a day hoping for good news, and think about you and Chance often. Sending as much love and positive energy as we can muster.

Miracles Do happen--I watched one beat my Mom's cancer against all odds years ago and it was with the same will and determination I see in you and Chance.

All prayers coming your way.

As the newest Saint up there, John Paul II has a lot to do to prove he belongs. Some of these veteran guys have been handing out miracles for centuries. I have been constantly reminding him of Chance - and of you and the rest of your family - as a great opportunity to show he's got what it takes.

1000% absolutely.

Also, do not be too proud if money becomes an issue for treatments. We have a lot of power here and can definitely help you guys out.

God I pray so. As strongly as I can.

Can we help by raising money? I know BB is not gonna ask but when I see "Make a Wish" foundation, we can't let money hold up what needs to happen here. Chance is a football fan of the Texans I presume from this thread? Is that true?

If it is, let's start passing around the hat because time is of the essence and as much as we lament about the situation, Chance is ALIVE right now and we should do everything we can so he can enjoy the now, the right now.

I bet we have some Texans season ticket holders in the SP who would be more than happy to let a couple seats go so Chance can see a game. If not that then we should do something else, maybe he wants to see some places in the United States or wherever.

What's the first thing we need to do?
