I am sorry this is a ploy. If Denver wins with Plummer this week, Jake starts next week guaranteed. If they lose, then I can see Cutler maybe getting looked at for Seattle, and you can mark it down right now, the team will still struggle just as much. The play calling is what is killing this team not the players.
The play calling, as well as the running back roulette and the defense not playing up to expectations are all giving this team an identity crisis- now they're going to shake up the QB position as well? The SD game was lost by not having an answer for LT in the 2nd half. If LJ does the same to them in KC, that isn't Plummer's fault either.Plummer hasn't lit it up, but he has had some decent games when given more than just Walker as a target. It's a given that this team is Cutler's in the future anyway- but why turn over the reins when the postseason is still within reach? It just seems like they're trying too hard for another Romo-rags to riches story.
Let me repeat, he's the 37th ranked QB in the league ahead of only V. Young, Walter and Leinart (all 1st year starters). Considering he's got a great running game and a good defense that's unacceptable.
Does he really have a great running game right now? He's got a motley crew of ever-changing backs of various degrees of experience and different styles, with developing blocking schemes as a work-in-progress. Some of these backs can catch (Nash, M.Bell), some have bricks for hands (Sapp). He doesn't have a dump-off TE which has been a long-time staple of an efficient DEN offense. The defense is good, but has been banged up in recent weeks with Darrent Williams, Lynch, Gold, and now Ferguson all nursing various injuries. He's also lost Lepsis, and Rod Smith has been fighting a shoulder injury as well in recent weeks. All that aside, now it's time to change the QB? It just seems like a rough time to do it with so much in flux already and so much at stake.
